Food and drink shambles

There was always going to be less than a normal match day. Last home game of the season, left over stock is a waste and there will be nothing going on for 3 months.

Had disaster written all over it from the start. You should've been given £15 off of your ST for next season.

    Or a free cup ticket

Thought all the food outlets were open and available @Robbo on the wing, and we could spend our vouchers wherever we wanted, not just in one bit of under staffed pie-selling pulled pork corner of west stand. Cynical move by the club - was nothing to do with affording or not affording. Was about club promising and not delivering, because they don't put a and b together, they just make it up as they go along.
Hope that's not true @cafcnutter that they had no intention to begin with - think they had some but they just fucked up as always. Left hand doesn't talk to right hand and vice versa and nobody seems to know what's going on these days and it's not all RD & KM fault. Jimenez and company left behind a bit of a mess in franchising everything out.

14 chips in the East!!!! £3
  • Needed a pie to soak up beer. Sold out of hot food.

Now ten hours later, very drunk, and wife not buying that it was the Club's fault.

Tell her it's all Tav's chips' fault.
  • 14 chips !!
  • 14 chips !!

I've had more chips on the 5th at lullingdtone.

  • Fourteen (count 'em) chips for three quid is right up there with Wimbledon strawberries.

Cheaper for the Belgians to bring over a frituur van through the pipe for the day, and top quality too.

We arrived early -coming from Essex you always have to factor in potential traffic problems and there weren't any. That meant that the voucher queue wasn't too bad but was clearly going to become so later. Why the name check farce when you had a piece of paper with your name plus vouchers quantities on already?
At the West Stand Upper kiosks there was pulled pork and sausages BUT no bread to put them in! It hadn't arrived yet. Inevitably this meant that everyone went for the pie option and they ran out. The next batch arrived but needed 20 minutes to get up to temperature.
Met a fellow seat refugee who is a vegetarian his only available option was a bag of crisps!
Finally the bread arrived but while there were plenty of staff in the kiosks few of them seemed to actually do anything so getting a pulled pork sandwich wasn't easy. And there was so little of it too. A shambles but an inevitable one I'm afraid. Clearly difficult to judge what to order in as they didn't want left over stock going past its sell-by in the summer. With hindsight, an alternative offer like a cup ticket or season ticket discount would have been more sensible.

Tavern clearly has chips on his shoulders

I never buy food at The Valley or any other Club we visit for away games but regardless of what's /not on offer on a regular basis, today sounds an absolute disgrace.

May I respectfully suggest that all those Lifers affected today message me with as much detail as possible about this afternoon's fiasco ie if you moved seats to allow more Bournemouth fans to see the game and were offered vouchers for food/drink. A copy of the information given to you to "explain" said offer would be very useful too.

We have a Fans' Forum meeting diarised for 8th July so unless you are prepared to email Katrien direct ( which I believe would mean that this issue does not die a death for lack of immediate attention) I'd be happy to put this on the agenda as long as I have the full facts and some personal experiences clearly in front of me. And I am prepared to request that a senior member of the Delaware Catering staff be present to field said questions.

I'm afraid that there are too many instances of poor customer service of late- there I've said it. Nearly everyone I speak with has a story to tell regarding season ticket renewal, programme sellers, the quality of food & drink amongst others. This is not a witch hunt, before anyone thinks I have an axe to grind but I'm not immune to experiencing problems myself. And it's becoming unacceptable.

It's time that the regular supporter was listened to and received some satisfactory answers. What's happening at the moment behind the scenes of our Club is not acceptable. Didn't someone once say that the customer is always right ?

Let me know what you think.

Hi please can we have more than 14 chips for £3?
Hi, can we have more programme sellers and for them to be stationed at the same post every home game.

Also to begin selling earlier than 80 minutes before kick-off.
  • I was speaking with a Bournemouth fan on Friday who was telling me that they'd agreed to pay for all of the additional costs arising from from relocating Charlton fans from those blocks. So if 500 of us were inconvenienced that's £7500 coming our way. I wonder how much profit Charlton making out of this?

We were told by our CEO that’s she wanted as many Bournemouth fans as possible to enjoy their day.

I said that it was all about making money for Charlton but got shouted down by many on here saying that Bournemouth had done that for us and shouldn’t be churlish as they were a friendly club.

There were also questions about why the food vouchers were not sent with the match ticket, I suggested it was because they wanted people to be discouraged from collecting them by a long slow moving queue.

I don’t eat or drink at the ground but judging by the comments on the catering thread it seems that the products and service are not particularly good.

So it now seems that Bournemouth paid for these vouchers but the displaced fans either had trouble collecting them or once they had collected them found that there was nothing to spend them on.

It seems that the gesture by the club was a hollow gesture and all about getting extra income.

I sent my ticket and vouchers back and spent the afternoon in Kent. Very nice lunch at the Stanhope Arms in Brasted, steak sandwich with chips (more than 14) and salad, £7.90 and a nice cool pint of Estrella. Better value than the West Stand offering?

How many fans feel cheated over the selling of home tickets and the bribe offered but not fulfilled by the club?

The moving of us(and me) was sensible.

As you were not there you would not have seen that there was probably 500 Bournemouth scattered around the ground. So you are talking up to 2000 extra supporters, just imagine the chaos and possible crowd trouble with this amount in home areas.

But from previous posts you will never agree by understanding why they did it.

But the voucher scheme was a shambles and as an apology the club should give the people relocated a free ticket for a cup game next season.

Ok I agree with your views on both the tickets and the vouchers, I've had my say and so has everyone else, so end of.

    Fair do's.

Have a nice summer, here's to a more fruitful season next year.
  • You to and keep telling us about the cheap train tickets, who knows I might venture away again next season.

Estrella is quite nice by the way.

  • Went to the George and Dragon at Chipstead after and had a nice pint of Meantime London Lager. I'd drink at the ground if they had that rather than Fosters it's only brewed down the road.

If you think the fosters is overpriced imagine what you'd end up paying for a pint of that at the match!
  • West Stand: Given the extra support today, one would have thought that the tea / coffee trolleys would have used to ease the situation. No chance. Huge queues at the kiosks at Noon and little chance to get a drink. Thanks, CAFC. I offer you my end-of-season 'Consistency in Incompetence' Award.
  • Let's face it Charlton couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery at the moment, the club is run by people who are not up to the job end of.

The whole place needs a clear out starting with KM.

Everything is being done on the cheap.

Puts the improving the customer experience statements into some kind of perspective.
  • And yet we're fed yet another slogan, this time regarding the new team shirts. "We are Red"...blah, blah. How many slogans do we have now?
CAFC is fast becoming a McClub. We must resist and reclaim.
  • While I agree that the food options in the ground are largely pitiful, and the vouchet thing terrible, its not hard to avoid the food issue. There's a couple of decent hotdog stands outside and you can take plenty of stuff in with you. The easiest way to avoid this frustration is to not get involved.
  • Well it's a relief to know that the Fan's Forum is on the case.
