I am a huge critic of SKY, and was at the Valley today, and from reading this stuff here it looks like SKY did a great job, and were grown up enough to reflect the reality rather than trying to shape reality to suit their ends.
    Thank you SKY.

I honestly don't think Sky could have done much more to be honest Seth. They didn't shy away from the issues and with Chris & Minto on side it was fantastic for us.

Also not a fan of them btw but good coverage today.

seth they did a good job loads and loads of times the protests were mentioned and its good to see an ex payer who really cares about the club in Scot Minto--top man. CP did his bit but i think he has one eye on not being to radical.

Agreed. With the exception of not mentioning those walking out were gathering outside I don't think we can have any complaints about the coverage. It was overwhelming positive really.

GH, thought Powell was excellent in his backing for us at the start. Didn't think he left anyone in any doubt about the situation in a wonderfully diplomatic way.

Montage at end of programme showed as much of the protest as the game highlights. SkySports HQ already trailered a report with shots of the protests.

The CARD critics must be really fed up after all the success of the protests today.

I was hoping to get thrown out along with Mrs TT for the second half whistle protest but it didn't work out as well as I had hoped. Perhaps just the odd whistle from different parts of the ground to mimic the ref in future?

The police were out in force and very obvious outside the ground, some with long batons so I guess were mounted.
Believe me when I say that the regime were not happy today. Let's hope that today has at last brought it home to roland and his apologists that they really have no option but to piss off.

We paid to go in today so that we could do our bit. It is unlikely that we will buy a ticket again unless there is a very good reason until we are free from these clowns.

    Well done all involved.

Just seen the goals and protests on SSN. Two good looking young lads whistling and throwing beach balls on the pitch. Must be their genes : - )

Lots of focus on the mock funeral too

Great pun in the commentary when after showing Pinnochios the voice over said "Charlton got their noses in front". I see what you did there.

    Thank you SKY.

Agree with that, they reported things as they found them, and didn't seek to under or over exaggerate. Very professional broadcast.

That Seb fella is getting a bit popular with his own close up at the end!!!
  • Sky were first class, there was a genuine understanding and sympathy for the fans point of view.

    PWR.

Was watching the BeIn Sport feed, which was probably same cameras as Sky, but we didn't have commentary, just stadium noise. WHICH.WAS.BRILLIANT.

To be honest, I really didn't know what to expect from today. I was massively impressed by the mock funeral. It's something that, not to be critical of CARD, but I just didn't know how it would come off. These sorts of displays are incredibly difficult to pull off. I think pre-match was done with the right amount of humility and anger. The procession of supports walking down to the Valley chanting "We want our Charlton back" put a tear in my eye.

The second minute, with the beach balls, was absolutely brilliant. Delaying the match for a good three minutes where all you could hear was supporters had a tear coming down my cheek. It was incredibly moving. Again, something where I wasn't quite sure how it would come off, but it came off brilliantly, and really drove the message home that we, as supporters, want what's best for our club, and that means the regime has got to go.

I personally didn't like the whistles, but that's because whistles at footy matches is a pet peeve of mine, and something there has been trouble with at various tournaments. It certainly worked.

I gave a small donation to CARD a while back. I've not always agreed with some of their statements, or their tactics, but I appreciate what they are try to do, and it's not about me, it's about what is best for the club. I think today was brilliant. Full credit to those who have put tremendous time, money, and effort into this. Not just today, but in the months prior, and in the months and possibly years to come. Prouder than ever to be Charlton today.

great coverage on sky sports news
  • Best part of that clip is the end where Meire is trying to put on a smile but actually you can see it's almost through gritted teeth. This stuff clearly gets to her.

How many people left on 74? Looked like around 20-30?

There were loads of people coming out of the stadium, and there is no doubt in my mind that more people are clued up and supportive of the protests than before. Yes, there were people who stayed in their seats and carried on watching the game, but people are abandoning the regime in their droves.
We're winning. It's just not going to happen in 5 minutes.

just watched the pre match interview with SCP and Holloway and then the 4 minutes at the start of the game. We really couldn't have asked them to do it any better.
Well done everyone today. Seemed everybody was on their feet and chanting in those first few minutes in particular.
Excellent work by CARD in organising today. Take a bow.

The club deliberately showed the anti pitch invasion message on the big screen over the 74 Minute mark.

We left west lower following the north upper lead.

Very good protests and also a good result.

Disappointing number of people in the ground for me. You have to be there to complain.

I had to rely on the radio today and both Five Live and Radio London (except for Louis' contributions) were terrible from a journalist's perspective, never mind a fan's perspective.

Coverage was limited to match updates, and Radio London - which was at Aston Villa v Tottenham - spent ages going on about how terrible it must be for Villa fans, and went on and on about some "Lerner Out" banner in the Holte End rather than talking about a greater crisis at one of their own area's clubs. For someone that always defends the BBC, it was embarrassing.

I've had a go at Sky as being one of the demons of modern football, but at least they can spot (and, frankly, help create) a bloody story. Good on 'em.

Just watched the coverage. Sky Sports were first class from Minto, Powell, Holloway, Mann and Higginbottom. Excellent viewing

Yes, brilliant. The beach balls was a great success, with sky focussing on the banners as they were cleared. Went better than could be expected. Glad the pitch invasion didn't materialise. The point was made - the fans won today. More battles to come but what a day.

Richard Crawley put a video up of the walk out and I personally thought it was impressive.
