We saw that a two year deal from 17 leaves us with a potentially great player such as Poyet able to walk away for minimal compo at 19.
Now we have Gomez on a longer deal ( new three-year contract, with the option of a further year) and so we both get to see more of him in a Charlton shirt and see a bigger fee when/if he is sold during the time of that deal.
Good to see the RD regime aren't allowing the same "mess" to develop as left by tweedle dee and tweedle dum
Thrilled with this, well done to the club and Joe who has deserved it.
Every time I have seen Gomez play so far I was coming away thinking he had a great game and looks a fantastic player, then that element of worry he could do a Poyet would creep in. Glad that will not be the case and hopefully Joe will grow with our squad.
Really pleased for everyone concerned. This is one extremely bright talent and he has undoubtedly been offered all sorts of money to leave us and he has remained firm and stayed with us because he can, presumably, see a future here. Maybe that will bring some additional players our way too as he is mingling with the England setup.
The lad we signed from Man City the other day seems like a good capture too.
Maybe both have seen Diego not exactly ripping up trees yet and think they would do well to learn by playing rather than being surrounded on the training pitch by a load of blokes you don't understand or connect with.
Whatever the ins and outs are I am really glad we are moving in the right direction now
Great news and continues the tradition of recruiting, retaining and signing the best U18 talent. Solly, Harriott, Cousins, Piggott, Fox and now Gomez. "Made in Charlton!"
I will say again that we have got ourselves a cracking owner, with a great management team, and a very clever plan for the future. Imagine what the youngsters coming along behind Joe and the others in the Academy are dreaming about now ? And can I say well done to Joe's family who have raised not only a very talented boy, but also a level headed lad with a sense of loyalty. If we could just look into the future I have a feeling that we all might have a big smile on our face.
excellant news, big future ahead of him. glad to see that a youngster realises that playing is more important than money in the short term. if he progresses as he should it will come quickly enough anyway. thanks too to KM and especially RD. A massive improvement on the Chuckle Brothers.

Top player and top person too.

Just hope there is not a catch like his injury at Norwich being career threatening or something.
Well done to all concerned.
