The look on Curbs' and Day's faces as that happened. Very Funny but they didn't think so!

Back in the mid-90's, our school team were in the schools cup final, I was a substitute and at 1-0 down our teacher brought me on, I proceeded to score 1 and set up the winner - yes, that is true and I was treated like a king for at least a week.

By calling Greg Halford a lanky streak of piss or cabbage (can't remember which) at Blackpool in the heat of anger he has since gone on to play crap at home.
  • Options
So Carts, it's YOUR fault he's now useless and we got beat against Blackpool and Preston ...... ;o)

Glass I am sticking to you like glue in future, that is a brilliant story!

First that, then meeting the Tango twat. Think I would of spent the rest of the night in a cell if I had been within range of him.

Whenever you need letting into a hotel again when you lose your shoes and are stumbling around 'tired and emotional' I'm your man!!

And I don't actually mind Greg Halford I just don't think he is a right back.

    Perhaps he's a winger?

We could do with more wingers ;o)

Very good! I think he'd make a good centre midfielder, the sort of horrible centre midfield player we don't posess
  • Options
Right, Carts. We could do with some big ugly git lurching around centre mid.

And perhaps risk Moo2's defending again at right back.

    Pretty much mate, a rattler.

Love Holland and ZZ is well he's ZZ, but neither of them are what I'd call a box to box smasher nor is Semedo.

Re Naughtiness in Tractorland - My mates brother-in-law was a PC in Ipswich, I could be public spirited and pass on your details to him. If I did, you would probably get another bottle of champagne, as he was a staunch Gooner and after too much crowd duty at Portman Road thought Ipswich fans were all Gobshites.

Agree, Carts - but ZZ pops up with goals and makes chances for others when he's allowed to play a bit further up the park. And he can pick a killer pass to send through people like Lita & Varns.

So you need Semedo to sit, protect the defence, bring the ball out and play some floor passes to feet. With perhaps Holland sat beside him to cover, play the tidy pass, knit the team together and organise.

That may be the answer: to play Holland & Semedo together with ZZ and Ambrose playing as 'narrow' wingers a little further up the park - leaving a centre hole behind the front men for either to exploit.

Then we need 2 pacy fullbacks to bomb on to exploit the wide channels left by the 'narrow' wingers, like we had a few weeks ago.

Sometimes we just need to play to player's own strengths.

But instead, of course, we'll play 4-5-1 at Burnley tomorrow - and win........ ;o)

I've always influenced the games we've won but none of the ones we've lost :)

My mate did shout at Jason Euell in about his 3rd home game, when he dribbled the ball out of play for the 2nd time in 2 mins that ' you aren't good enough to wear white boots' - come the next game he was wearing 'proper' boots and he started scoring goals.

Heard the interview with the 'professor' earlier on 5Live and I couldn't believe what a load of tripe it was. A 5 minute interview during which I really expected him to come out with some kind of sound rationale behind his findings.

But no, he said the findings came down to nothing more than looking at football results from our leagues over the last fifty years.

    Oh well done.

No, but I nearly punched Andy Todd when he got sent off for Bolton the other year at the Valley, I was sitting right by the tunnel and he was giving it large as he was escorted off by his own physio, I gave it back to him and he tried to come back up the tunnel at us, only to be stopped by OB. muppet.

chris powell throwing the ball back at us to hold on to with just a few minutes left to play at the Beach in the Carling cup game?

"No, but I nearly punched Andy Todd "

Had to pull one of my mates (who posts on here as bald1) off Peter Garland at a pre season at Welling a few years ago.

His (Garlands) brother was bowling around inside the ground in a palace top and got a slap for his troubles, which carried on again after the game outside the ground! Garland jumped in between them and told him he'd have to go through him to get to his brother, which was seen as a challenge rather than a deterent!!
  • Options
Going through him was probably easier than going round him

    That's a class story, GHE.
Closest I've come to influencing anything was by telling Curbs at the sponsors' dinner that it wasn't a good idea to show past encounters with that day's opposition on the big screen when the teams were warming up. This was because we'd just played Leicester at home (them again) and showed the earlier away match - the Leicester players all stood watching it as Di Canio dived was chopped and scored the equalising penalty. You could see the injustice really fired them up to go on and get a result that afternoon... I think the edict went out from Curbs to be a bit more careful about what was shown after that!

    Who reposted this? :o)
thought i would get away with a low profile on my return to portman road!!!!
