You don't get as many groups of people going about 'trainspotter bashing' as you do going about 'gay bashing' or 'queer bashing'. Could it be that piss taking of minority groups provides a tiny bit of legitimacy in the eyes of the very few who indulge in hate crime?
I bet you are only telling a small part of the story. I bet you argued with the copper and were generally a lot more of twat than appears even from your own account.
Why do you say that?
We all ake mistakes, we all do stupid things we regret and look back on with embrassment or shame.
Think you're being a bit out of order there.
Made me laugh Brendan, i know im telling the truth on this thread, otherwise if i was lieing, noone of what u say would matter because i knew i would be in the wrong, the fact is, I was polite, i wasn't rude, i didn't swear, i wasn't being abusive. so dont try and tell me im a twat when u dont know me, seems like your twat to be fair. theirs always one.......
I didn't say you did mate. I said the person that said you did was being out of order. Have another read of it.
im not calling u a twat Brenden!, i ment that other geezer!
Probably not the best reply to win any support for your case.
probably not, but dont like being called a liar, especially when you dont know me.

What's with all this prawn sandwich brigade malarkey? So if you are not drunk, pissed out your head and don't like standing then you are a PSB?
I have sent your story round a group of lads in the office, highly amusing thread so massive thumbs up from me.
In fact i was very poilte, helped them out, like i said, i wasn't arrested for being drunk, or homophobic, the point im getting through, was i hard done by in the first place. if u dont believe me you dont have to, i know im telling truth.
"I do beg your pardon sir, but would you be so kind as to tell me if your boyfriend knows you are here?"
Since when did coppers have the power to force you to leave town? Thought this was Brighton, not the Wild West!
Section 27 of the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 is designed to prevent potential 'alcohol-related disorder' and gives the police powers to move individuals on from a specified area for up 48 hours. The police serving the order need to have good reason and evidence to support their assertion that you are likely to cause alcohol-related crime or disorder (just being in a pub is not just cause).
If you're are told to move on from the locality, the police can specify the means and route, although the law fails to define 'locality,' so they could force you to travel a considerable distance.
Yes you were in the wrong. No it isn't worse than racism. Whether some Brighton fans thought it was funny or not has nothing to do with it. Any that were gay would probably have found it difficult to challenge you about it. Not to mention those who had nothing to do with the match. To those who are not able to respond because they feel intimidated, banter like this is bullying, which is the first step on the way to hate crime. I'm sure it was youthful high spirits and bad luck not getting in to see the match, but you f***ed up, no one else. I've done similar stuff myself, and worse, in years gone past because I couldn't resist "a joke"and only years later looked back and cringed at myself.
thing is, you have learnt a lesson and won't do it again (we hope) .. lots of coppers on duty, lots of expenditure on 'security' and peace keeping = a few people get nicked and/or cautioned to prove that the money was well spent and the security blanket was worthwhile .... you were unlucky but a bit naïve not to say arrogant to get into the situation in the first place .. hurling insults about even in a jocular fashion as you saw it is never worth it .. you gave the OB reason to nick you .. and they did
If you chanted for a 'laugh', what is funny about it? Is it to see the amusing expressions of a shocked reaction from the general populace? Is it to exhibit a stunningly original bit of humour to others? Is it to imply that Brighton fans are somewhat diminished compared to the 100% hetrosexual Charlton support...because it is indeed laughable to imply that all Addicks are hetrosexual. Is it funny because the implication is that to a Brighton fan their football is their unfaithful love compared to their partner? It may even be because it is supposed to be a witty chant to an old tune...I can't see how it is particularly funny? Surely our support can be more original and creative in it's chants, and actually be a bit funny?
It is laughable, but isn't that the point? The police's interpretation of the law is also laughable. Being unfunny isn't a crime (except Miranda, now that's criminal). If it's wrong to chant 'Does your boyfriend know you're here' it's equally wrong to chant 'Does your girlfriend know you're here' if it's about harassment on the basis of sexual orientation. Yet who'd get arrested for chanting that?
It's all a bit puerile to be honest - I wouldn't be chanting that stuff, and certainly not on the street - but whenever this comes up I can't help but recall that documentary on homosexuals and football when Matt Lucas declared he found the chanting by away fans at Brighton funny and witty. There's a humour bypass going on here, and for the police to prevent the OP from attending the game because he chanted what he did is in my view a huge abuse of power. A warning would have been more than sufficient.
Frankly speaking, if you're chanting that in Brighton you're more likely to be reflecting the local populous than just about anywhere else in the country. Too many people getting offended on other people's behalf. It's not as if he's threatening anyone, after all.
That said, the original question was 'was it my fault?' - and the answer is undoubtedly yes; if you'd not chanted that stuff in the street none of it would have happened. Grow up, frankly.
Saturday was the worst day of my life, i got my match ticket taken of me befor game in brighton highstreet for singing ' do your boyfriends know you here' with a mate, even brighton fans joined in, but the ticket got taken of my by police beacuse i was being homaphobic (lol), we was told to leave brighton for 8 hours, yes i should of left, but i came all the way to brighton so i thought i would chance getting ticket at ground. I go caught by a copper outside away end and he hancuffed me and my pal and through us in meatwagon and we got put in a cell till 11:30pm.
Yes some fans think its wrong to sing that, and others will agree its not, but what gets me is, every brighton fan i spoke to said they DO not find it in anyway offencive , and said its what all teams to they find it funny, its banter at end of the day.
Should i of got arrsested and match ticket taking of me? They aid i was being worse than racist.
Also, how come Muslims extreamists can sing during a march from our soilders 'british soilders burn in hell' and our aloud to get away with it beacuse freedom of speach, but a i get pulled for singing a song, that noone found offencive, or no one reported??
worst away day ever.
oh and befor you all jump on the bandwagon, im not in anyway a 'hooligan' i go to games with my dad, have done for 14 years, the one away game i dont go with him this happens.
hahaha made my day!, no i stayed at my mates in thamesmede for the night, had to pay £40 for taxi from lewishham, also had to run to catch the last train from preston park (brighton)
Speaking as Charlton's only gay fan (maybe), I don't find the chant hateful. It is childish and puerile but I've only heard it sung in a good-natured way. But while I may consider it to be banter, others might not. The police should have told you to stop because you might cause offence. It seems they went overboard. If Charlton was heavily populated with gay clubs, pubs, saunas etc, and opposition fans sang it it us, I don't think I'd be upset. (I have a very nice boyfriend and he always knows I'm at the game because I'd have been getting stressed/excited about it all day). But I'm sure some of our straight and narrow-minded fans would get themselves into a right little tizzy if they were on the receiving end. When I sing, it's only in support of the Addicks. I grew out of wasting my time by singing abuse/banter at opposition fans.

For your sake, if you did take the lingerie, perhaps you should return it and avoid anymore issues with the police.
