I think that he's saying technically because the stewards have tended to be lenient in the past with first lap incidents like that.
But it wasn't a "first lap incident" in the sense that it was a chaotic start and there was nowhere for drivers to go (like at Silverstone last week) and the stewards said as much in the debrief.
The stewards “determined that car 63 [Russell] was wholly at fault for the incident” after reviewing video footage of the clash. Car 11 [Perez] was passing on the outside at turn four, was at least fully alongside at the entry of the turn and all the way through the manoeuvre, including at the apex of the corner and left sufficient room for car 63, which ultimately struck car 11.
“This was not considered as a ‘first lap incident’ as this was a battle between the two cars and was not affected by the pack of cars as can happen during the first lap.”
I'm not saying that it should have been deemed as a first lap incident but that @DaveMehmet was saying that. I think Russell should have got a penalty just as your golden boy Max should have got a penalty on the countless occasions when he has forced other drivers off the track over the last few years.
How is Max my golden boy?! I'm a hardcore Ferrari fan you berk, do some research
I just assumed it, as you were so anti-Hamilton. You're not still sore from 2008 are you?

Christ... a Charlton and a Ferrari fan!! - Sport has not been kind to you since 2007 has it
Thankfully the Patriots have filled that gap for me!
Good choice for him, to be honest I don't think the new guys are any better, and if anything the fact they are flip-flopping between the 2 seems to be pissing a lot of the drivers off

True and how much of his decisions were down to trying to please the F1 owners in terms of excitement. What we had was the most exciting championship ever and it was ruined by trying to take that further artificially. For that reason, I am glad he has fcuked off but agree with your statement about the current two.
Ricciardo hasnt helped himself with some of the performances that he's put in.
But equally feel that Mclaren arent showing the whole picture, and have to take some of the blame - There were radio messages from Austria where he felt he was faster than Norris, and wanted to be given the opportunity to fight Ocon (?), but he just kept being told to hold station.

McLaren feels very Team Lando? Which I can understand to a degree , he's their golden boy that they're brought through all the way from karting and obviously hope to make him a WDC one day. I just don't think the new generation of cars are especially suiting Danny's driving style and he's not quite adapted yet.

Oh they're absolutely Team Lando for the reasons you say.
They probably have an inkling that they wont win Lando the World Championship either, so are trying to keep him sweet so that he doesnt jump ship - Especially as both Red Bull and Mercedes have ageing drivers, with little prospect through their own Academies for a while.
Of course Norris is still a damned good driver, there have been a number of occasions where he could have won a race by now - But because of the "protection" it looks like Mclaren are giving him, I couldn't see him going to either RB / Merc and challenging Verstappen or Russell from the off.
To be honest, I think Ricciardo now recognises where he is in the pecking order of drivers.
A few years ago he was frustrated at not being Top dog at Red Bull and took the gamble by jumping ship to Renault, then McLaren. It didn’t quite work out as he’d hoped, and since then, he’s not really had a sniff at winning anything, so his star has faded a bit. However, he’s simultaneously cemented his place as a very capable driver. I reckon he knows he can command a certain amount of respect as a driver, but his chances of being number one at one of the big teams has diminished. So he can either suck up being number two at the front of the field, or be the main man further down the field. He knows he’ll never be world champion now unless something weird happens that throws him an opportunity out of left field (like Button at Brawn, for example) so he may as well pursue a long and financially rewarding career and not be too precious about not being the main man.
The problem is he doesn't have the same pedigree as, let's say, Vettel and Alonso who are top dogs at smaller teams, and hell, he's probably only just on par with Bottas at Alfa. So if you rule out him being at those 3, at McLaren, at RBR, Mercedes and Ferrari, and at Alpha Tauri for obvious reasons, what's he left with? Williams or Haas... If I was him, I'd be looking at 2024 as the year I jump to a different category tbh

Agree with this but fair play to him though. Takes a lot to drive consistently in F1 for over a decade and by the time he leaves (if indeed he does) at the end of next year, he'll be top 10 for most Grand prix starts in history.
Listening to Leclerc's radio message hurt, especially when he screamed at the end - Mercedes really should open dialogue with him now, to take over when Hamilton goes.
Absolute morons, Sainz having to correct his own race engineer on his penalty sums them up.
The fact they were telling him to pit whilst we was fighting for position - Just ridiculous - For once I agreed with PDR, dont know why they didnt leave him out, to see if he could build the 5sec gap between him and Russell, and end up in P4

They gave him an excuse about tyre degradation but surely Sainz himself can judge how good his tyres are? The fact he'd just gone past Perez suggests the tyres were coping ok.
You give that Ferrari to any other team on the grid, even a backmarker like Haas or Aston Martin, and I'm sure their team would do a better job getting it's drivers to wins and podiums. It's like they spend all their money on the team chefs and then have to get Luca the local paperboy to do strategy for them.
Ended as one of the most likeable drivers on the grid….. wasn’t keen on him in his RB days but whilst not on a Hamilton, Schu, Senna, Prost level IMO, he deserves respect as a four time champion who grew into himself as a person.
When the car was right and he started out front he was very very good.

Round of applause for Seb
He has grown up a lot to be fair. Nice, level-headed fella now.

Michael Masi leaves the FIA to move back to Australia
Danny Ric commits to staying at McLaren for 2023 , so no Oscar Piastri, Pato O'Ward, whoever else has been rumoured in the past couple of days
