Whilst that's good to read, Powell is hardly likely to say anything different and admit to not being happy or having problems with RD. To me it reads as worded very carefully as we know Powell is good at. I do believe though, that despite what's going on, he wants to stay as manager and isn't going to walk.
This, he can hardly say anything else as did Malky McKay so we will just have to wait and see.
Well if its true from Powell thats awkward for the conspiracy theorists
He's pretty much obliged to put out that sort of message, as long as he is an employee of the club and wishes to remain so. All conspiracy theories remain valid until there's a picture of him on the website smiling as he signs his new contract.
but he didn't need to say it in a press statement ... if he is not happy, he could have used different words and not given support.
Personally I think that RD's 'network experiment' has a fair chance of success and I am happy he has chosen us as one of the teams.

Of course he has to give support and show solidarity with the new owner, they employ him now. If CP or any other employee at the club said detrimental things about the current situation or the new owner they could be sacked.

no-ones right, no-ones wrong ... none of us know, that is the point.
We are all guessing ... personally I believe this will end positively.
The only problem I have with all these new signings (permanent & loans) is that they are all youngsters & have no real experience. If we were getting in 25/26 year olds from SL or wherever that have 200 games under their belts and are proven then no problem, but we are shipping out experience English League players for in-experience players who have never played in this country.
I feel that RD believes that we are doomed this season & is trying to cash in on any player with value (although Wiggy is an exception and I think he was offered a new contract as he is under 25)
As the Chinese used to say - may you live in interesting times.............

It was taken word-for-word from his press conference yesterday.

The quotes are from yesterday's press conference, where he was answering questions from the press, so I'm not really sure what you mean about not needing to say it in a press statement. If a journo asks him how he feels about the possible sale of Stephens and Yann he can either:
say he's very unhappy about it - this answer will piss off Roland refuse to answer the question, leading people to presume that he's very unhappy about it - this will piss of Roland say he's delighted to see the back of Yann and Dale - nobody will believe this say he doesn't want to lose them but understands the business reasons behind it - nice and diplomatic, nobody's pissed off.
Only one realistic option there really, wouldn't you say (presuming he wants to hold onto his job)?

as AFKA rightly points out, we all have our own opinions and rightfully so
I still think this will work and the season will end favourably.
To be honest I find this whole new RD model for running a network of football clubs fascinating. The guy has put up the cash to buy the club, is funding losses of 5-6 million a year & is now trying something new to make successes of all his clubs. And he has every right to do exactly that. Will it work? Who knows, but the ride should be exciting & unpredictable.
He will have an eye on long-term success, but I'm sure he will be hoping to avoid relegation this season. And if we are relegated, he has structured the purchase price so that the impact on him is less than it would have been. He's obviously a very intelligent guy who has already been a huge success in business. Now he has a new interest & he is trying to do something different. Good luck to RD & I'm going to watch how this all pans out with great interest. So let's all buckle up & see exactly what transpires.
Best post of the day so far and exactly expresses my opinion of the whole thing. I have to say that RD is seeming to take a very 'Charlton' view of things - invest in the young players (who will get us ahead and be sold for profit), build for the long term (so give long contracts to the young, key players to, in some degree, fire proof us if we are relegated), and do not over pay for players.
Add to that a network of clubs around Europe, which is one thing Charlton never had in the past, and I think it is a very promising way to go, although it is very different to the modern trend of 'buy, but, buy right now', so I can see why is worries some.

Yes but look where those 200 + games experienced players have left us. I'm excited by this new strategy, we needed to make changes and now we have some.

excatly the way I see it. I am very happy that we are part of RD's 'experiment' ... it has not been tried before in this way and, if we have understood it correctly, is innovative and refreshing. OK, it might fail, but as I have said in other threads, I am positive.
It was never going to be easy taking over a club mid-season and undoing the many wrongs that the previous owners forced upon us. RD is approaching this in a disciplined fashion without needlessly throwing millions at the problem ... I personally applaud that.
Hearing from a reliable source that Kermo passed his Bournemouth medical earlier today so looks like a done deal. Shame.
Hahahaa you have no reliable source let's be honest. You've put 2 and 2 together. He isn't with the squad today so it makes sense that he is on his way to bournemouth.
Am i the only one who feels like this is all a bad dream? It sort of doesnt feel real that we've sold arguably two of our best players and our talisman who a lot of people love,(me included) is also on his way out. Part of me thinks that its a disaster and were only heading in one direction, but then i think to myself surely if powell thought that, he would of already walked because we all know what the club means to him? .Its gonna be a strange day.

Exactly what I thought. Two of them wouldn't be so bad lol
