Is this really worth a new thread ?
Which existing thread would the hypothetical possibility of Burnley possibly getting a Europa Cup spot in odd circumstances which will almost certainly have no impact at all on Charlton (and will probably/certainly never happen anyway) fit into ?
You have a point there @se9addick

What do you think - is it Affect or effect ?

more likely to happen than not
England have been given an extra spot
Liverpool will finish in the top 7
so Burnley who will be in the championship next season have as much of a chance as West Ham and Everton

The effect of the additional spot on the Europa might affect us.

more likely than before this was announced
and they have as much chance as the other 2

My point is you say it will probably/certainly never happen
well a 1/3 chance is not that uncommon you are making it sound like a 1 in a million chance

if someone said you have a 1 in 3 chance of winning the lottery I would love them odds

But if you had a 1 in 3 chance of anything lottery/Europa/Katy Perry it would still be more unlikely to happen than it would be to happen - that's objectively and statistically true.

Again, Ladbrokes are not your friend.

I'm not trying to intentionally break your heart when I say this, but I didn't actually read the article - I knew it would be some fair play nonsense that UEFA dole out every year - you've just caught me in your wicked web of poor grammar and terrible comprehension of odds. • lol hurry up August
  • I need to throw a hand grenade into this debate.

    The odds are not 3-1.

It's one in three if the teams are tossing a coin. But as they are able to choose whether or not to avoid yellow cards, the odds are not that simple.

Burnley are fighting for their lives. Everton and West Ham are not. It's feasible that, with one game to go, those two could choose not to make a tackle to guarantee qualification. It happened a few years ago I believe, when the team in question got smashed because they wouldn't put a foot in. Might've been when Boro smashed Man City.

Either way, the odds of it being Burnley are certainly longer than the other two.
  • There's also a chance that we could be scheduled to play Burnley midweek but they're playing Europa League on the Thursday so our game would have to be rescheduled, possibly to the following week, maybe even too much later on the season. I for one am quite worried about this possibility and have already written to UEFA and the Football League to express my concern.

The sooner this issued is resolved the better. Will be sleepless nights for me over the coming months.

    Surely not Burnley are relegated,
    West ham have Kevin Nolan
    Everton have Gareth Barry
  • If Burnley win at Hull today they are far from relegated
  • London Euston to Burnley Central on a Sunday with one change......
