    Think its based on MOTM awards and as he won all 3 of the group stage MOTM awards its not really surprising

    other teams had more than one player who performed well so MOTM awards were spread amongst the teams and I dont any other play got more than 3

    Just heard this after the game on BBC. Absolute joke, its laughable. I suppose with Messi featuring on the front cover of the fifa 14 and new fifa 15 games and some major money exchanging hands their golden boy had to win it. Honestly don't think any other player had a chance of winning.

    For years FIFA have been accused (rightly or wrongly) of favouring Messi, this hardly helps that image does it?
    As others have said, he wasn't even the best Argentinian.

    Robben, Vlaar, Rodriguez, Navas, Ochoa, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Mueller, Neuer, Mascherano... I could go on. All have been imo better than Messi. So predictable from FIFA.
