OK so we have lost the spirit in the squad which they last showed in the second half on Boxing Day. It has to go back to Roland who insists on being the only person to make decisions in the Club. I have to question his knowledge of the game, and in particular his understanding of people management which appears to be non existent. The general mood is sadness, I share it.
You just can't buy spirit, guts and passion...which is fortunate because Roland wouldn't invest in it even if you could.
If only we had a Manager who could hand pick his players with the right values and understanding of what this club is all about. One who would put his arm around them make them feel part of the family that is Charlton Athletic.
Invite them to the Valley with their other half for lunch to savour the atmosphere and history of the place and get them to buy into the whole ethos of togetherness from the outset...............Oh hang on a minute we had one of those, wonder what he is doing now. :-0
Our biggest problem on Saturday was the back line pushing too far up the pitch.
Our centre halves aren't the quickest, especially Bikey and it was a suicidal tactic.
Basically, it meant that Watford could either play the ball over the top behind them or pass the ball through them.
Either way it enabled their speedy forwards and midfield to run past us, getting in behind the defence and creating havoc.
It was pretty obvious before the match started, that this would be one of the worst games, to play this tactic and after their 1st goal, this was blindingly obvious.
The biggest concern was that nothing was done to address this and we carried on in the same vein and could have shipped 10.
Now if Luzon couldn't give any instruction, as he was huddled in a blanket in the stand, didn't Matthew have the authority to change the tactic ?
This tactic may well work well at home to Blackpool or Brighton, but not at Watford.
It's akin to drawing Chelsea away in the cup and deciding that all out attack, is the way to go.
Who made the crass decision to play this tactic (Luzon presumably) and why ?
I can only assume, that he'd heard/seen that one of the reasons Peeters was criticised, was for negative/boring tactics, so decided, attack was the way to go.
Didn't anyone explain to him, that Watford could likely tear us apart.
If they did, were they simply ignored ?
I can almost understand why TBH in particular and the team in general caved in.

He didn't have a chance in hell of stopping Watford, playing that tactic, with Bikey alongside him.
Yes, attack more by all means, especially against the weaker sides, but don't go gung ho away to the top teams.
Even though we were not at the level of performance we are more than capable of reaching I still think Watford were really good. Troy Deeny ran the show for them.
Hopefully the new manager plays Cousins in the centre of midfield where he should be playing.
Not on last Satudays performance he shouldn't.
He has his bad games but i just cant see why jackson gets in before him in centre mid although jackson doesnt do anything,everytime Jackson plays we seem to play well,Personally i dont think Jackson should be in our team.
