apple haven't actually invented anything since i think wozniak left the company. Since then they've taken components from other devices and companies and put it into their own hipster design.
Anyone that buys one on contract must be mad . I'm buying mine outright for the first time (legally) as I realised just how much more buying on contract works out to.
Anyway must go , got to get my sleeping bag out as I don't want to get cold sleeping on the pavement outside the Apple store on Regent Street.
I'll be interested to see what sort of reductions there are on the 5s once the 6 deals are released.
Not paying the money they want for a 6 but have been considering a 5s for a while.
Snap, never had a 'new release' phone, always a year behind the curve, and pick up at 2nd tier pricing around the 25 a month level. However, currently out of contract so paying a higher amount for a 3-year old phone.
Been looking at the 5s for a while. Never had an iPhone but to me all others now are too big and verging on tablets. Want a smartphone that fits neatly in your pocket, and the last batch of iPhones 5c and 5s seem like the last you'll get of that for a while. Even the HTC Mini 2 is 4.5". What's the point of doing a mini offering that is only marginally different ?
If you're out of contract mate then just switch to a sim only deal. Giff Gaff (O2 network) is £10 a month for 500 mins , unlimited texts and 1GB of internet.
Not to start an argument at all but why not consider something other than an iPhone? Surely if you've used one iPad / iPhone, you've used them all? Nothing ever seems to change with an upgrade except for the people who wet themselves for a software update / icon change. I'd go for a Samsung S5. Better device.
I think that's a fair point, and well made other than the "people wet themselves" thing. Some people just like the products a bit. It's a bit patronising to go down the "you're all sheep-like idiots for praying at the church of Jobs and Wozniak!" hich is what gets said a lot around new Apple stuff. Really, it's just a bunch of people trying to figure out which phone is easiest to buy and use. Apart from the freaks who went nuts yesterday for the keynote speech. I'll accept that.

They've always done that. Even the original Macs had HP components in them.

What I really meant from that comment Jimmy was the software upgrades are just a gimmick from Apple to try and generate publicity.
Even the mouse was originally an IBM invention as well. I've had an iphone since the 3GS , then onto the 4 then the 5 and I'll be ordering the 6 on Friday. Just under two years ago I had a Samsung galaxy S3 mini for about a week and absolutely hated it . It felt cheap and slow compared to my iphone 4 which was over a year old at that point.
That put me off getting another android product which is a shame as I''m sure there are some good ones out there. This doesn't mean I'm a fool or a "sheep" for wanting to stick with Apple I just happen to like their products.
Always makes me laugh thinking about the big painted on advertisment which used to be on a wall visible from the trains going between London Bridge and Waterloo East for Apple which had their London head office address on which was once upon a time Court Road opposite the Royal Tavern in Mottingham.

Blimey, thats going back some years. Late 80s, early 90s?
The Apple place was there around mid to late eighties I guess. As far as I remember the advertisment was still there outside London Bridge until the late nineties.
This is my field mate I work for 02 selling tarrifs and phones, ya talking to the dog now.
Basically and generally, the 6 uses more expensive and better material via the body and screen of the phone. So its gana be more expensive to make and will cost more then what the previous iphones were at launch.
I would say dont upgrade to it straight away and atleast wait till christmas for the price to drop. Apple have a history of bug problems in the 1st month of release dates too. Also the iphone 6 plus is going to be better.
Looking at getting a 5c through 02 right now. Is it worth waiting i.e. will there be an imminent price drop now the new iphones have come out? Apple aren'y usually good at that.
Id suggest going for 5s instead, should be around £28pm now with 02 depending on data. The 5c is the cheaper version of the 2 iphone 5 phones.
Reckon by christmas the 5s might drop to £23pm with unlimited mins, texts 1gb.
Apparently the new LG G3 has been getting pretty good reviews. And it has a removable battery pack - so you just get a spare. Like anyone would think it's user friendly or something!

To be fair Buckshee, the S3 mini has always been a budget device. It's performance wasn't great the day it launched.
The Note devices Samsung release are absolutely fantastic. Get one and you'll never look back - All other screens look dull and pixelated in comparison
I use an Archos. Which gives me two distinct advantages. (1) it is a dual-SIM phone, so I can use just one device for my work calls, texts, emails and calendar as well as for my "home" calls, texts, emails and calendar. And (2) no-one's ever heard of Archos, so can't tell me their phone is better than mine...

Far too big for me , alright as a tablet maybe but not as a phone. The iphone 6 is as big as I'm prepared to go. I've had a play around with other supposedly top end android devices and still nothing had impressed me as much as any iphone I've had.

I think it was more mid 80s at the latest at a guess .... fruit and veg shop before that

I'm not doubting you but sim free, from apple, the iPhone 6 16GB is cheaper than the iPhone 5s 16GB was a year ago.
That kind of makes your statement above look, well, wrong.
All depends on what it's being used for I suppose. You still get people that moan and say things like "my old nokia 3210 could last 5 days without a charge" yeah maybe but it made calls and texts and the occasional game of worms.

Haha, yeah, I remember both. I'm on the train now going past where the advert was.

Dave - have O2 stopped doing Blackberrys? Cannot see any online.
Sorry to intrude guys, but I have had my Nokia for years with O2 and the cost has shot up from £12.50 to £45 a month which seems to be taking the piss. All I do is take a few calls, and ring home daily. Should I try pay as you go ?

Can no longer see any blackberrys available on my database. Appears they slowely declinced till we just had the Q5. Will probably return at some point.

Go to Sim only. I only pay about £10 and get unlimited text, data and I think 250 mins per month.
My first ever contract (Orange/EE iPhone 5) is about to run out and the phone just died on me so I am planning on pre-ordering the 6 today. How would I go about keeping my old number? I am thinking of switching over to another network.
Having used i phones for several years, ( the first one was free and £15 a month) I have noticed that the 'jamboree ' of the first to own one of these 'new' models is mainly about PR, and showing the 'punters' queing up for the media, a bit like the new game releases. Personally speaking I do not use 90 percent of the 'apps' and things like the finger recognition to unlock the device. That seems like a gimmick, like so much of the so called new 'upgrades'. I use a phone for texting and phone calls. Being of course in the minority I will stay with the old 4s and pay £ 10 a month for the phone I have. Yes it is old, and as a phone on O2 the coverage could be improved, but I am afraid until the battery life improves a lot, and the price comes down....... I will stay with what I got thank you. Question if you have a 2 year agreement why do Apple only have a 1 year warranty?. ... Seems poor faith in there 'premium product' ...... bit like there computer, ever tried to get a genius appointment same day at an Apple centre?.... thought not.

iPhone 6: 16GB - £539, 64GB - £619, 128GB - £699.
iPhone 6 Plus: 16GB - £619, 64GB - £699, 128GB - £789.

Not a hope in hell of that being true.
