He put in so much more effort than Tony Watt did. Our fans are ridiculous. His off the ball movement was superb and that cross at the end... To cross it first time was superb. He's playing well but unfortunately I can see him being treated the same as Harriott by our impatient fans.
From their comments, it seems many fans just follow the ball during the game.
Maybe they missed seeing KAG cross the ball for the equalizer and all they remember is KAG not getting to Watt's driven cross across the face of the goal.
They'll judge him on that.
He'd have to grow an extra foot to have reached that cleanly. Was a good cross finding the space but just unfortunately too far in front. Put a few more in like that and he will get on the end of them eventually. Looks up for it. I'd give him some more game definitely. Will only learn by playing. That shot on the turn was instinctive and I liked that. Ok it didn't come off but he went for it which is positive.

First time I've seen him as haven't been to games this season with work and family commitments. I was really impressed. He's still raw and probably should be eased in rather than playing 90mins. I suspect he'll have a noticeable slump and should be rested some time soon. But definitely a player in there. Great cross for the goal and I liked his movement.
Timing is awful. This reminds me of last season - we've missed all our targets and not given KR a budget so we need to make it sound like the u23 players are senior players and we have actual depth.
Really stinks of: "we've given up all hope of signing a number ten, better make it sound like this was our plan all along."
If Karlan wasn't good enough for the first team last year, I don't think we should be relying on him this year.
I've said it before in this thread, but when he was 16/17 he looked like a real diamond in the rough. Had his confidence completely battered out of him though, hope he can get back to the level he was at.
I have to say that I am always impressed with his work rate and desire. His finishing however is shockingly bad - With a bit of confidence, this could change.
Big year for him i feel and hopefully he can get 20 minutes off the bench and start impressing.
He's done well in pre season and has certainly bulked up, if he can find his shooting boots we might well have a player there.
If we have a player there he'll force his way into the squad, good young players always do (unless your Pardew when he was here with a huge senior squad).
For me the fact that he only might do well says he shouldn't be part of the the main 22 or so players.
Konsa and Aribo are part of the main squad as we know they can play at this level.

I'm still not totally sold on the 'Happy world' view of Aribo. I'm willing to let him do his all to own his position this season though. You know cos my opinion really matters to him
I know what you mean about Aribo, I'm not convinced there's a future Prem player there. I think he's done enough to be part of the squad though, even if I wouldn't start him.
Looks as though it's all going to be about the much sought after "end product". He's filled out but maintained the explosive turn of pace that terrorises defenders but where's his best position? Been playing and learning sitting a little deeper for the u23s and has the natural pace for a winger or out and out striker but has never really struck me as a natural finisher. Interesting that he's mentioned being a bit more greedy.
Not expecting him to come in and get 15 but hopefully he can do some damage from the bench, possibly cutting in like Henry did in his early days under Wenger.
Never rated him tbh, he is skillful but dont think he has any end product. Don't think he is good enough for Charlton, not sure what position he would suit most maybe RAM.
Would like to be proved wrong, but wouldn't mind if he was shipped out on loan to L2 and then released/sold
Completely unrelated to his potential or ability, but he passed me the other morning driving a very nice Mercedes. Life of a young footballer
Not long after he broke into the first team he ploughed his nice new Merc into the back of my Wife's hairdressers car on the A2. Thankfully nobody hurt but apparently he was not keen to go through the insurance as he had only just started driving. Also mentioned he was a footballer for Charlton!
As you said above, nothing to do with his ability!

1 goal in 9 games for £15M price tag is not great. Big miss tonight v Man City too... Bbc describes as:
"A return of one goal from nine games before this one is not good enough - and he will not have many better chances than the one he had after seven minutes - straight in front of goal, 10 yards out, with only Ederson to beat.
Grant's shot lacked conviction, was not close enough to the corner and allowed the keeper to save."
And West Brom Forum quote:
"When Dowling and Bilic talked about our signings, it was said we needed to "box clever". If Grant and Diangana are examples of boxing clever, I'd dread to think what being careless would have looked like."

So Karlan Ahearn Grant has a prang and feels the need to say that he is a professional footballer, why?

Either general chit chat, he could have been in training gear which could have lead to “my husbands supports Charlton”

Best of luck to him, I hope he's a world beater.

He always seem to play too deep for my liking. Another player whose in the last chance saloon.
