  • The other point This is the toughest game of the group, which is why for this one game you pick a player like Barry with experience
then give Delph games against San Marino and Lithuania to build up his international experience.

IMO its more proof the Hodgson is not the right man for the job same with Picking Rooney as captain

Yep, like we stuck with experience, lampard, Gerrard, Barry, Johnson, Rooney, etc in the past 3 tournaments and was absolute SHITE

Again as I said GO WITH EXPERIENCE FOR 1 GAME, this is the toughest game if we can get 3 points the group is in our hands already.
  • Wilshere - pony
    Baines - pony
Stones - don't even get me started. SO out of his depth
  • Welbeck makes a great run, looks up and sees both Rooney and Sterling in superb positions to score. Thinks to himself 'which one shall I pass to? My club teammate or the England captain?? I know I'll put it between them so they can't say I was favouring one over the other.' And Van Gaal says 'And that's why I sold him.....'
  • Think we've been alright just need a bit more in the final third.

Think Rooney has looked up for it.
  • The same Gareth Barry who was picked apart and shown up at International level four years ago? Yep, good one.

    just LOL

name one player who done anything in South Africa, it was a poor team performance not just indvicduals, Barry has experience, I may not be watching but loads of people(Reporters inlcuded) saying Delph lucky to be on the pitch, if he gets sent off it will be lack of experience and could cost England
Oh Paulie. Haven't a clue have you? Against the Germans we were undone by Terry and Barry's total lack of pace. Look it up if you're struggling to remember. I don't know why you've decided you've got an issue with Delph but if you're not watching probably best not to criticise his performance tonight
  • "We're only here for the caps, here for the caaaaaaps, here for the caaaps" ... Hahaha.

Very good from the England fans ...
  • Do you think anyone is watching this match, or is the whole country on charlton life?
  • What a save
  • Edit .., apart from Valleygary.
  • Delph's played some good passes. Only really let down by some over enthusiastic tackling. Good half from England really there, much better than I was expecting

  • I don't understand why people wouldnt watch it?
  • Good half all things considered. Probably just the better team.

Midfield needs a bit of a change, haven't seen Henderson or Wilshere at all really and Delph has a yellow so should probably come off.

Sterling gives the ball away a lot for such a talented player. Rooney is probably our best player, or Hart maybe for a few nice catches and saves.

    Club team mate?

  • I'm kidding VG, I can't believe the amount of people posting on here whilst the games going on!

I know it's not a classic, but c'mon its England.
  • Thought Baines has been good... We've been alright but lack impetus. Would bring on a wide man

    Club team mate?

Good point!! FORMER club team mate..........
  • Credit where credit's due. Great tactical plan from Hodgson to stop them playing. The Swiss centre backs Djourou and Von Bergen have been allowed to have the ball, but don't want to play the forward pass. Their job is to get it to the full backs, but we've shut them down, Welbeck backed up by Henderson on the right and Rooney/Delph on the left. Lichtsteiner is a key player for them and has been starved of possession. They can't get out. It will be interesting to see what Petkovic does in the second half, because at the moment their system & pattern of play is failing.

Sterling is a real problem coming from deep. He will torment them if we get the ball to him quickly and he can face up the centre backs. Welbeck, Rooney or Welbeck will get a goal.
  • Glen Hoddle wants to see this England team when it's 1-0 up.

    Wouldn't we all Glen....

  • Might look 'alright ' against Switzerland, but Swizerland won't be winning anything.
  • There's definitely a pun somewhere in Von Bergen(dy) and playing in the anchorman role.
  • I wish Wilshire could make the step up.
  • Tutt-Tutt said:

Stones is worrying me. he's lacking pace at this level and keeps giving the ball away. Wilshere needs to impose himself.

What is Stones doing there? Has he played RB since school? Where is Clyne, Chambers etc? Need Milner there 2nd half.
  • All very laboured and desperate so far, not that I was expecting any different. Wilshere really is pants.
  • Looked ok so far. Other than a couple of over enthusiastic tackles Delph has been fine. Can't believe someone was actually calling for Gareth Barry to be reinstated to the side! Nothing like looking to the future....

Stand by my comments about Jones and Wilshere, not up to it at this level.

Stones has increasingly worried me as the game has gone on. Far too slow for an international full back. Have a real problem at right back - Johnson is equally poor.

Welbeck, Rooney and Sterling all look dangerous.

    Hopefully nick it 1-0.
  • No England for me tonight
first time in a long time its on TV and I aint watching

Football is appalling Rooney and Delph should not be playing
Spain V Macedonia for me tonight

maybe you should start watching a team like man city instead of charlton with that kind of attitude

yes england haven't been playing their best in recent games but why would you actively choose to not get behind your national team? it makes absolutely no sense.. you take the bad with the good, not wait for the good to come around when it does

    come on england!
  • 100% - Fabian Delph completed all 26 of his passes in the first half vs Switzerland.
  • Didn't think Tyldesley could get any worse but he's just suggested a player will bring his own aerosol and move the free kick. What a total aerosol Tyldesly is!!!
  • Quality save from Hart.
