We would not have been relegated in 2006/7 if we'd stuck with Dowie.

Maybe so, but then again we weren't founded for another 1699 years. Anyway, back then Septimius Severus was the big name in europe. We should have got him. Or Michael Appleton.

Maybe, but we would have had the best cricket eleven in the premier league that season with Matt Holland called up as opening bat for Ireland.

that explains the amount of money he pissed up the wall when he was here.
And why all the players he brought in were at best a level below...

Like Souleymane Diawara who Richard Murray described as "apparently the best centre-half you've never heard of."

Having given him the money to sanction the deal.

Amdy Faye has to be one of the worst players to put on a Charlton shirt.

I don't really get this. Was voted player of the month, by the fans, in August that season.

You ask a Chelsea fan about Jimmy Floyd H, they will give you a VERY different view about him from the average Charlton fan.

Madjid Bougherra is a fantastic footballer, too good to be a centre half.

I first saw him play for Wednesday v Birmingham before he came to us, I was doing cartwheels when I heard that we had signed him. Most Charlton fans will be indifferent to him.

    Football, all about opinion.

Flush with birthday money, I got his name printed on the back of my shirt after his home debut against Bolton in which he played very well

Absolutely numpty, terrible manager, ex-Palace, was gutted when we appointed him.

Head and shoulders above anyone that Roland and Katrien would put in charge.

Dowie is the English version of fraeye so by default of "knowing the English leagues" then yes, dowie (just about) better.

Before undertaking his football career that spanned three decades Dowie earned a Masters in Engineering from the University of Hertfordshire.
I didn't know that. Why did he choose to play football rather than work in a field related to what he learned in the university? Not that the disaster that is the 2006/07 season would not have happened at all but I just can't help wondering how things wound have been if we had never appointed him.... :(

We would have perhaps appointed Billy Davies? I can't remember exactly at the time who the other odds on favs were. Murray was smitten for dowie after discovering the man that's mastered the sacred art of PowerPoint presentations....and the stupid Simon Jordon fued.

We would have still got relegated from the premier league regardless at some point in between then and the present day.

Would probably have had quite a big butterfly affect trail.....one that maybe meant we never knew Roland Dutchatalet existed.
