  • 24 hours ago he was our only left back, now he's surplus to requirements #funnyoldgame
  • Morning all. Please fasten your seat belts.....
  • Not that I'm into S&M, but this is what I envisage it to be like.....loads of pain and a little bit of pleasure.....ending with a happy ending haha

    Playing devils advocate here.

What if Hamer has said he is off at the end of the year because the old boys club is being broken up.

Powell knows Thuram is the best keeper (he's seen them all training for a few weeks now) and only here for 6 months so loan out Alnwick to get some games and renew his contract if he continues to impress. Leave Hamer on the bench if he's not going to stay otherwise we are training up someone else's keeper for next year.

As I said, devils advocate but still a possibility.

    Fair analysis.
Remarkable team selection at Doncaster then.
Haha, fair point AB, although conceding 3 goals won't have helped. Everyone said Alnwick deserved the chance to keep the gloves after his previous games maybe Powell felt the same but as with button last year one or two bad games and the second choice is out.

You know far more about the inner workings of our club than I ever will AB and I have great respect for you. I just don't want to buy into all the doom and gloom (yet).

Sometimes we need a change, our current group of players seem to have us heading for relegation maybe a change could turn that around? Thuram made some good saves for us, and one howler, by all accounts. if he's the best keeper let's give him a chance.

If we want to drop wages then loaning out a 3rd choice keeper, on possibly first team wages, seems like a smart way to go. I'd rather do that than deplete other areas of the team.
  • I have no idea what will happen but today is going to be so excting
  • How many do people reckon will come in today then? i say 2 strikers, cm and a defender!

    (Hoping more than expecting)

I reckon Powell will play his 'wild card' as I just did with one of my fantasy teams and change the whole squad!!!
  • DM / CM / Strikers (1 - If Yann stays / 2 - If Yann goes)
  • Alnwick gone
  • Sponsored links:

  • Sky saying that Wolves have accepted bid from Celtic for Leigh Griffiths, so that probably leaves just Bournemouth as an option for Yann. Still hope he stays.
  • @CAFCofficial: TRANSFER NEWS: Goalkeeper Ben Alnwick has joined @leytonorientfc on a permanent deal. More to follow... #cafc http://t.co/AK6YwOVSRS
  • WTF. Fuming
  • Permanent deal? what the hell!

  • Imagine we went down and he came up...
  • Loan I can live with but permanent? That's bloody stupid!
  • Someone put Rolands face on the famous Kinnock front page. Will the last person to leave Charlton please turn off the lights.
  • Hamer and Alnwick both out of contract...maybe Hamer was the cheaper option to keep.
  • Calm down now! Let's see who is coming in before we get upset.
  • Currently our best player

This way atleast we get some sort of fee.

We are the new Watford aren't we.

BUT if we stay up, that'll do me just fine.

We could have stayed up without this with a few signings. I really cannot stand the idea of this network. What identity will we have in a few years?

We signed him for nothing... We got something for him... Good business

Im not a fan of it, but staying up this season is key whatever way we do it.
  • His contract was up in the summer I believe. Maybe RD asked Powell which one he wanted to keep out of Hamer and Alnwick and he chose Hamer
  • Was this what the last supper was referring to?

But this is a long term plan. It's extreme but I would rather go down with Powell in charge, with the manager able to play the players he wants, than be part of this network over the long term. We are simply a holding place for a random colleciton of players who have no link to the club and are not chosen by the manager.

  • Any Morrison rumours? Celtic, Bournemouth, Liege? We've sold our goalkeeper, midfielder of the season and our best forward is on his way so surely he's next.

Whats to say these boys won't come in and next season get us into the play-offs. It happened at Watford.

Then RD will be signing players of a perm basis for a few quid in the Prem.

Im undecided until we actually see these players in action.
