Penultimate game of the season tonight with fifth placed Alcorcon away to Girona who are just outside the playoff places themselves. A win tonight could secure a place in the playoffs for La Liga.
Alaves can win the league and automatic promotion tonight, with one of either Alcorcon's South Madrid rivals Leganes or Gimnastic Tarragona taking the other automatic promotion place.
Promotion to La Liga is worth loads of money, so Alcorcon getting it could have some positive consequences for us. However, the whole network thing has been a load of crap really. We could have at least loaned some youngsters out to Alcorcon or got some of theirs in.
I notice that Alcorcon lost 2-0, which leaves one game next week at home to Elche - which means (i think, maybe CM con confirm) that they need to win and both Girona and Osasuna (who are both away) to lose and draw respectivley for them to get into the playoffs.
So, the four one home win against Elche last night was not enough as both Girona and Osasuna got the results they needed to stay above Alcorcon, who finish seventh (on the same points though as the team above them).
Disappointing end to the season for the men in yellow, made worse with their local deadly rivals Leganes securing promotion to La Liga for the first time (joining the champions Alaves).
With both Getafe and Rayo Vallecano being relegated, Leganes now make it three Madrid teams in La Liga next year.
In the playoffs are Gimnastic Tarragona, Cordoba, Girona and Osasuna.

Getafe not much - about 5000 but Rayo more like 9 to 10,000. Rayo is fantastic, one of the best atmospheres at grounds I have been to. One of my mates goes all the time and I have been a bit. The fans are incredible and get behind lots of social causes. A link with Rayo would have been brilliant.
