So is the deal four years starting now , or four years starting next summer when his initial contract runs out?0

Shows the club do have some ambition.3

Great news. I hope that this means that we can now prepare for some quality additions to the squad!1

Well, there was reported interest from Wolves, wasn't there? Where would you rather be, London or Wolverhampton?Rizzo said:0 -

JK, So pleased for both club and player.0 -
Slightly surprised, very pleased.
A real statement of intent.4 -
New article. He signed because of Charlton's ambition.

Raise your half full glasses please. We are now starting to look at least like contenders this season, and for goodness sake lets all acknowledge Roland and all his team for their ambitious and positive efforts on our behalf. If you cannot now feel that shiver of excitement about what is happening, get yourself to hospital quick. At 78 I need to calm down or I might be joining you.8

This is definitely a statement of intent0

Free kicks here we come!1

I am seriously concerned...
Seth Plum hasn't been on this thread, wearing his "cynical hat"...
Does this mean even HE can not find something negative about this piece of news?
Surely not!6 -
Just you wait until Viewfinder starts calling out JBG's MumEast_Stand_Loopy said:I am seriously concerned...

This is great news - but it doesn't strengthen us, simply because we had him last season. What is more promising is what he is saying about the ambition of the club.4

Maybe strengthens us in terms of negotiating deals with potential new signings? Probably more likely to sign with someone like Johann on the booksMuttleyCAFC said:This is great news - but it doesn't strengthen us, simply because we had him last season. I was convinced that he would be off. I thought he was playing with us with his wait and see approach.
I suspect I owe him an apology as I thought he was just teeing up a good deal elsewhere.
This is great news on so many different levels.0 -
Legend! Now he needs a song sorted once and for all.0
-
Interesting that the contract discussions had been going on for some time0

with Yoni gone gotta be a good chance he'll be the regular penalty taker this season4

There's that shit attitude of Harriott's rearing its ugly head againcafc-west said:Some nice tweets from other players congratulating him. Including Callum Harriott:

EDIT - @ValleyGary presses F5 better than me and beat me to it, I'll get my coat4 -
Good news!0

I'm certainly a lot more optimistic than I was a few weeks back. JBG said at the end of last season that he'd wait to see who we signed before committing to a new contract. He's now signed a new, long term contract so must be impressed with who we've bought in/bringing in in the coming days. Can only be a good sign1

Great to see such an outstanding player committing his future to Charlton.Excellent news for the club and fans alike.0

Best news of the summer so far.
Mentally I'd kind of resigned myself to losing him, so this feels like a new signing of real quality2
