Had to get to Camden for 7pm last night. Absolute farce. Train ti CX from Sidcup was showing on time when I left home 20mins before it was due. Get on the platform and it is cancelled. The Cannon Street one turns up 20mins late and then takes 25mins to get from Lewisham to New X. Got off for Overground as the train was hotter than the sun. Overground late by 10 mins, then terminates at Shadwell for no reason. Next one apparently going to Highbury terminates at Cannonbury. By that time I had 25mins to get to the venue and no trains so a cab was hailed. Back at CX around 11 and utter chaos still prevailled. One train - to Eltham which was again like a sauna and so overcrowded it was like the Northern Line in rush hour. Platform staff standing around laughing at CX, no announcements. Utter jokers.
This thread makes me so thrilled to be moving from Central London back to SE London in the next few weeks. Can't wait to add my own stories of grief on here.

Look forward to reading them. A couple of tips for your journey
- Wear a rucksack - Don't shave or shower before getting on the trains - Eat smelly food - Discuss last nights sexual encounters loudly over the phone - If you remove your rucksack, put it on a seat, or better still put your feet up - Oh, and don't get on the train at New Eltham please.
The Jubilee line is not running between Canary Wharf and Waterloo due to a fire alert at London Bridge. Currently being investigated. Obviously hope its nothing serious. But no doubt southeastern will come out in sympathy.
It's at times like this that I am glad a good friend is celebrating her Voluntary Redundancy tonight and I will be too pissed by the time I leave Canary Wharf to worry too much about getting home!! Good luck all
P.S. Have used the Clipper the last couple of days from Woolwich to Blackfriars & back to Canary Wharf. Damn sight more relaxing than worrying about SouthEastern, Southern or Tubes!!
Not affecting the trains as such, but there's a bloody big hole in the road bridge by Novar Road at New Eltham. I think Thames Water have moved the hole from Main Road, Sidcup which appeared two weeks ago.
The day I have to pick my daughter up and the train's late and no indication of by how long. Had to get a Bexleyheath line one, anyone know if there's a cab office at Falconwood?

A couple of nice looking young ladies have started working at my station. One on the gates and one on the platform. One of them was in the same school year as me but at the girls school so vaguely know her. Always makes me slightly less angry getting a smile after a horrendous train journey.
Although to counter that I do have one story of gross incompetence crass ineptitude to share.
Left work a little late today so had to jog to Victoria got there and got to the barriers. There were 5 (yes five) of the usual melons standing by the barriers.
Now for context I have a season ticket, lasts a year, but of course southeastern can't produce a ticket that works in the barriers more than 4 or 5 times. I have given up getting replacement ones and just go to the person.
So I'm running late and I see 5 people there I'm like great I will get through straight away and make my train. But no. Only one out of the 5 has a thing that will let you through the barriers! So I go through all of them before anyone can let me through. I just make my train!
What the fuck is the point of having 5 cretins standing there like melons at the barriers if they can't fucking do anything?! At least one of them stand by the gate for buggy and disabled etc and let us through that way!

Do you keep your S/T in your wallet with your debit/credit cards ?
I have a feeling the magnetic strips may effect your S/T.
I may of course be talking *&%$£*&, but I seem to have heard it somewhere.
Keep your ticket away from your mobile phone. Tickets can be affected by credit cards - keep them separate. Avoid washing or immersing your ticket in water. Your ticket won't go through the ticket gates if it is bent or screwed up. Keep it flat in a ticket wallet. Do not cut or tear your ticket. Leaving your ticket in the sun or next to a heat source like a radiator can affect it. Tampering with the magnetic strip or any travel detail on your ticket could invalidate it. Do not allow your ticket to become coated with dirt or other foreign substances. Strong substances can affect the ticket. Try to avoid leaving your ticket near to anything that could affect it. Keep your ticket away from headphones for iPods, MP3 players etc.
It's not debit cards that affected mine. I bought a new phone case after smashing my phone and the case had one of those magnetic shutting clips which shut the case... no sooner had I had gotten a replacement ticket and shoved in bag (next to phone) it wasn't working 2 mins later at the barrier.
Tried all of those things. Even Brough a specific leather wallet for tickets that was designed to protect it. Mine is one of those flimsyold paper tickets. The best I have had it last is a couple of weeks. Given up now.

So treat it like it's made of f**king diamond, and even then it'll stop working because the machines themselves are filthy and add grime to the ticket when you use them

Fun fact. 30% of the UK population have an allergy. The most common of these and more more than half of all allergies is a nut allergy. I am inflicted thus.
Maybe a bag of nuts isn't the best snack to eat on the train. I'm not gonna tell you not to eat nuts on a train or if you having someone sitting next to you. Of course not.
However I am gonna say that if you are gonna eat a bag of nuts on a train don't be a imbecile about it. Keep them to yourself keep your hands to yourself. Eat them like a human. Don't spill them all over you and the person next to you.

Traffic not too bad but the bridge is closed.
shame they've ended up working for a cynical shower of shit for an employer. They really do not deserve each other.
Hopefully the shining lights at Greenwich, Lewisham and Abbey Wood can inspire some level of adequacy and charm in their colleagues at Dartford, who ain't cut from the same cloth.

Done this for the past five years and on the back of one hand have there been cancellations or delays.
