It was - I could drink a few of them if I wasn’t obsessed with trying new beers all the time. It really was like drinking dessert.

8 hours putting together new sectionals, so I think I earned this one. Trillium DDH Melcher Street. 7.2%, smooth beyond belief, quite fruity from the Mosaic hops, but with decent bitterness.
Watching the Patriots, hoping they don’t mess up and win, before this afternoon’s Bruins game, while basking in the glory of a win over Southend, I grabbed this at the bar - 3 Floyd’s Brewing Crushing Mass. Double coffee imperial stout weighing in at 15.1%. I was expecting it to be a bit boozy, but it’s not. Smooth, plenty off coffe and a dry finish. Very pleasant, but definitely just the one. It only comes in a 5oz pour, and my magic beer price converter tells me it’s a mere £29.74 a pint.

Up in Maine for Portland Beer Week, and first up is this beauty, and throwback to some comments a while back.
Sacred Profane Smoked Dark Lager. 4%, and does what it says on the box. This is a nice variation on their normal dark lager - it’s not super smokey, but it’s definitely there throughout.

Just as Brewdog with Black Heart, Forged etc try to muscle in on their share of the market, the whole 'Splitting the G' thing blows up. Really clever.

Guinness have always been marketing geniuses. They’ve convinced people worldwide, that their fairly average stout is the best beer ever. It’s not even the best stout in Ireland (my opinion). It’s not bad, it’s just nothing special, and generally served way too cold for a decent stout.
So it looks like dark lagers are becoming a thing, even Bissell Brothers have one now - One Little Stone. Not bad, 5.5%, but not as good as Sacred Profane. Not quite as malty, and a bit too fizzy. Luckily the Sacred Profane taproom is next door to Bissells, so I can do a proper comparison. Tough job, but someone has to do it.
