I've heard from a reliable source at the club (Harvey the cat) that the stumbling block is the assist bonus. His argument is, no matter how many he puts on a plate for spongefoot, he aint earning...........

I had a neutral fan sat behind me on Saturday (Liverpool fan) and all he talked about was how Poyet was a class above anyone else on the pitch. Typical Charlton though we have a fan digging him out for not passing forward, which he clearly does do, against Huddersfield springs immediately to mind pin-point pass to leave Sordell one on one with the keeper.

those "fans" would still be complaining if our name was barcelona and we played tiki taka.
  • Mate of mine knows him and my girlfriend and his girlfriend are close. They both say that he doesn't think he'd go to Spain unless his Dad went to manage there.

We'll see and hope they're right!

Would love to see him in a Charlton shirt again next season, one of the bright lights in a miserable season.

It was pretty tongue in cheek if I'm honest and it is OK to address me directly rather than in a passive aggressive manner. If you read any of my other posts regarding Poyet (look at tonight's preview for example) you'll see how highly I rate him.

I checked he said definitely not passive, he declined to comment on the aggressive as he said I asked him in a threatening manner :)

It was noticeable that he did make a few surges forward on saturday - he is absolute class but possibly has been playing conservatively and now he's established himself, both he and the manager will try and get him doing more in the attacking half - after all, we're not exactly blessed there but i also think they are being very careful to nurture and develop him in the right way and in doing that we may just be able to get him to sign up and realise the asset we have. I think he'll sign if we stay up.

Ridiculous thing to say. RD is a business man not a fool . Even if he let his contact run out because of his age we would get more than that through a tribunal .

doesn't go to a tribunal any more though. payments have already been set out and agreed by all FL Clubs with the PL, a decision which CAFC voted against by the way. I believe we would get an initial payment of 400k and then increases on that due to games played, int'l caps etc etc up to a maximum of 3m, in time.

    Idiot
Not an idiot, just basing it on what I've heard. You may be surprised at his supposed business logic.

Would it not be better logic to get a contract signed and then get 5m for him ?. The bloke is supposed to be worth 400m, that doesn't happen by being a fool

Isn't that only if he goes to an English team Large ?

Lets ignore the word from SLP saying that he's offered Poyet more than one deal and believe your clearly informed speculation instead.

If he goes abroad we still get compensation.

But I thought the compensation was set, as Large said, by virtue of the agreement of the 92 clubs, which obviously doesn't include non-English league clubs, so who sets the compensation if he goes abroad ?
  • No compo if he goes abroad.

I heard this just after millwall game, so hopefully Roland has seen sense.
