Good post Greenie and whilst I think it's more of a 3 point turn, driving test failure as opposed to a U-turn in my eyes were not to far away from each other in feeling we should support the team and not the regime.
My tipping point would be a new CEO then I would be very torn in renewing, until then I am away only but I hope you enjoy the season and pleased your wearing black and white!
Fantastic (and very sad) logical post from @Grapevine49 and an equally brilliant emotional post from @Greenie showing that, despite the fact that committing yourself to another season of potential purgatory defines all sensibility, those emotional ties are hard to break despite the best efforts of Roland and Meire.
The moral of this tale is not to judge those who do nor those who do not renew their season tickets! It's a personal decision as shown by my family where my dad has renewed and me and my son have not.

Final paragraph sums things up in the division of fans views.
Seems to me that those on here who just love spouting about having bought season tickets are in truth feeling a bit guilty about doing so. All the "it's my club" bollocks and encouraging others to buy STs too (because they know they are in an uncomfortable minority) is just covering up their embarrassment. Buying an ST while this shit regime is in charge is just wrong. You know it. I know it.
Just read this thread...I've renewed, I was at the first protest and all the subsequent protests, I bought the scarves and supported the protests, I have ordered the CARD shirt, I also set out personal stipulations that if met I would renew...they have...guess what? I dont feel guilty about it, I dont feel embarrassed...I have my reasons, reasons that you (having read your post) would not even have the intelligence to comprehend, they are personal reasons. Furthermore, guess what, I dont give a fuck what people on a football forum think about my decision (Cue some bell posting 'not enough not to post about it though' zzz). Carry on.
May I respectfully ask what were the personal stipulations that they met? I don't see any improvement (yet). Possibly three good league one players in. Jordan gone. JBG will go plus a few other of our better players. To me that makes a far inferior squad than that we had last season.
Of course Pete Gage, no problem:- Myself and my mates I still go with (all our dads used to take as to Charlton from the early 70's onwards, so you get the idea of commitment from all of us, and our kids go) said at the end of last season, that I/we would only renew if one of two criteria would be met. They were, that The Rat and Liar sell up OR that they appoint a proven League 1/Championship British Manager and also start adding British players with League 1/Championship experience. Now Rat and Liar are not going to sell for the forceable future, it could be 2,3,4, seasons. I honestly didn't think they would appoint an English manager and U turn by buying English players. So my mates and myself said Ok lets go to Welling and meet for beers instead of going to the Valley, BUT they did U Turn, so we have renewed.
Also from a more personal point of view, my dad, an addict since he was a kid when his dad took him to the Valley, passed away a couple of months ago, right to the end he supported the protests from afar, he moved to Norfolk 25 years ago, but still came to the Valley (albeit rarely), however he would wear his Centenary Shirt to his local whenever we were on the box. My dad was a Trade Unionist, he was Father of The Chapel at the Evening Standard. He had the Black and White protest scarf and thanks to Curb_it on here, he had the protest beer mats which he put out at home and in his local. Just before he died we were discussing the protests while he was in hospital, I said that were we boycotting. An immensely intelligent man, he pointed out that any protest is much more powerful from within, and having overseen the protests/pickets in the '80's at Murdochs Sun and Shahs Today newspapers, successfully negotiating great settlements for his members, he knows what he is talking about. Also the team loses your support. So at the Valley this season I will not buy any food/drink in the ground, I will be wearing the BW scarf and the CARD shirt and I will make my voice heard against this regime, BUT I will also support the team. The loss of 'the old man' has put all my ducks in a row, aligning what is important to me. None of us have our dads anymore (the dads were best mates) and going to football keeps their spirit alive, for us its the right thing to do. So when someone says on a football forum that I must feel guilty and embarrassed about buying a season ticket, well they dont really know which way is up, do they!
It was me that said about people were feeling guilty and embarrassed about renewing. Having read your post, I would like to withdraw those comments and offer my apologies for them.
I think I do know "which way is up", but clearly when I posted that I was feeling pretty emotional. I love my club and I have just as much history as you, going to going with my late dad from the 60/61 season. It breaks my heart not to renew but I just feel that to do so under this regime is wrong. I made a difficult call one way, you made your call the other way. There are no rights and wrongs. What wound me up was the way some fans who have renewed have been trying to gee up others to do the same. You haven't done that and I shouldn't have tarred everyone with the same brush.

