It is fair to compare this regime to the one which took us to shit Hurst park. Because then just like now it has divided supporters. I chose not to go to shithurst and joined the valley party instead, many of my mates decided to go to shithurst, to this day we still argue as to who was right.
The point is that you have to do what you feel is right, but I totally respect all those who renew and all those who choose not to .COYR
I've been inconvenienced enough by the shite football offering without that hassle
Hassle of what ? Standing in a queue for 10 mins or purchasing a ticket online from the comfort of you home ?
or not being sure you can sit next to the people you want to
I think you will be able to lay out a picnic anywhere other than the North Lower this season.
I looked earlier at North Upper H Block where I had a season ticket. This was a block you couldn't get a seat in for love nor money a couple of seasons ago.
ST sold for rows in stairwell going back:
JJ - 4 KK - 0 LL - 3 MM - 2 NN - 2 OO - 4 PP - 1 QQ - 2 RR - 0 SS - 2 TT - 0 UU - 3 VV - 1
And I bet the bloke in row VV will keep shouting 'sidddaaarnn' to the 4 in row JJ
JJ in the North Upper? Thought his legs had gone.
That's why he's in the North Upper instead of on the pitch!

To those of us in the tech savvy, convenience first camp on this site both of those two options you suggest are a hassle. Next you'll be telling us you still write cheques...
What are you talking about ?, will the season ticket not be purchased online ? Because I would guess that purchasing by post is even more hassle.
The season ticket is a one-off purchase. You don't have to do it more than once in a season
That's not really the point you were trying to make though is it ?

Aside from those who are abstaining.....Is everyone from North Upper transferring to North Lower then? Or will those from the upper blocks still be standing up there?

Can you only purchase 1 ticket at a time then ?
Ok - play football some Saturday's, youngest will use it sometimes - want him to sit with my bro and mates, when I go I want to sit with them - can't be arsed to buy individual tickets or queue up - change of strategy - promotion quickest way for rd to sell - u r pissing in the wind if u think buying individual tickets will affect rd more than u - being a drama queen of u think it's as bad as it's ever been now etc etc
Promotion is the only way to get rid of the regime, it's the only way that he can get a decent price for the club. Don't try telling me that money don't matter to him, you don't get that rich by not loving money. So it's so fuckin important that we get promoted or else he's here for another year

Bought my first season ticket in 1975 (a few days after that unforgettable victory over Preston which saw us promoted when still on a wave of euphoria). Had a season ticket or been a member every season since.
Bought a half-year season ticket in January 1998 for myself and my son when I thought things looked promising! (Good move if I say so myself). We've had those same seats ever since.
But neither of us have renewed and won't do so again until Roland effs off.
But despite this length of "loyal support" not heard a word from the club. Certainly no telephone call from them. Find it amazing that they can't be bothered to at least contact me to try and get me to re-new.
And having had a crafty look at the area of the East Stand where we used to sit, I can see a good number of other seats previously occupied by long-standing fans that are still for sale. So we're clearly not the only ones adopting this approach.
Roalnd, if you are having a crafty peek at this thread please take my heartfelt advice and just eff off so my son and I can go back to doing what we enjoy doing on a Saturday afternoon.
I had a season ticket since the selhurst days, haven't renewed, haven't had a phone from the club. Still as a customer, I can choose where I go to watch my football.
Next season, it will be where Charlton are playing away.
I have had a few weeks wavering after (like many) 30 years of saturdays in SE7, my dad is very ill at the moment and the reality is I will never see the Valley again with him, but having talked it through with him and my cousin Danny I am really getting my head around a season of away days with our two sons.
Previously I have made 4 or 5 aways a season but the four of us are going to try and make them all this season (holidays apart) we will still go to the Millwall home game and the odd midweek pay on the door.
Kept my VG, again despite concerns but partly out of nostalgia (membership no 57) and to hopefully assist with tickets.
Despite all the positive sounds coming from within the club, nothing has changed at the very top and whilst KM is still employed as our CEO (the very least before I would reconsider) I am going to support the club on the road and on saturdays help at the museum before assisting the landlady's takings at the Rose of Denmark.
Those that have renewed its entirely their choice and good luck to them, similar to Selhurst in that those who stayed away and those who attended both played their role in the survival of the club. We all love our club and it's the interim owners that are bad guys in all this not each other.

Seems to me that those on here who just love spouting about having bought season tickets are in truth feeling a bit guilty about doing so. All the "it's my club" bollocks and encouraging others to buy STs too (because they know they are in an uncomfortable minority) is just covering up their embarrassment. Buying an ST while this shit regime is in charge is just wrong. You know it. I know it.
Just read this thread...I've renewed, I was at the first protest and all the subsequent protests, I bought the scarves and supported the protests, I have ordered the CARD shirt, I also set out personal stipulations that if met I would renew...they have...guess what? I dont feel guilty about it, I dont feel embarrassed...I have my reasons, reasons that you (having read your post) would not even have the intelligence to comprehend, they are personal reasons. Furthermore, guess what, I dont give a fuck what people on a football forum think about my decision (Cue some bell posting 'not enough not to post about it though' zzz). Carry on.
It's a tough choice I think as fans we just need to respect everyone's choice and not turn on each other, we all want the same thing and that's success for Charlton on and off the pitch. There have been a lot of improvements so far from previous seasons so I can see why some fans have been swayed. For me there is no right or wrong.

