Not sure this has been on here.
Just searching through the drawer looking for passport, and finding far too many expired ones
  • Reading about the possible transfer of Jordan Holsgrove had me wondering whether he is related to John Holsgrove who played for Palace and Wolves in my youth. Without thinking about it too much, I assumed it’s his dad. Then, I discover it’s his grandad - obviously! You know you’re getting old when…

I wondered if there was a connection too
  • The mention of the name Bindon transports me back 30 odd years to the gangster who had a very 'colourful ' short life.

He mixed with the Krays, Richardsons and high society alike.  He shacked up with socialite Vicki Hodge, had access to Princess Margaret on Mystique, made films, wrote books, you name it.

Hope Tyler makes his mark at Charlton - perhaps with less of the excesses of his namesake!

No, you can clearly remember stuff from decades ago. Yesterday, no chance.

When you give up refreshing X and the rumours thread on deadline day and decide to go to bed before Cawley and the club have confirmed no more deals.

I was reminded the other day that the huge Mt. St. Helens eruption was in 1980, can't believe it was that long ago.

The last one was 2008 which was big enough to halt flights for days and probably confuses the timeline memories of it. The bank I was working for had a guy stuck on holiday in Vegas and couldn’t get back to work - if Carlsberg did volcanic eruptions….

When you realise I’ve spent more years in school as a volunteer than I did as a pupil.

When you know you're never going to match your PB at Parkrun anymore.  :(
  • Just found another stache of old crap that needs sorting through - hopefully there’s some Charlton stuff in there as well).

    one for the old boys.

1971, 5th form lads on a visit to the RSC in the Aldwich to see 12th Night for GCE and this lovely fit young lady was in it.

Watch out James Bond, she’s got your number.

That makes me feel young - I don’t know any of those songs! Thank you.

Got sent a medicine pot full of ash by my sister after that eruption,  imagine that going through customs unaccompanied these days.

    Yeah, right….

most of those would have fallen into obscurity on the day they were realeased and you never would have heard them. Some would have done far better than they should have, such were the times, and some would go on to be all time classics

You see England win seven nil against one of the best teams in the world and think “we only ever used to do that to teams like Luxembourg”.

Dick Emery "you are awful" is 2nd only to Rolf Harris' "Tie me kangaroo down sport" (can you see what it is yet?).....
