  • Target 20k started off with gates of 16k at the valley now lucky to have 8k. Well done ladies and gents keep up the good work.

Not sure why rat face wants us to mingle outside the stadium. We did las season when we protested to get the tosser out and he didn't like it.

Why is it so hard to understand that if you get a half decent team that's at least sniffing around the top half of the championship then people will spend their money, people will get to the valley earlier, people will start to enjoy themselves.

So Roland stressed he had never been involved in team selection. Does that mean that he is saying Chrissy Powell is lying??

Thats how deluded they are, they clearly don't realise by saying it never happened means they are calling one of the most respected individuals in the game a liar. Even anyone who isn't that closely involved with Charlton knows CP is as honest as the day is long.
Possible they are both technically speaking the truth due to different wording. Roland 'I have never been involved with the selection of the team'

SCP 'I was told to pick certain players'

All the while Roland is sending emails 'suggesting' certain players be picked. So no direct involvement in selection. Of course Powell ignored him and was sacked...
  • If the members of T2OK want to improve communication between the fans and club then they should be looking to bring The owner and his CEO to a meeting, the Trust have asked for a meeting and been declined, to date T20K have come up with nothing worth shouting about.

The opening statement is a load of nonsense.

  • A couple of questions arise for me: was that statement vetted by the club before release? It may be a coincidence but it shows some of the grammatical hallmarks of a club statement. Also, and I acknowledge what a tough task it would have been, but what the hell did target20k do last season to retain the fan base?

I really can't get my head around it. How can anybody spend £40m+ on something yet only give 1.5% of a fuck about it?!

It does not mention how much time he puts into the club, the 1.5% represents what the club is worth in his portfolio of investments.

    A very good observation.

The statement says that no minutes were taken and yet it provides bullet points of all those issues which would be seen as positive tick marks by the regime and much more besides which does suggest perhaps that if minutes weren't taken by Target20K committee then they were certainly taken (or recorded) by somebody in attendance in order to produce the statement.

The evidence, or negative evidence if T20K say that no minutes were taken does indeed suggest perhaps a club origin for the statement as @HandG has divined.

It does have the look and feel of a statement written by, or vetted by, some PR people. The claims of what they have achieved (aimed at showing legitimacy), the claims of independence (to show the group represent fans not the club) and the promise of future meetings with the SMT/Duchatalet (to start preparing them as being the voice of the fans).

Another example of the PR war being waged this season.
  • If some of these people are in full time education they ought to look up what 'represent' means.

very true ... they only represent themselves as far as I can see
  • Seems to reflect how Roland and Katrien work

  • What relevance is there that Target20K consists of people in full-time employment and full-time education? Is that more a remark about the amount of spare time they have, or...?

Mingle outside the stadium for a social occasion LOL

We've been doing that superbly to be fair..
  • Some contemporaneous minutes were taken and we have asked the person involved in the best interest of T20 for them to leave.
  • contemporaneous

    What a word

For a successful businessman, Roland seems to have a poor grasp of maths. Given he earns no income from CAFC, his investment of £50m+ at 1.5% would put his wealth at £3.75bn. Given his reported worth of £500k or 10% investment, 1.5% of his time would reflect how he doesn't have his eye on the ball.

As a 69 yo, if he worked 13 hours a day 7 days a week or 101 hours, so just watching the stream for 95" and having no contact with KM, RS, TD and others would exceed 1.5%.

    LIAR!!!!
  • These numbers are all elastic, but the only way I could get near 1.5% was to assume Chris Parkes' £1m a month equates to £12m per year, this being 1.5% of RD's total wealth of about £800m, which might not be too far off given the rounded nature of the numbers quoted.

    What a load of tosh.

They've carefully chosen their words I think. Roland didn't pick the team, that shows given Koc never even made the bench and Nego started once.

That doesn't mean he didn't tell Powell who to play and/or ask why various players weren't picked afterwards. I can't believe that wasn't the case.

Whatever happened it's obvious he put pressure on Powell to play them.
    He said play them.

    Powell said no.

Again, there's a pattern here. The new PR company have clearly advised the SMT to keep repeating things and they may well start to be believed. Any journalist looking to go down the "Duchatalet interferes" line will immediately find the quote and possibly assume that he is as good as his word.

Much of what is coming out the club this season is PR-advised material aimed at slowly blunting opposition and rebuilding the SMT's image. No more, no less.

They are also doing this with the whole 'we have learnt from our mistakes' line. They trot that out all the time and, whenever there is a national story on Charlton, the journalist sometimes says the owner has admitted mistakes as if there is something positive for us in the future.

How many times has someone from the regime peddled this 'learnt from our mistakes' lie? I might try and find some examples so we can quickly rebut anything in the future.
  • The last few weeks have taught us that the "we learn from our mistakes" is the same bullshit as the "we recognise the need for better communication" peddled out last season.

The PR company has advised them to take this line. The PR company has advised them to meet with fans (tame ones who will do as they are told). It's all aimed at the media, not the supporters. Which is why the protests need to resume, because too many in the wider world now think things have calmed down and the fans are more onside.
  • It was a Nazi maxim that a lie repeated enough times becomes the truth.

Yes those that survived went to Belgium and joined the regime
  • What mistakes have you made and how have you learned from them?

They ended up sunning themselves on Argentinian beaches, and helping themselves to South American stunners?
  • 'Learned from our mistakes'

I would love to ask Katrien or RD exactly what they believe those mistakes were, because I believe they wouldn't be able to give a single specific example.

    Deluded.
