I think he was superb against Hull considering the two quality CB's he was up against. People forget he is only 17, he is going to be very good just needs more confidence to score for the first team like he has done for the u21's for so long.
This
Up until yesterday I was fairly ambivalent towards him but he impressed me. A couple of goals and he'll kick on. We need him on a long term contract asafp
Should start tues, it's the sort of games the development squad players should be given a crack at the whip.
At least he is one of our own. That's why I joined valley gold to see players like him coming through the ranks. That's why I like the championship because at least our own players get a chance to progress.
Looks a bit like Kim grant, but with a lot more va va voom across his boat race.
His "finish" on the stroke of HT was very Grant-esque
Pithy comments aside, looks the real deal and has a great on-pitch personality. He is confident, doesn't give an inch and clearly fancies himself like any decent striker should.
Breaking his game down, he is pretty much an 8/10 for all attributes, with a perfect 10 for physicality. Gosh he is some physical specimen, knock out most middle weight boxers id imagine.
Really see him making the grade as he doesn't have an obvious weakness in his game. If he kicks on he can be a Berahino/Defoe type of player, lots of chances due to his movement and clinical finishing. Give me KAG over Kane, Austin, Ings any day of the week, they have limitations, Karl has it all in his locker
You would not fancy trying to win the physical against these Addicks at the moment.
You'd rather have KAG over Austin, Ings or Kane? Now, I'll never go out of my way to slag off our players, but that is frankly a ridiculous statement. As is the "8/10 for all attributes" quote. Too much FIFA.
Too much FIFA!!!!
Actually a dissection based solely on his live performances including two for the yuuff.
What I was trying to say is that the potential is there for all to see. It's hard to pick out a weakness, attributes such as composure and finishing will surely improve. Attributes such as pace and fitness are mainly decided (give or take 10-20%) at a much younger level
I'm looking at the kind of players this Country produces compared with ROW. KAG has the technique of a good European footballer.
Charlie Austin was playing parks football at 21 and non league until 23ish, won a competition to get a place at Swindon. Not in KAGs league if you compare them at 18.
Harry kane will struggle at the highest level of football, yes he has scored goals in PL but I was comparing him to KAG to show the difference in potential. KAG could be Englands number 10 in 5 years, upfront with Berahino. Please do not tell me harry kane will ever be an international level striker.
Danny Ings at 18? Gimme KAG any day
It is no surprise to me that the best youth will come from outside the sky 4 given the set up at the moment. Championship clubs offer a route for homegrown players, Chelsea citeh and United have a different outlook, more focused on making sure no player escapes their radar but with a dismal record of producing their own.
I've no shame in bigging up our youth. We have the best production line in the country at the moment

Firstly, the suggestion that "it's hard to pick out a weakness" is laughable. Next time you watch him play, count how many times you see him use his left foot. There is no problem whatsoever with a lad who is not yet 18 having weaknesses - of course he has weaknesses - he is only a teenager finding his way in the professional game. Personally I think there are several factions of his game that could do with improving (given time, they will), and that is absolutely normal. To claim otherwise is foolish, surely?
Charlie Austin was not playing non-league at 23. At 20 he was playing week in week out for Swindon and scored 19 league goals in his debut season at a ratio of far better than a goal every two games. He has since maintained that ratio everywhere he's been - even in the Premier League. Extremely bold/misguided to insinuate that KAG will be doing the same in two or three years if you're basing your original claims purely on "potential".
Kane may well not go on to make it at the highest level of football but if we're to use direct comparisons: Kane had scored 8 in 17 across the England U17 and U19 youth levels. KAG by contrast has played 7 times at similar age groups and is yet to score. I'm certainly not saying that stats are the be all and end all - I just don't get the basis for your argument.
I've no shame in bigging up our youth either, but I also won't make frankly outlandish claims about a player who has only featured in a handful of Championship games with (as yet) zero goals to his name. Maybe that seems unnecessarily harsh - it's really not meant to be - but you can't argue that at the very least, it's reasoned.
I wasn't convinced before the Hull game, but now, I am a fan of KAGs, I took some time to watch his runs as well, intelligent player, I cant remember him being caught offside at all. We have a great prospect here, if he can stop his head going wibble when he shoots then we have a potentially fantastic player...oh yes he's 18.

Good points, well made. I'm still having KAG though
(correct on Austin - niw checked it - as a shady get-out I did say 23ish)
Matured considerably last season and is becoming more of a team player. Best striker we have produced since Walsh.
To be fair, our track record for producing strikers is pretty poor really, when you look at the number of decent midfielders and defenders we produce. Lisbie was the last striker to come through the ranks at a decent level, which says it all!
I have never doubted his potential, but this was only based on the confidence shown to him by those at the club who have oven him first team action at such a young age.
He is very young and there is no way to know his true potential. However he looked good on Saturday and now have more confidence in his abilities than I did have.
In response to comparing him to full England Internationals when he has only played a few first team games is ridiculous. Clearly is is not likely to be a double Ballon'd'Or winner but then we are not likely to be paying strikers £100k a week anytime soon.
I am fed up with the demand (from all clubs) to just sign the complete full article. If we all do that youth players would never, ever, come through. Some kids make it, some don't but I'd be surprised if anyone can list five players, from any one club, in the last decade, that have come through the youth side and looked the real deal on their debut and still been in the club's first team two years later.
All players need to be given games where their contribution is less than that of a free transfer in his early 30s on decent money. They need to be given that time (preferably, without the fans getting on their back) to become a much better player than we can afford to but with most of their career in front of them.
In recent years Jordan Cousins, Chris Solly, Joe Gomez (who, admittedly did look very good from the very start - which is why he has started every game for the team, currently, third in the PL at 18), Morgan Fox, Poyet, Jenkenson, Wagstaff, Shelvey and probably a couple of others I've missed have all been allowed to develop while we have had older players 'cover for them' while they find their feet.
KAG has some real potential and I'm more than happy to see him wildly miss the target in few games until he settles in.
He's going to be good enough I think but expecting him to be consistent week in week out in a tough league like this one is a tall order. He needs to be managed carefully not forced to play because he's all we have. We need Mak back and another first choice in Pdq.
Who do you think was the person in the 1st half who kept running into space behind their defense. plus in the second had a shot blocked. I know the sun was in your eyes ?
Forgot most of you watched it from home. So you would missed the running he did off the ball as well. as he was 18 last month the kid is doing great.
I disagree. Good touch and at least tried to move off the ball, unlike Watt (for all bar the last 10) . Good talent for an 18 year old ; we've got serious problems if we start slating kids too
I thought KAG put in a church performance for 60 then 20 as an attacking striker that just couldn't finish and 17 as a decent strike partner who didn't play selfish.

I all agree, Kaggy is better than Austin

Used his pace well and caused Fulham problems.
Still a lot of room for improvement bit think some of the comments above are very harsh.
