Drive the crowds down to non existent then apply for planning saying that running a football club in Charlton is no longer financially viable and Bob's your Uncle Roland and he multiplies his many millions tenfold by building umpteen mega flats on the upcoming, up market Charlton next to a main line railway station with easy access to London.

Tosh! the local council know what is going on at Charlton and they know the size of the fan base, it will never be allowed to happen.

We need to stop targeting Katrien SHE IS GOING NOWHERE - and we need to put the pressure on Roland in his own back yard!

Until the fanbase get a grip of that idea we wont get this prick out of our club.
Tosh! They have to be attacked in lots of different ways, that includes embarrassing him in Belgium but there is no one thing that will do it. Some protests aren't to everyone's tastes and are ridiculed but they are all chipping away at them big or small. You've been to Belgium twice and fair play to you but he's still here right?
Yes but look at the impact, Katrien went fucking mental when @The_President showed up at her fathers door, and Roland released the statement after we leafleted his apartments.

This season we are going to seek approval from the mayor of katriens town and also the mayor of sint truiden to distribute leaflets to every house. if they say we cant then we will argue that freedom of information is not being allowed to be shared.

We want people to know back in there community's how upset these two people have made THOUSANDS! of football fans back in the UK!.

As i have said repeatedly - they have disrupted out households and our livelihoods (sad as some may think that is) Why is it considered over the line to do the same to them?

They have no place in football or as part of a community of thousands of people, and hopeful local pressure will help.

We also aim to target his businesses and also start a group for Sint truiden like CARD.

Lots to be done and so far we have 20 people willing to help.

You dont have to spend hundreds of pounds and go to Belgium to help.

Anyway roll on the No if or Buts jokes

Alternatively, if the Belgian Post Office is anything like Royal Mail, they could deliver flyers for a small fee.

Not sure that Freedom of Information is the correct line to take mind you.

Very good, I think I'll relocate and live over there, and stick a tent outside his gaff.

There is only so much that can be done abroad, we can hardly have 'representatives of Charlton' in Belgium on a regular basis.
    Head = Brick wall
So how many times each month will you be going abroad next season in the name of protesting?
  • Top notch post, Stig.
  • C4FC4L1f3 - not sure you should release that kind of info on here. Stick with the element of surprise.

none of it will happen so it is irrelivent

If there's one thing we need to do, it's to move away from the notion that there is one thing to do! We are in a war of attrition and we need to operate on a broad number of fronts doing whatever we can to: 1. Demonstrate to the regime that it is not working and cannot work, 2. Embarrass the regime by publicly highlighting their incompetence, both here and in Belgium, 3. Minimise any revenue that the regime can make by boycotting their products and services and those of their sponsors. We need to be strategic and consider about how we can best progress on all fronts at least cost to ourselves and to Charlton's long term future. Duchatelet has made it clear that he wants to carry on with this farce. We need to make it clearer that he cannot stay; that one day we will get our club back and that it will be easier for him, his pocket and his ego if he sees sense and makes that day sooner rather than later. We also need to be opportunistic, demonstrating flexibility to take advantage of situations that might arise at short notice, punishing them for their mistakes and highlighting them to the world.

There are huge dangers in thinking that there is a silver bullet that will achieve what we want, whether it is C4FC4L1f3's Balle d'argent Belgique or some other imagined panacea. Such thinking limits the good work that can be done and reduces the overall pressure on the regime. It also sidelines anyone who cannot be involved in the chosen arena, potentially alienating them. We need all Charlton fans to play a part, not just a handful. It's going to take a huge amount of pressure to dislodge Duchachelet, we're going to need everyone playing a part not just a few. The plan to leaflet St Truiden sounds very positive, if it is part of a bigger assault on the regime that includes both Duchatelet and Meire. To say we need to stop targeting Meire is sheer folly. She was under tremendous pressure at the end of last season, if we can carry on on that particular front and force her out that will also get to Duchatelet. By denying that potential, you limit our chances of success. It's not one shining knight, or even one crack-troop, that will win this war but an entire army of Charlton fans. Please do the Belgium thing. Go out there, leaflet, talk to people and do the sterling job that I am sure you are capable of. But please, leave your ego at home. Because it is not you alone that will defeat Duchatelet, but all of us working together.