Can we please stop this endless comparison of the current regime to those of 30, 40, 50 yrs ago? The money for the last two decades in the game driven by television and particularly Sky has transformed the entire industry landscape.
It is akin to the comparative pursuit of warfare over the same period while ignoring the technicological advances in armaments.
The days of the local builder, baker, butcher and timber merchants dipping their hands in their pockets each and every season have long passed into history.
If you do not recognise the distinction then it is not surprising you do not recognise the fundamental flaw in the argument so many seem so desperate to hang on to.
Positioning any regime against what you see as the worst regimes is not an endorsement. It is the very definition of "damning with faint praise".
Mametz has summarised the profiles of past administrations very well.
The overriding theme through all of them, no matter their failings, was their intent to produce a first team able to compete successfully at the highest possible level.
THIS REGIME POSSESSES NO SUCH ASPIRATION.
The focus of this regime via its Belgian Corporate vehicle as evidenced by its policies, actions and decisions over 31 months is to trade profitably from player acquisition, development and sales.
NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS.
Anecdotal evidence from the € 20mn pulled out of Standard Liege which probably funded our purchase and the recent sale of the young Belgian striker by Marseille to Chelsea earning/ repaying Staprix circa £10mn testify to this approach.
Sadly so badly have they misunderstood their UK venture they consistently ignored the market needs and opportunities increasing our debt to nearer £45mn whilst now losing circa £5mn p.a. revenue in getting the club relegated to a level at which the current "Chairman" has long stated the club is not sustainable.
The consequence of these "club failures" is any "profit" which may finally accrue to the club on player turnaround (Gudmundsson will be the first) will for the foreseeable future merely reduce the debt including the ever accruing interest to Staprix created by an appalling performance overseen by the common key shareholder.
The club has become no more than a vehicle for the Staprix P&L.
The entire ambition and consequent strategy is determined by a financial business model which at best pays mere lip service to the underlying principle of producing team striving for sporting excellence.
It is a recipe for stagnation and decline.
I understand and commiserate with the regular churn about the decades of supporting your club but regrettably the fundamentals of the club you supported for all of those years no longer exist. It is your club in name only no matter how fervently you may wish it otherwise.
It is almost uniquely (Oyston and Blackpool seem to be on the same journey) a fundamental betrayal of the national game.
The current key shareholder is entirely ambivalent to the success of the first team. That is not an accusation you could levy at Gliksten, Hulyer, the Sunleys, the multiple iterations of Murray, the S&J duo all of whom sought first team success within their financial capacity.
Each administration regularly sold players for financial survival but at the same time did their best to support the manager of the day by reinvesting in the first team squad.
It matters not whether you are at Level 1 or Level 8 of the football pyramid that has to be the minimum expectation of the players, coaches, managers and supporters of any professional team organisation.
I repeat it is not the case today. So no, in sporting terms the club has not been in a worse state.
I could argue with an unprecedented level of debt it has never been in a worse financial position either.
For those wishing to embrace the "new approach" of an English manager and the arrival of the first 3 English senior professionals direct from other English senior clubs the club, now into its 2nd week of the preseason, is still grossly underprepared for the season ahead.
Our season starts just 4 Saturdays away.
How many senior operating positions across the business remain unfilled?
Preparation is key to building the foundations of a successful season.
Even if I concede there is an intent to change, and it is at this stage a huge assumption the manager will be properly supported in structuring an appropriate first team squad, there is little evidence to suggest the necessary competence to successfully deliver such change exists.
I do not suggest managing a relegation is easy. It isn't but in preparation for a new season it is important you generate and sustain a new momentum. An experienced, focused CEO will have recognised the need to make things happen to drive such change, to create momentum.
I regret there is little indication our corporate ownership even recognises such requirement let alone has the competence to deliver.
At the time of writing we have circa 42 professionals under contract of which 21 have minimal if any League experience.
Of the other 18 outfield players Bauer, Diarra, Lennon, and Kashi are not match fit.
Of the remaining players; - Gudmundsson and Bergdich will certainly be enjoying pastures. - Cousins, Texeira and probably Lookman are on the trading block - Solly and Jackson carry repeating injury profiles
So within 4 weeks we face having to build on the core of Johnson, Fox, Ba, Holmes, Novak, Ajose, Watt of whom 3 have only been at the club for a matter of days.
The squad despite its change in resourcing today carries a very great many of the pitfalls we have seen over the past 2 close seasons. The core of the squad in defence and in midfield looks as fragile as ever.
If such a framework represents to you a serious and competent attempt by the executive of the club to support Mr Slade in his endeavours to achieve success on the field on behalf of all of us then I seriously beg to differ.
The club is still to even appoint an assistant for Slade and a replacement Doctor.
I fully hope those who have chosen to invest in season tickets for the coming season enjoy the experience but at present it remains a huge leap of faith there has been any material change in the underlying management of the club.

Your posting prompted me to have a look at our old seats in Block D East Stand. They are still available as are the majority of surrounding seats which were all held by season ticket holders. Again despite decades of support, like others, have heard nothing from the Club

Also just looked at my old seat in block G East Stand. Looks pretty empty except for 3 around where I used to sit - none of them protested last year and the bloke behind me was a 'siddarn!' type. Sad thing is that although I didn't know any of them before I got my season ticket there we all became friends. The protests have divided us - thanks Roland.
I really do envy some people, they either have a glass half full outlook or they are permanently on mushrooms or some other mind bending substances. Me, I just see things in black and white. This mob won't sell up at a higher level because its unobtainable with their plans and I won't be funding or subbing Charlton at this level.
