Good little cameo so far this morning from Wood and Moeen. They look better batsmen than half the top order. Let's be optimistic, if they can both get centuries England will only be 150 behind.

    I'll get my coat........

And it's the guess the Lyth score time again. Less than ten I'd say.

So tomorrow, as I have a ticket

    a) Will I see a pulsating day of high quality Test Cricket
    b) Will I see the last 2 England wickets fall, followed by an embarrassing champagne celebration as England receive the Ashes, or
    c) Will I get a full refund and a lie in?

As much as I do not rate Lyth, he's not the only one who should be feeling the heat. Jos Buttler has looked woeful with the bat recently. Yes he can score quickly and there is no doubting his one day batting ability but he has been found wanting time and time again in this series.

My money would be on a nice lie in mate.

I bet Lyth scores a century that keeps him in the team for another 5 tests where his average will be 12.

doubt it, bloke looks like he has 0 mental strength. Always looking like a fish out of water. At least buttler looks like he believes in himself when he's out there.

Bye Lyth. Have a good county career mate. You won't be troubling the test selectors again.

If Buttler was dropped, they'd make Bairstow the keeper and look at bringing in someone like James Taylor.

As much as I'd love to see a Kent player in the test side.

I still think they'll stick with buttler for a while longer.

I hear that Hales got 180 odd. Give him a go he can't do much worse.

Billings!??! Ludicrous Kent bias. Check the bloke's FC batting average. There must be about 4 or 5 in the queue ahead of him.

    I'm a Surrey fan.

    Like who?
Bairstow (short ball problem or not, he batted really well in the previous game)
Brown (my tip for a surprise call-up)
Davies (Lancashire version. Surrey one has renounced keeping, could still play Tests as a batsman)
    Roderick
In an emergency, Foster or Read wouldn't let anyone down. Read's had a spurt of form this season

All showing significantly better FC form than Billings, and all can keep too

This is pretty much what they'd do.

    Roderick -never heard of.
    Brown - never heard of.
Davies (lancs version) - they aint gonna prmote Lancs no 2 over Lancs No 1 , are they?
Foster and Read - you're aving a larf - lets bring back Colin Cowdrey shall we?

To suggest there is 4/5 better than Billings out of that lot is fanciful at the least. Bairstow is prob the only one - as long as he bats at 7.

Not ashes related but I've heard from a number of places that Zafar Ansari is pretty much certain to be taken to the UAE as third spinner...
