  • If talksport could sack Jonny Vaughan then that would be nice as well.
  • Decent radio journalist/presenter .. as said, a good face for radio .. he's back on 5Live at 10 a.m. 2 days a week .. I like him, especially as I don't have to watch him .. I guess ITV sacked him because he costs a lot and with their lack of televised football he is no longer needed
  • Think there was more to it, his contract was up at the end of the season anyway, but he is leaving with immediate effect.
  • It's funny how his popularity has fallen, as on MOTD2 he was well liked
  • Leaving ITV apparently.

    What's ITV?

Agree he is good on the radio, as is Peter Allen who does the same show on the other days.

  • Give the job to Steve Claridge...
  • Like him a lot. Conversley I think Pougers is great on the radio, but his journalisitic talents carry a humorless facade. I'm not saying he's unfunny, just that his style on TV is magnified and becomes colder. Chiles is affable and was able to pose questions, that most of the Hansen ol boys network would've laughed down from others; a la Colin Murray. His presenting of MOTD2 was way above those who've replaced him.

2Good2Bad had his personality in there, Chappers and Murray's bit seemed forced: I like how Chappers regularly involves varying footy journalists, but that's what ITV did previously on their last prem highlights round. Personally Chiles is way above his rivals.

Pougatch is very low profile and straight in his presentation, very much the journalist. It'll be interesting whether he'll keep his presentation like that for the England game, or become more 'banterish'.

Chiles worked very well on MOTD2, it gave the show a different feel to the old boys club of main MOTD.
  • Thank god.

Can't stand Pougatch though. One of those who only seems capable of talking about the issues going on at the top 6 Premier League sides based on his Radio 5 Live shows.

I dislike him too, thinks he's an investigative journalist and asks the obvious questions and ignores the answers
  • Horrible bloke, despised by all those who work with him apparently

    Who Chiles or Pougatch?

    Maybe both.

    Sacked apparently - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2923246/ITV-football-presenter-Adrian-Chiles-loses-job-immediate-effect-replaced-Mark-Pougatch.html

Another one I won't miss. Seems like a nice bloke, but will always remember how much he struggled to fill air time when Poland vs England kick off was delayed (and subsequently cancelled), and again when play was suspended due to a storm during England's World Cup warm up against Honduras last summer. The week before the World Cup starts and you can't think of anything to talk about. Jeez....

I can tell you that's not true.
  • Enchilda, Sir? Well, arachnids lie, but he has a salaried chin after flying Chad Airlines.

Perhaps you should get out more mate...

Disagree wholeheartedly. Allen is very good and Chiles is very poor in comparison even if you discount his irritating Black Country accent. So bad I would turn it off (5 live) at hearing his whining voice. Not picking on him but they simply must have better people for current events shows.
  • Absolute wanker nicking a living!!!
  • Hated the hamfisted way he used to take about 3 attempts to stutter his way through a question, only to go blundering rudely in before the interviewee had finished their answer. Summed up ITV for me
  • Don't get many of the comments on here and in general social media, about him. Comes across as bullying to be honest.
  • Disliked him on TV but his book "we don't know what we're doing is a good read for any fan"

It's bullying to criticise people if they do their job horribly? I'll tell that to my boss in my next disciplinary.

Like I said in a previous post, simple jealously - we all think "I could do that", and instead of being happy for a proper football fan getting the opportunity to prick the pomposity of the ex-player brigade and their "You don't know anything unless you have played at the top level" shtick - the green eyed monster rears it's ugly head...

Jealous of what? I'm not jealous of tv presenters. I don't want to do that line of work, not one bit. Presenters like Chiles have the privelege of working on a sport I'm destined to watch regardless of the channel that holds the rights, and as such, I'd like it if they were capable of completing a sentence without stuttering like a buffoon. Every. Time. Or even apologise properly for what I regard as the greatest sports coverage fuck up of all time.

I'm sure he's a nice guy and I don't dislike him as a person, i just couldn't watch him present ITV's coverage. I had to turn over. It's probably fair to argue that social media has helped hound him out of a job, but then again it's a platform for feedback, and the viewers have spoken.