Hey Davo55, No need to apologise, but thanks anyway. It's such an emotive feeling supporting a football club and we all do it in different ways, on this forum there are polar opposite views on many subjects, but none more than the views on the turds that are in charge of our club, almost all dislike them and almost all want them gone it's just we have different ideas on how it should be done. I totally respect and understand my fellow supporters decisions not to renew, but as I said in my post I will still protest against the regime but from a different position I will join all the west stand protests etc, however sometimes life has a way of aligning things and as I alluded to earlier, for me having a drink with the sons of my dads best mate before games means I am a step closer to the old man rather than a step away and it's the same for them, in regard to their dad. It's what we always did/do! And this kind of emotion will never be understood by our CEO she would probably think we are really 'unique'. Take care Cheers COYRs
The most horrible thing is not one of us wants to feel this way, not one of us wants to stay away from the club they love or feel guilty/not sure if they should buy a season ticket.
It is so unnatural to as all, I want to look forward to going to the Valley to seeing us win, to feel that feeling of pride and love for all things Charlton.
It breaks my heart that I am not renewing my season ticket after many years. It was mine, my daughter's and my pals Saturday's. I didn't realise how much it was part of our life until now. All because some dick with loads of money wants to proove he can do things his way, no matter who he steps on while doing it. Well no matter how much it hurts, he isn't going to win. Please don't give in. If you have renewed or if you are just getting tickets on the day, let them know they are not welcome and WE WANT OUR CHARLTON BACK !!!!
I was a season ticket holder for 30/35 years until recently. My daughter also had a season ticket. We have not had any letters, email or phone calls about renewing despite them having our new address etc. Ps I would not renew anyway!!
Haven't renewed, won't be renewing & have absolutely no enthusiasm or excitement for the new season - forced myself to watch last nights friendly in Austria but had no connection to the players in the Red shirt, even when Hanlan scored, I felt neutral towards it & this is the upsetting thing, Roland & Katrien have killed my passion for the club, I feel like I don't care anymore, whether that passion returns when/if we have new ownership I genuinely don't know.

It's the (understandable ) apathy as much as the outright hostility that will kill us off. Like you I haven't renewed. ..I'll admit it's a tough habit to break.
The most committed (and probably hostile ) will get to plenty of away games, but slowly interest will evaporate. ..just as it did in the 60s and early 70s. The club can't be sustained for long like this, and I'm hating this Hobson's choice of supporting the regime or helping the club to falter (by boycotting home games).
I keep changing my mind, was adamant i wasn't going to get one, then was tempted, but now very doubtful i will, but if they strengthen the squad with a few more players who have been there and done it i might be tempted again, it's a big if though. Don't know what i'll do on a Saturday if i don't go, as this would have been my 35th season.

I've renewed, I'm booked in for Bury away and can't wait for the new season to start (I'm a Charlton fan after all) but even I didn't bother to watch a meaningless game in Austri last night. You 'don't care anymore' ??? Don't kid yourself

Roll on the new season, Bury away booked, having a laugh, joke and beer with the boys on Saturday afternoon and then go to watch the team we have loved.
It's extremely unlikely that I'll buy a ST before the first home match, but I suspect I'll buy a ticket for that game (Northampton) to check out who's around. I suspect the first midweek game (Shrewsbury) will be very empty

I'm not having a pop, but if you sat through a pre season friendly of a Charlton X1 v Maccabi no one, then you still have more passion than 99% of Charlton fans. Well done you. Even I wouldn't bother with that.
KM first home game of the season, looking around at the empty seats and thinking "Well at least all those nasty people have left the club and not renewed, I can go back to enjoying my champagne at half time and house DJ after the match"
The game kicks off.........
"WE WANT ROLAND OUT........"
KM "Bastards, they're still here"
To quote @Greenie senior (RIP Geenie's old man) "Any protest is much more powerful from within"
The protest's inside the ground MUST keep up.
We all have our own agenda's and have made the choice to renew/not renew. But we must all stick together.

Well knock me down with a feather, you do realise it's the Bury north west of Manchester and outside your normal M25 radius for away trips?

I'm going to the Bury game and will be protesting at the Bury game.
Undecided if i'll go to Northampton the following week but if I do I won't be in my usual spot and plan to either get near KM or opposite in the East. To protest. And support the team.
