Painful to watch normally competitive drivers not even bother to defend a single corner if a Red Bull is approaching them.
What makes it so much more frustrating is it has followed such an epic season when Hamilton/Verstappen and Mercedes/Red Bull were so closely matched. To be fair, when these regs were first dreamt up, F1 did have a problem, close racing was very hard, following a car without destroying the fragile Pirelli tyres was almost impossible, and Mercedes were too dominant, but tweaks to those regs and time, allowing the other teams to get closer to Mercedes, meant that by the end of the regs a lot of those big issues had gone away.
I'm not saying it could be foreseen, but these new regs have turned into an own goal for the sport. So many fans were re-enthused by the Hamilton/Verstappen battle but the regs have just hit a huge reset button and now Red Bull are the new Mercedes. Much as I loathe them, you can't hold it against Red Bull that they did a better job than anyone else, but hopefully the others find a way to close the gap soon. This season is already a write off though and Perez is not going to offer Max the same level of challenge that Rosberg managed to take to Lewis.
The two bits of sport I can just about find time to "enjoy" most weeks are Charlton and F1, but they've both been pretty lacklustre recently, which is probably why I find myself getting onto the NHL play-offs a bit more.
F1 continues to boom though. Viewer numbers are up, new races including Vegas added, Drive to Survive is hugely popular and the Brad Pitt F1 movie that Hamilton is involved with will bring more interest to the sport.
The question is how long will casual fans and new fans continue to watch before they get bored of seeing RB winning every race and watching 1-2 processions.
My mate, who is a big F1 fan (actually does go to three or four races a season), says the increase in interest is because of the Netflix thing. He also says it has brought "haters" into the sport - chat roooms and forums where it was previously friendly banter are now more unpleasant places to spend time. I have no idea, but that's what he says.

Hes absolutely bang on. The sport has been taken away from the pure knowledgeable fan into the hands of well adults who behave like children. F1 twitter is so toxic its unbearable. I myself usually do two races a year and have noticed the last couple I went to produced some unsavoury behaviour. One particular incident last silverstone was when a lad in his mid 20s was looking at James hunt merchandise and asked pal . Does this mean cunt ? Literally everything that's wrong with the sport at the minute. Hopefully the drive to survive lot get bored.

He would have found that merchandise on the Red Bull stand
Bit of a rumour going round suggesting that Danny Ric might replace de Vries @ AlphaTauri.
Wouldn't surprise me. De Vries was a bit of a panic move when they couldn't get Herta a Superlicence and Lawson underperformed in F2. Danny Ric until the end of the season and then Lawson in for 2024 allowing him to do Super Formula still would make sense
I know you shouldn't read too much into what is presented on Drive to Survive as it's clearly editted to sensationalize, but De Vries came across as a bit of a knob in the last series, I thought. I'm glad Yuki is schooling him a bit this year.
What the sport used to have happen was unreliability. That meant that the best car could be beaten and increased interest even when there was a clear best car. I think Alan Jones won the World Championship for Williams by only winning one race.
There was always a risk of one team dominating after the rule changes. It is more likely to happen even though the intention was the opposite. Before the changes, Red Bull and Mercedes were closely matched and Ferrari was not too far away. Of course the changes stemmed from a long period of Mercedes dominance but it is ironic that the changes came in when that was being challenged and created a new period of dominance albeit by another team.
The unreliability element was killed off when these shocking new engines came in. V10s and v8s were pushed to the absolute limit and just blew from time to time. Want that era back.
Can I just say in my experience of going to races in the last few years compared to when I went in the early to mid 2010s that almost of the toxic behaviour I’ve seen has been Dutch fans, make of that what you will edit: ( I have nothing per say against max

There have been reports of it from all sides. Ferrari fans burning merch alleged incidents at Silverstone. I saw none. All as bad as each other. None of this back in the day.
Catching some Xtreme E up in Scotland today. Good fun but with random off grid circuits and on board cameras it’s really geared for TV rather than live spectating.
Also I wonder if he's on this forum. I was at the abu Dhabi gp in 2018 at the guns and Roses concert. I met a bloke who was a red and had cafc tattooed on his gum. He was with his Millwall mate who ran a pub somewhere.

Ha, he’s not on here but is one of my best mates! Got CAFC in his lower lip. The pub you mention is the Albany in Bexley. Small world

Yes that was it. The Millwall fella said he knew you and sent you a text about it or something. Madness as he asked if I knew the forum.
Behind closed doors is probably the direction they are going to go. Reminds me when we were turned away from qualifying at Silverstone in 2012 as the car park was flooded.

They've had a sit down, and he's said in Football terms, Nyck has been given a Yellow Card but not a Red... Yet
He's a gonner
Be good to see Mick getting another opportunity as thought he was hard done by @ Haas slightly
Outside the Red Bull Hotel...
So... Saturday would be FP1 and FP2 | Sunday would be Quali and Race
Guess the Formula 3 and Formula 2 would be cancelled though
Cancelled
Seen some suggest that it could be held the weekend after Spa, but that'll be during the Summer Break
