I hope they sell him. He's been there ages and never really cemented his spot due to injuries, but even when fit they didn't play him as much as they could/should.

Better off signing somewhere slightly smaller and playing every game, the money in the Prem is so big now he could go to a Newcastle, Brighton, Aston Villa etc and earn as much as he's getting at Liverpool, and end up in the World Cup squad.

As it stands, being 4th or 5th choice centre back and the emergency fullback cover at Liverpool won't get him on the plane to the US

He's not even the backup full back either, as Liverpool have 2 on either side ahead of him, and will replace Trent with another right back.

He does seem to love it there so I see him staying but agree that it would be great to see him move on and really push on,.establishing himself.
My worry is that he will go to Palace to do it.  They have European football to offer next season as well as a run out at Wembley in the Charity Shield.

Apparently part of the Guehi to Liverpool conversation. Would probably screw us out of any sell on money if it happened.

Might do us a favour if it ends up being like an inflated value for Guehi for an inflated value of Gomez to help both their accounts...

likely to get a sell on AND training compo - but disappointing that its not just £££
EDIT: LFC have turned down Gomez going on loan as part of the deal

Fingers crossed they buy Guehi and sell Gomez to AC and Palace sign former defender Ryan Inniss to plug the gap
  • A nice piece here by Liverpool FC when Joe completed 10 years back in June.  I think we can assume it was a good move for him.

Out of contract in 2027, you just know he's going to see it out.

No idea why they'd consider getting rid of him anyway, he's a good player, can cover a few positions and isn't going to rock the boat if he doesn't start, he's literally the perfect squad player to have. Yes his inury record is terrible but as a backup you probably only need him to play 15 games a season.

Funny that logic doesn’t seem to apply to Burke who’s here as an alternative to Ramsay and Jones.

He's not an adventurous person. He's well-known for leading a simple life. He will never leave.

He's only move if Liverpool want him to do so but I'm not sure about adventure has anything to do with it. It's difficult to put a price on happiness and it's his and his family's happiness that matters. He's been looked after by Liverpool throughout his spells of injury, picked up countless medals, been a vital cog for them too at times and is loved by the fans in the same way as Milner was.

Would he have achieved all of that had he moved? Almost certainly not because apart from City no club has achieved more in the last decade. Although we might argue that he might have had more international recognition had he done so, the fact is that he probably would still have suffered from those injuries and his strength as being so versatile would still have been utilised thus undermining his England prospects. So he really has had little reason to move.

I've constantly bemoaned the fact that we have become a club of "revolving door" players. But then we are no different to every other. Here this season and gone next. It's the way of the world these days and Gomez, no doubt, could have forced a move on many occasions. That is why fans love players like Gomez.

Pete O’Rourke’s expecting Gomez to stay at Liverpool.

Yep, exactly. He's the kind of person who's happy with what he's got. Some other personality types might want to experience something new, but he's not that kind. Good for him, not so good for our sell-on clause.

Though had he been the type to move clubs regularly he might have left before signing pro like several academy players have and continue to do so.

We received far more money for Gomez than we did for them

Double blow, Palace keep Ghuei which means Liverpool don't sell Gomez and we don't get our payday.
