I'm sure you just do this deliberately now! There's no way someone can be that oblivious!!

Dunno what you're on about but I heard JBG wants to stay because he's really happy here. You heard it here first!

In truth though - JBG signing a new deal would possibly result in a sex wee. He's the sort of player that will take us to the next level. No doubt in my mind

Agreed. For me JBG is as good a RM we will see outside of the Premier League. If he does leave any time while we're in The Championship we'd be lucky to see another RM just as good ever. Definitely the best RM we've had on the books since 2007 and quite possibly better than some of the RM's we had in the Premier League years too.
  • Good news if true, very decent player.

    Ah, now I'm worried.
  • We could have a team of JBG's. We still wouldn't beat Millwall. In case you havnt noticed. Yes I'm still hurting.

If we give him POTY, will it make it more likely he stays or do a diego and piss off anyway?

does anyone know how much JBG is on

He's on the minimum wage, and wants the London living wage.

Look at past players of the year. Not always the case

Johann Berg Gudmundsson will either sign a new contract in July or will be sold.
Katrien/Roland don't want him to run down his contract.

After Last year if the winner leaves in the summer the POTY award should go to the runner up, if they leave, you keep going down the list until you get to Church or Moussa if necessary !

How does whether someone leaves have an impact on how well they played the season before? That's what the POTY award is evaluating after all.

Should have put the smiley face about the POTY.

I know Cousins is one of our own , but really should be a two horse race.

    Henderson or JBG.
    with Jordan Cousins 3rd.

Cawley just tweeted that he spoke to JBG on Saturday and he confirmed talks will soon take place.

    Very encouraging.

To me you sign a two year deal with a view to a move. I think a premiership club will come in in all honesty. I don't really want another player of the year who is playing for somebody else. :)

Well actually after reading his comment its not that encouraging lol

"I'll just take this season and see what happens in the summer," said Gudmundsson. "After this I only have one year left."

Sounds a bit like 'shop window' talk to me - the club knows he has a year left, the fans know so there's no real need to mention it. It's like saying, 'in case you didn't know already, I've only got a year left so I'll probably be a bargain if you buy me this summer!'
Compare it to how Eagles worded his situation in terms of wanting to stay etc and doesn't seem promising.
Of course, it could just be me reading too much into it, seeking something juicy to overcome end of season mid-table obscurity syndrome!

Good fit for a relegated Prem team like Leicester. Grrrr

I really hope we sign him to a long term deal. My favourite player for some years and reckon he'll get better.

I don't see why he would want to move to another Championship side this summer, the logical options are
    1) sign an long term better contract with us
    2) move to a lower PL team (e.g. Norwich or Boro if they get promoted)
    3) stay with us and see what happens next summer when he's a free agent (if we got promoted then he'd probably stay, otherwise he'd probably leave)

I don't think letting his contract run down will be an option for RD or KM

I was thinking about what he would want to do. And no player can be forced to move...

he's a creative player and was brand new to english football. Only giving him a 2 year contract was the right move at the time, if it wouldn't have worked out we couldve got shot of him. Now is the time to offer him a new deal though.

Might be wrong but I get the feeling that was more to do with him not wanting anything more than 2 years. He had been at a club in the Europa League, he wasn't a complete unknown that we were taking a chance on.

Although a different type of player Igor signed a 5 year deal and had no experience at all of English football. JBG had at least played for Chelsea and Fulham as a youngster.

This would probably be the best contract renewal of our current team if we do get an extra couple of years on there. Gomez would also be a good idea
