Some idea of sources from CAFC & Red Robin would be good. It would be very sad not to see him stay and play.

Not the most reliable of sources put it that way. Hopefully I'm wrong.

    Let's hope so, RR !
  • Reserves is a very good source normally which is very depressing :0(
  • cant help but think that diego and gus don't have a very high opinion of the way RD sacked Powell. For that reason he would really want out.

It's pretty obvious he will want to leave, we are a sinking ship in more ways than one. He can get better wages and play with a lot more talent around him by leaving, doesn't bother me if we get money for him to be honest. It will go into RD's pocket and can't see it coming back into the club in any positive sense. He will be replaced by an untrained in the English football leagues, network player.

Wish him well when he does go, he has went about his career perfectly, he's on peoples radars now and is a grafter with real real potential
  • This guy gets better every single week. I still can't understand how he is only 18!

I've heard we'll get one more year of him if we stay up

That is better news. It is a big if though without any further players coming into the squad. I guess we will get to see whether Jose Riga can find some goals in the team.

  • Contract negotiations are underway with Poyet, Hamer, Morison and Dervite. The questions from that are they prepared to sign and what if they do are the escape clauses.

A club source before anyone asks, but not a startling revelation really.
  • To be fair, all of those players have proven themselves in the Championship-they probably don't fancy another year in League One so you can hardly blame them for stalling.

Another four reasons why staying up is so important.....
  • If he refuses to sign anything then as soon as we're either safe from relegation (ideally) or relegated then JJ should do him in training. At least he'll piss off with a limp.

If however he signs then JJ should not do this .....
  • Why would any of the few decent players we have sign now? They were messed about by the last owners, new owners sack the manager who brought them in. Have seen a bunch of average SL players come in. Can't blame any of them now waiting to see what League we are in and who's the manager.
  • I received the weekly 'what's trending on Twitter' email this morning and saw Diego Poyet favourite someone else's tweet 'Please! im begging! sign a new contract with us #CAFC !' I got all excited just before noticing the date was Mar. 18..... Anyway, still a positive sign. I don't think he would have favourited that tweet if he had already made the determination to leave the club.

How can the club offer the same person more than 1 deal ? Is that something that happens a lot ? (ps I get that he cant sign both :))

    Don't know.

Guessing it is £xxx pa for three years or £x pa for two years but as I said guessing.

Yer that makes sense, releagtion/Promo/big club clauses too i guess
  • Or could mean they have offered him a contract on two occasions
  • Or it could mean a contract if we're in the Championship & a lesser one in League 1.
  • no hope of him signing if we are in League 1.
  • Or it could mean a contract if we're in the Championship & a lesser one in League 1.

League 1 means he is gone, 100% no doubt about that
  • I think we could agree a minimum fee release if we go down.I agree he is already too good for L1.

Maybe the Contract will just state... Your going to earn £X amount regardless of the Championship or League One yet if we're relegated and a big club come in for you then we wont stand in the way should we receive £X amount of money

    Edit (After a Thought)

Diego has to be careful himself... He was one of the best players against Burnley and they tried taking him out a few times... Should some nasty Kevin Muscat type player succeed then we could say "Nah we wont offer a Contract because of your injury" and the same could be said for so called "Big clubs", at least if he did sign even a token Contract he'd be safe from this sort of thing

Wasnt it Rufus who was due to sign a Contract yet got his nasty injury and we withdrew it?
  • The simple consideration for Diego is that he needs a reason to stay because he knows full well he can get a gig elsewhere.
