Most importantly players like Poyet are the reason why lapsed fans and new fans will return to the Valley. He could be part of a team with average age 22 that achieves mid-table this coming season and then have a crack at the play-offs the season after. The marketing potential of promoting the club around him, Cousins Harriott and others must be huge. Would be great if a two year deal can be done but fully understand if Poyet sees a future elsewhere... Like others I question whether he would want to spend a season on a Premier League bench and if money isn't the lead motivation why not have another crack at the championship in a Charlton shirt?
Poyet has done exceptionally well and the stats prove it, he is however only 19, so he can only improve, he will make more key passes as experience and the quality of player in front of him improves. Hopefully he will develop with us - I still have faith .. albeit waning

I may be cynical but I think footballers start talking about what happens on the pitch AFTER they have discussed money.
He would be a massive loss without doubt the best midfielder at the club is he.prem ready yet I don't think he would be able to move to a club that he in a yr or 2 deserve to be at yet
He would benefit more staying here than anywhere else and if it's not money motivation then he should stay
Im sure we have offered him something (not ITK) but if you was him why would you sign for a team that has an untried manager-----ghas just let its first team goal keeper go---didnt replace its best two players last season---where the Captain hasnt signed on either----and last season brought in sub standard leiges players , who you saw every day and knew they were shit.
Yes along time to go before the new season but at the moment we look like a basket case-------a team that at best clings onto staying up---maybe.
Surely better to sign for a team newly relegated from the Prem or a team that will defo push for promotion.
Much as i would love him to stay JR /Hammer going and Big bob coming i cant see anyway he will be here next season. One more season ? and we get relegated dont see how that helps Diegos career.
If in the next couple of weeks we sign some players and look like we are at least going to have a go ---he might see that its worth another season.
10 new "whoThe FuckAreTheys" from RDs broom cupboard and he is off
all the people saying good riddance and the like.....
reconsider your lives
the lad is pure class, if it weren't for him we would be in league one right now
we have an unknown manager/no real signs of squad strengthening as of yet and all our 'best' players are on their bike, he is quite rightly regarded as one of the best young midfielders outside of the premier league coveted by top clubs here and abroad.... what would you do if you were him?
whatever/wherever you choose Diego, I wish you every success
Diego was a really fond of Powell and was good mates with Hughsy. Theyve both left, and you'll be hard pushed not to say that the clubs not in a mess, why should he risk his future on what must feel like a sinking boat?
DP has helped save Charlton from one relegation. Maybe he doesn't fancy having to do it again. It is down to the management to give hope to DP, potential incoming players, and supporters that this season will be different to the last. It is a lesson that the management should be considering as how to blend Academy players into the first team. Also to make sure the contract situations are sorted out and these kind of situations are managed in the best way they can be.

Is Poyet really that far behind the likes of some of the players at clubs like Palace, Hull or West Brom?

And leave next season
Good luck to him
Too little and too late comes to mind. Good luck Diego.

You can keep that as a freebie or I'll delete or change to a like , whatever you'd prefer ;-)
(I am on 675 likes and if I get 700 likes, it will be a good omen for Diego Poyet staying on. Just 25 to go)
That was normally the club that was mentioned in the past when the Gus needing Diego only staying at Charlton to complete his education rumour arose.
He has signed a contract but not for us or Arsenal.
I just hope he gets the service EE say they provide.
I admit he probably will go but until it happens, I am saying he will stay here
