One nil home win tonight against Girona for 'the team that Karel built' (nonsense). This has put Alcorcon second, in the automatic promotion places, overnight although some of their rivals are playing tomorrow.

Why do you say that this is nonsense ?

Olly interviewed Fraeye at length and he told Olly that he speaks fluent Spanish and was responsible for the recruitment of the Alcorcon players.

Do you have specific evidence that contradicts this, such as articles, interviews ?

I am trying to ascertain if Fraeye was telling the truth or not. I'm not questioning your good self as such.
  • Roly - make them the top of the pyramid and send out the dream team of KF and KM - that should sort them out.
  • No inside knowledge - it just sounds not very believable to me. Surely their own manager is responsible for recruitment.
  • anyone know what their wage budget is?

    ALCORCÓN

Ignacio Legido: "Being president more of a challenge is an honor"

Monday Legido Ignacio was named the new president of Alcorcón, although Roland Duchatelet will remain the owner and oversee everything from Belgium.

Last Monday was proclaimed president Alcorcón Duchatelet replaces Roland, the owner still, why has taken this decision?

"Everything arose after the last Council meeting, attended by Roland Duchatelet. In it he proposed us to assume the presidency, since because of their professional commitments it was very difficult hold office and perform on a day to day the team throughout the season."

How you facing this new challenge?

"More than a challenge is an honor, while Roland trust us as the ability to represent the fans, the club and the city for all areas of Spain. Of course, the role of Roland in the state will remain the same so far, that is, you own the club and will continue to monitor all giving their opinion, especially in the sports part with his team in Belgium."

He has already served two years since the arrival of Duchatelet Alcorcón, are you satisfied with what has been done so far?

"Roland -Professional project is ambitious, but no rush. We want to grow not skip steps and natural phase in the evolution of a company. We are changing the sports project, professionalizing corporate areas and, in a second phase, we will improve the facilities and resources. Hopefully a future with institutional tranquility, economic solvency, greater weight in professional football and hopefully be competing for major dimensions, but this work, luck and time will tell."

    And in sports?

"Discussed at the time-and that last season was the year zero of the project. This is the first season of the new club. In this short period of time has been more than 30 players, up to the squad we have, possibly combines as much individual talent player in the history of the club. Now play that season to season, it strengthens."

-In The time it takes, what did you like best?

"As You go to work and know, everything around you will trapping you. It's a big family where everyone is known. Everything is very intense and close and clearly, in my view, this is difficult to see in the current professional football. And it is that as Enrique Perez (CEO) said, "something has the club that players do not want to leave. "
  • Looked like a great 3-3 game today at home to Cordoba. Wish I had actually gone today: game was at same time as the fourth division team I have a season ticket for (Puerta Bonita) but that was a boring 0-0.

Alcorcon still around the playoff places and with quite a lot of matches left they have a good chance. Alaves look like winning the league but the second automatic promotion place keeps changing hands and it's an entertaining league.
  • In fairness, Rolys network plan, seems to have been quite successful on the continent, it's just gone massively wrong here. I get the impression that Roly thought the Belgian and Spanish second Division would be of the same quality as the championship, where it quite clearly isn't. Roly should sell up and go buy Lens or some other team in a mediocre league, where his model and network of clubs would be well suited.
  • Matched our result yesterday with a 0-0 away to Ponferradina. Exciting times all round for network watchers.

Down to ninth and play offs looking unlikely. Local rivals Leganes up in third and pushing for automatic promotion. RD picked the wrong Madrid team.

  • Still hovering around playoffs in ninth place but a win today away to Huesca will keep them in the hunt. Trying to persuade my wife to come with me to next week's home game against Oviedo. Watch this space...

You certainly now how to treat a lady (:
  • Currently en route to tonight's home game against Oviedo and will hopefully have a good chat with some of the fans to see how they feel about our shared owner. Will report back later!

Am sat with the Oviedo fans: it's about 80% away supporters! Dozens of coach loads of Oviedo fans here. They are one of the biggest clubs in the second division with a great fanbase.

The Santo Domingo stadium is lovely - small but very tidy. It's a really nice setup here with special promotions for Spanish fathers day with lots of activities for children outside. Clearly a very family orientated club.
  • Well, didn't have a chance to speak to any Alcorcon fans as was with the Oviedo supporters who in the end made up at least half the crowd. It was a fantastic match, with Alcorcon winning one nil over one of their playoff rivals to stay in the promotion picture.

Really enjoyed it there and will definitely go again. The club does look like it has a lot of potential. The city on the edge of Madrid is growing and the club itself seems to be in a kind of municipal sporting area, with various pitches and an athletic track as well as the tidy Santo Domingo stadium.

What is very notable though is the friendly sense of it being a community club, albeit a small one. As said before, they have kept a clear identity under RD, unlike us, and have maintained their local infrastructure from the mainly Spanish players to the local business people on the board. RD seems to be more of a distant benevolent benefactor to them rather than the bizarre figure haunting our club.

Well, at least they'll have the happy memories - because Dohland will get very interested if they get promoted....

More importantly, did you persuade the wife to go?
  • No - she went to watch the new Kate Winslet film with her friends so I got an evening pass!
  • Well done for dodging the Kate Winslet film.
  • Awful four nil away loss today to Llagostera, who are one off the bottom and really the only team with a smaller budget and fanbase than Alcorcon. Such inconsistency is likely to cost them a playoff place as they are back down to ninth now. Very tight league though so a couple of wins could change it all again.

Back on track today with a home win to go fifth. It's a very tight league and they are only six points off top place. I will hopefully get back to the Santo Domingo at least once more this season.
  • Big win today at home to Madrid rivals top of the table Leganes to stay in the playoffs. Promotion to the Primera Liga still a possibility. How has RD got it so right at Alcorcon and so wrong with us?
  • More luck than judgement ?
  • How they doing now CM?
  • 2-0 victory against their top-of-the-table rivals Leganes, according to this article - http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/videos/236872/four-year-old-alcorcon-fan-paula-leads-ultras-chants-with-her-mighty-yellow-megaphone-video.html

Despite this they appear to have dropped down to 10th place though. It looks to be an incredibly tight league, and despite being in 10th place they're still only one point off of the play-offs with 4 games left. Shockingly there's only 10 points between 1st place and 12th.

  • It is certainly a very tight league: if they had won at the weekend they would have gone third but a defeat against Zaragoza saw them drop to tenth. Quite a few games left so anything could happen!

And they took the lead !
  • Dmitrovic still one of the first names on the team sheet?

Leave my team out of it!
