I heard before we started our positive run that the club wanted to engage in contract extension talks, but he wanted to see how ambitious we were before signing, so it may well be summer before the situation is resolved.
Wouldn't think Katrien saying we have the 3rd lowest budget this season is going to help ?

I suspect he will judge by actions not words - as we do.
Must admit, i havnt been to as many games as you guys - prob about 10, and he was anonymous in more of them than he was good - however i'm not denying what you guys are saying in that he's our best player - just hasnt displayed it in front of me. Dont get me wrong i dont want us to sell any of our good players, but if, as mentioned by a few that that is RD's business model and its inevitable , then maybe it might be a good bit of business instead of having to sell 2/3 good players.
I think it is vital we keep our best players if we want to progress and JBG is one of our best players. In recent years we have been crying out for players who can score from midfield. He can also create and that is vital.
I wonder if there are any other Icelandic bargains to be had out there? I notice that the bloke who scored 2 yesterday,Bjarnason, plays for Pescara in Serie B - whenever ive seen Iceland play he's been one of their stars players.

Just noticed on this blokes Wiki page that he once played for SL, and that he is in Co-owned! by Pescara - who with, SL? (how can a player be co-owned, play for one team one week, and then the other the next ??)
Get in... Thank you Lars Lagerbäck & Heimir Hallgrímsson for resting him for Friday
shame they have not sent him home altogether, I notice Eidur Gudjohnsen is not even on the bench despite playing the other game, guessing they sent him home

He's only half-Icelandic and represents the United States but would love to see us sign Aron Jóhannsson (Striker)
Currently plays for AZ and was a good mate of JBG as remember when he signed for Charlton, Aron was disappointed about him leaving

We should sign him if only so we can sing this song for him
Gudmundsson heading for Prem Johann Gudmundsson could be heading for the Premier League at the end of the season, reports this morning's Football League Paper. The paper notes, 'Gudmundsson is keen on moving up because there is no chance of him playing in the Premier League with the Addicks, while Charlton know they have to be realistic in terms of bigger clubs coming in to tempt players away from The Valley.'
Stoke and Hull City have been checking him out in recent weeks with a view to making a move in the summer. Bournemouth are also watching him, while Nottingham Forest would renew their interest if they were promoted.
It's certainly possible but from what I've seen I doubt he would get many Premier League starts. Doubles his money at least and can probably get a good gig in Germany in a season or two.
As always with this scenario I won't be heartbroken if we get decent money and re invest it. If it's used to break even then at least we know where the club stands in terms of RD's ambition.
Pure press speculation. So that makes Gomez/Cousins/Fox /Gudmundsson all possibly leaving. So many rumours coming along now West Ham fans had Solly there player a few years ago. Lets wait and see. Even if they all went I would still go as I've supported Charlton for 55 years and have seen lots of good players leave, but my heart is with Charlton
I'm sorry but how you can have a rumour and 'there is no chance of him playing in the premier league with the addicks' in the same piece and then print it in a paper is nonsense!

JBG would struggled if away from home and under the cosh, anyone at Millwall
would know that.
Class on the Ball, can look lost when trying to defend.
Johann stay at CAFC, one more season. you have given us so much flair to the attacking part of our game.
The best tackle all season was against Cardiff when you scored that Worldy at the Covered end to earn us a draw when we only had 10 men.
