Every club has an element, I hear the booing of the knee near me in the covered end, and I’ve heard homophobic chants when we’ve played Brighton.
I have a smidgen of sympathy for @MillwallFan point of view, the media will always jump all over it because it is Millwall, if it were Yeovil it would get a mention, but nowhere near the scrutiny Millwall would get, that’s the media, that’s their job as they see it.
So, when I say a smidgen, I mean a smidgen, because their past has given them this reputation and the reactions are based on that.I’ve done and said things at Charlton in the past that I’m not proud of, but I grew up, educated myself and moved on.
Unfortunately, whether Millwall fans like to agree or not, there is a vast majority of their support who will pay lip service to their family club and community efforts, and the work they are trying to do to improve their image, but, also revel in their reputation of the past on the quiet.10 -

Millwall have put out a statement in response to unsavoury scenes during their lunchtime defeat to Crystal Palace.
A section of the home crowd discernibly booed Palace players taking the knee in support of the Black Lives Matter movement before kick-off.
There were also audible homophobic chants directed at Palace's on-loan Chelsea attacker Conor Gallagher, while a bottle thrown from the stands struck Olise as he prepared to take a corner.
“Millwall Football Club has a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of discrimination and will investigate any incident of alleged abuse accordingly," the club said.
"As is club policy, any individual found guilty of discriminatory abuse is issued with an immediate lifetime ban."
Yeah, sure he is.
- Or she!
Individuals seem never to be identified and banned for a few months, let alone the lifetime bans they so boldly indicate.
It was ever thus,If they want to come down on us for ‘homophobic chanting’ (calling Gallagher a Chelsea rentboy) and plastic cups and bottles being thrown on the pitch then they will have to come down on every club who’s fans do it, and that could run in to dozens.I doubt Palace will make a big fuss about the despicable homophobic chants at The Den today. They’ve got Brighton next week. There will probably be a lot worse from their own fans there. How would you feel if it was your club?Chelsea and spurs game in the week is full of racist (yids) and homophobic chants (Chelsea rent boy) and nothing gets mentioned. Bottles get thrown there (and at scores of other clubs) and nothing gets mentioned. We do it and it’s all over sky.Palace fans throw a flare on to the pitch. It nearly hits the keeper and holds up play for a few minutes and burns a hole in the pitch. Nothing gets mentioned. Millwall fan throw a plastic bottle and it’s getting mentioned by stelling on super Saturday or whatever it’s called. Some clown earlier in the thread said they turn a blind eye to Millwall, when actually the polar opposite is true.I’m not saying the authorities shouldn’t come down on us for those incidents. But if they come down on us, then they have to come down on other clubs fans when they behave in exactly the same way (or worse sometimes). Surely even a simpleton can see that would be the only fair way of dealing it??? 🤷
how can you have one rule for one club and punish them and then not punish other clubs (usually the more successful ones) for the same thing??
don’t they ? You’ll never learn … no one like us, we really DO care A LOT !!1 -
Millwall are classic school bullies - strutting around, intimidating people, singing ‘we fear no foe’, ‘no one likes us’ etc etc. But when they get called out on it, they try and blame everyone else6

You seem like a typical keyboard warrior. Emerge from the shadows to talk a little bit of shit and then retreat when your faux anger has simmered down and your split personality disorder has subsided.
What's your excuse for being a bellend? Someone elses fault or entirely of your own making?3 -
'Chelsea rent boys' has been sung at Chelsea fans for years, not saying it makes it right but homophobic chanting is a little stretch imo?5

'Rent-boy' LITERALLY means 'male prostitute'.Homophobic - an aversion or hostility to, disdain for, or fear of gay sexual orientation or gay people.
Rent boy is a term that refers to young prostitutes that have sex with men for money. The chant makes fun of Chelsea for that.
The chant is the definition of homophobic.1 - Sponsored links:

You don't like being wrong and you also have this weird narcissisism that kicks in when it comes to your own opinion and when it's challenged.
So, again, you're wrong.

I love the fact that if you want a Sunday morning debate about the correct terminology for a male brass then Charlton Life is the go to place.
Join us next week for discussion as to whether seminal masterpiece Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigalo accurately portrayed working men's careers in turn of the century USA on the Charlton Life Sunday brunch debate.

If you don't think the term 'rent-boy' has a huge amount of anti-gay connotations then I don't know what to tell you.
It's textbook homophobic abuse.0 -

With Millwall in general, I am always put in mind of that famous Aesops fable of "The boy who cried wolf".
There is no doubting that there is a level of "knobishness" in all football clubs support and indeed society in general. However, If Millwalls support hadn't promoted, justified and revelled in an image of football factory working class yobbishness over many years, maybe they would not be the first to be called out. The proverb, "you reap what you sow", is also relevant.
No sympathy at all with them.5 -

Millwall pay the price for their past of course but there is no question (in my mind) that for some reason they do get disproportionate amount of negative media and joe blogs scrutiny -just like England internationally.
There are many, many clubs who have been just as bad as Millwall historically and now and importantly, on a much more regular basis.
Throughout the 90’s / early 00’s I think it’s fairly recognised that both Spurs and Man Utd were as active as any club in the hooliganism and general anti-social behaviour stakes and on a really regular basis. But for some reason, as big Prem clubs it never got a mention. You could add another 10-15 clubs as well who misbehaved as or more regularly than Millwall in those years - Leeds, Pompey, Cardiff, Stoke, Birmingham, Chelsea, Villa, Boro, Bristol City, both scousers etc etc.
Milwall, being a relatively small club, don’t actually have the numbers to cause havoc on a regular basis, so they pick there few games a season (not dissimilar to us) and we know what follows. Their biggest problem though is that it happens inside the ground as well as outside far too often and that also generates more focus and also shows they’re more stupid IMO.
But there is no doubt that things that happen elsewhere on a regular basis get hardly any airtime compared to an incident by Millwall and I think Chelsea also suffer similar. I.e. Spurs are/have been just as bad but get nowhere near the the same attention by the media or joe blogs.

I hope all those who wanted Palace to win yesterday don't have reason to regret their choice come next May. With all the "big" clubs not taking the FA Cup that seriously, they could easily sneak through again to the final with draws like this.1 -
Yeah, if you look at the the winners from last 10 years you can see the big clubs don’t take the competition seriously1

The Adams Family chant suggesting fans are committing incest and pedophilia is humour which by current standards should offend everyone who has a family.