Great post mate. There is no ego anyone who has met me will tell you that I'm sure. And time and time again I have siad that all lines of protest need to be done, but we also need the main protests to be open to not just the same old same old.

If katrien goes and is replaced by say an excellent CEO would you still protest?

Or more likely replaced by Murry.

She is family and I find it unlikely she will ever get the sack or leave the club unless Roland goes first.

I also find he is a softer target going by what SL fans have told us.

  • I can't imagine Roland ever sacking her, either. Any normal owner would have got rid of her ages ago, but there's certainly some hold that she has over him. What I think is more likely is that she will have enough of this and decide there are easier ways to earn a living, especially if she can manage to find something she's competent at. There were numerous times last season when the pressure was getting to her: the laundry van incident, the faked resignation, the liar banner. I'm not convinced she can take another season of it.

Interesting question about getting 'an excellent CEO'. Given that hypothetical scenario, yes I would still protest. Duchatelet would still be the owner and he'd still care nothing about either football in general or Charlton in particular. I hardly think it's very likely though. We're more likely to get some other network nobody (as you say, Murray) in just the same way they used to shuffle the 'head coaches' around. If we did get a decent CEO, I'd imagine that we'd very quickly be in a Baroni-style situation where the person who was acting professionally couldn't condone what was happening and quickly moved on (carefully deleting all evidence of their Duchatelet dalliance from their cv).

Maybe you're right and Two Shats is a softer target. I wish you every success in exposing Duchatelet's soft underbelly (awaits comment from DM).

I hope your dad makes a speedy recovery robroy. As far as S/T's go, everyone should do what they want/need to do. The same as in every aspect of life. Even CARD said this.

"We are also concerned at the potential for a divide among fans opposed to Duchatelet, between those who renew and those that don’t. As such we are urging fans in the former camp to reserve their position until July, when Charlton’s future - including whether or not the current ownership has genuinely addressed fans’ continuing concerns - will be clearer.”
  • Unbelievable support they get down there and a cracking away game.

Shame they only have one song!

Now you've mentioned that I have to get this off my chest. Southampton only have one song and it annoys me so much! They sing nothing apart from "oh when the Saints." No idea why it upsets me but it really does.

I did not want to renew mine but my Dad wanted too, so I did in the end. Solely for the reason of spending each Saturday with my dad in the pub and having a few beers. I have protested at every game and will continue to do so.

What if Roland keeps the club for another five years? I'm 34 and gone since I was 4. Its in my blood.

My Dad won't be about forever and spending time with him is too valuable to me to give up. I don't want to look back and regret not spending my Saturday's with him going to matches due to some twat who owns the club.

What will be sad is the amount of passionate people that have not renewed that won't be there to protest next season, it will make their life easier for KM and Roland.

My Dad had his second stroke on Monday and was taken to hospital via ambulance, he is now back at home and fingers crossed is on the mend. When he was on the bed in A&E he was stating that he would be ok and that he still wanted to go Bury away. He clarified that yesterday when I was driving him home. This hammered home to me yet again how valuable my football time is with my Dad. I wont and could not risk not having a season ticket whilst he is around, regardless of the owners!
Totally agree. If my Dad were still alive I'd do the same. I hope he's well enough to go to Bury - if he's there I'd like to buy him a pie n pint.

It surprises me that Southampton sing "Come on you Reds" along with 30 odd other teams in the league, where they could sing "Come on you Saints" like St Helens RLFC fans do

Fingers crossed we will be up at Bury, would be great to meet up with some fellow Addicks! Thanks @Arsenetatters

  • Went with my grandad to get his season ticket on Monday.
The lady in the ticket office (only one position open and she said she's been asked to help out from a different department) said that paying by credit card would incur a £5 charge.
Is this normal? Is it allowed? Either way it's not a good way to encourage sales.

Must also add that she gave good customer service and so have everyone I've dealt with in ticket department (including phone and online) - note. I've never had to deal with Mandy but that's irrelevant now.

Yes, the £5 cc charge has been around for as long as I can remember.
