I think we've all known pretty much from the beginning that this is a business venture only for TJ, and nothing more. Whether he is at the game or not doesn't make much difference to that.

It's not what I want in an owner. Go now please.

Going to buy him out then are you?
I really don't think the people running the club these days care two hoots what you,I or anyone else with an affinity for all things cafc want. Pays yer money....

You make my point for me.

That's a bit harsh on cafctom, SHG. He was only giving you his view.

Blimey. I only said I thought his view was wrong and qualified why I think that. Not an attack on Tom himself. Apologies if that's how it reads.

Sorry, me bad - I forgot the winky thing!

You said "go now" - I said "that's a bit harsh on cafctom".

Doesn't work as good now I've had to explain it.
    ;o)

Thing is it doesn't bother me as much as it seems to bother you. Football is corrupt from top to bottom. It's full of gangsters, failed businessmen, dictators, oligarchs, agents, property salesman....the list goes on.Not one of them are really interested in football.
The days of fluffy little football clubs owned by fluffy little football people were stamped out years ago I'm afraid.

  • What about the fluffy brown envelopes and fluffy shipments of rubber from the far east.:-)

John Berylson at Millwall lives in the USA so obviously can't attend every match but he certainly isn't in it for the money.

I've not heard that she does but I think it's clear that his ownership of Millwall has led to an affection for the club as misguided as that might be.

  • Beyond making a few mistakes, what is so evil about the likes of Randy Lerner, Steve Gibson, or, it pains me to say it, Parish at Palace? Or the late Marcus Liebherr, who rescued Southampton and left them his money in trust when he passed away? Or the directors of Swansea?

Or the owners of every German club?

It doesn't HAVE to be the preserve of spivs like TJ or ***** like Abramovic
  • ...or, it pains me to say it, Parish at Palace?...

Parrish was interviewed on the radio yesterday and came across as a decent bloke who's quite clued up. Shame really.

Agree big shame, because I think Parrish and his two mates will all do right by their club - the one they supported from the terraces before they did good by the way.

I think he started off ok, but it's going to his head.

Just look at the fella - looks more and more like Simon Jordan every day and keeps popping up everywhere giving little sound bites.

Give him another year or two and he'll carry on that great Palace tradition of fucking it upo royally. They just can't help themselves.
  • How I hope you are right ;-)

Good point, many owners start off sensible and then get caught up in the bubble and lose track of how they got into the big time in the first place.

I have noticed Parrish has become a real rent-a-quote merchant in recent months - I appreciate they are in the Premiership now - but to my mind owners should stay out of the media unless it is critical for them to comment.

    This times 100

  • Can we also do a running commentary on fans who don't attend each and every home game and slag them off for their lack of loyalty?

so like our current owners and slater then?
  • Has Jiminez actually said anything yet, or been quoted as having said something about Charlton since the takeover? His silence is quite remarkable.

Will no doubt get shot down for this, but were people so outraged by the current regime when we basically bought our way out of League One, brought in a club legend as manager, kept ticket and ST prices affordable, extended quality young players contracts and didnt sell to potential buyers that didnt have the clubs future at heart?

I can understand the concern but lets weigh up the pros and cons. Actions speak louder than words and so far, overall, the pros outweigh the cons.
  • Well said that man.

    This.

People can bang on about how they want to hear from them directly and how they sacked this person and that person and all the rest of it, but at the end of the day this board has so far done a brilliant job of bringing stability from a managerial perspective with Chris Powell's appointment, and lifted us a division. I've really enjoyed the past two seasons as a result of the board's decisions.

If people want to get their knickers in a twist about numbers on books and "what ifs", then fine. Personally, I can only give opinion on what I see on the pitch - and it has been extremely positive on the whole.

difference was that Varney, Kav et all were there then to give them their huge input with regard season ticket prices etc. Also, if it wasn't for PV/RM then Powell wouldn't be in charge now because he is their man and when they took over I very much doubt that TJ or MS would have even knew who he was.
