Waiting for seriously_red to come on here slagging off RD for setting a precedent and breaking FPP...

*edit* oh hang on just seen him praising RD for "getting his cheque book out" on another thread

Genuinely shocked by the rumoured value of Vetokele and Buyens - I was hoping for 6 x £1M players on loan or bought to top up what we have already. Regarding FFP my attitude is play it straight and then burn some money the minute the club looks ready to have a crack at the top six. I thought that was 12 months away minimum. The January window could be very interesting IF we are in the top half of the table.

Gotta feel for Riga - for whatever reason he has lost out on a blinding opportunity. The best young players topped up with €2-3M imports. Not what he's gonna find at Blackpool.

Is this the 'sweaty' striker we've been crying out for?

Månedens spiller = Player of the month - the video consist of goals scored within the same month last season!

Looks like a right fox in the box, we just need to get it into the box for him, something we've struggled for many a years and it's why we have a never ending list of failed strikers!

My very flimsy first impression based on the videos is that he is a bit like a young Ian Wright.

Been trawling thought some of his work, he seems to be a real sneaky striker, most of his goals are little touches deep in the box which sneak past the keeper
He seems quite able to get on the end of a good cross, hope he mixes well with Harriott then, few of his goals are easy 1-on-1s with a GK, he's always got a defender draped all over him yet still has the control to make the finish

I do worry that Championship defenders will bully him but I've seen a few Danish defenders in the odd Euro League game, they aren't quite 'continental' in defense lets say, very rough and tough like over here

I hope he bags 10+ goals, he looks like he can

Then again Chris Dickson wouldn't have ever cost £2.5 million, even if he was made of gold.

    4. Biggish, doesn't yet look ready - the Pig

    5. Biggish, hard to believe he will ever be ready (tho' I would dearly love him to succeed) - Polish Pete

Too tall. I hear that they are shrinking quickly, but not sure if they will be ready (5'3" or a "Solly") in time for the new season.

    Like his movement and anticipation.

Always seems to be in the right place at the right time.

Does sponsorship come into FFP now? We have three kit sponsors now and no one knows how much they're worth.

I do have some info and in the context of the sums being discussed here and FFP it's not a meaningful difference. You wouldn't expect our value to sponsors to have shot up since 12 months ago and it hasn't. The secondary kit slots are only ever going to be modest five figures in the FL. The three together may be worth as much or slightly more than the shirt sponsor alone was in 2012. In terms of FFP, Paul Hart leaving will have a much bigger impact than the sponsorship deals, but that'll be a fraction of Igor's wages. I look forward to seeing this guy and what happens next. Can't say things are dull at Charlton.

But I think his agent thought differently!

I do not know how the fair play system works. Could we sell a player to Standard for £5mil and balance the books.

Yes, although the dual ownership might lead to some questions from the football league. A bit like with Watford and their loans it is a loophole that could be closed if the other clubs see us taking an "unfair" advantage.

Not happened as yet though and may never do.

Yes, player sales to Liege or whoever may well play a part in meeting FFP limits and balancing the books.
I don't know the detail but Belgium football has tight financial limits too. It makes sense for both clubs to buy, sell and loan players through the network to make the best use of budgets available.

    Thanks Airman.
  • Really don't know what to say about the size of the fee (if true). Just hope that reality meets expectation about this guy. Welcome Igor!

    Wonder if COG will follow?

    Think he still might
    I'm confident he will sign.

COG and Igor up top. Interesting times.
    Not forgetting World Cup Reza.

Whether it's CoG or another, let's trust we get our big man up front, good in the air with decent holdup play.

No, I think that Peeters has spotted a weakness in that the Championship centre backs are picked for their ability in the air and hoofball, so we will attack on the floor using speed - Reza and Igor, our twin strike force next season latching onto through passes and fast and low crosses behind the back four Mark these words. No need for a lump of a centre forward that only encourages hoofballs... So COG is out!

No Plan B... one guy who netted 1 in however many apps, still adapting to the league and one untested. Not buying it, need a target man and probably another striker considering how useful Church is. Will be food and drink for teams to work us out after a few games if we have no plan B to move onto!

I think Peeters has been quoted as saying that he likes to play with a big target man.

Definately a bit excited about all of this activity ... I can see us starting to put togetehr something a little bit special in fact ... the money on the stadium, the money on the pitch, the money on the academy and now the money on some players... hmmm...

at £2.4 million or whatever he cost us, I don't think Igor will be one for the future, he will be expected to make an impact.

Looks like he's got a fair old set of shoulders on him, should be able to barge a few defenders about with those!

Quite small. In the 'nippy striker' category.
  • I think they've made an error going for red shorts. Is it just me or does Igor look like he's wearing a strapless dress?

Didn't polish pets make a impact on his debut then.

I heard he just rolled over for the defenders lol!
