yes just got back from Edgbaston and a great game, great ground, great beer. Also went to Trent Bridge so 2 great games in a week. Looking forward to the Oval game but not the ground (crap facilities when full)
That new stand really transformed Edgbaston. A good day trip from London too.
Both the Oval and Lords are great grounds but suffer from a lack of circulation space
I only watched it this morning. I thought it was Hales best performance for England. He looked so confident from the off & I thought he looked good for a ton, when still in his 20's.
Roy of course also did very well.
Woakes has also improved massively this summer imo.

Spot on, an absolute nightmare when full at The Oval. Carnage when it rains (which seems to be every time I go!).

Sorry, Oval is just a (dis?)functional ground , but Lords is just the most wonderful sporting arena on the planet. Every time i go there, the hairs stand on the back of my neck - it is unlike any other sports venue in the world - truly wonderful.

Lords is wonderful, but not perfect either, the lower Compton/Edrich stands are freezing and wind tunnels, and vast amounts of the ground are members only.
I think the OCS stand at The Oval is great looking

Ooh, yes, lower Compton/Edrich is like watching cricket from the inside of a postbox.
Jordan in for Moeen - am i right in saying that every England player today has cored a first class century ? Rashid is due in at 11, and he certainly has scored more than one.

England have an extraordinary number of all rounders now, not that they had to do much batting on Friday LOL

Anyone wanting to watch some England batting carnage...the women's ODI against Pakistan today has been sport of the most gratifyingly brutal and mismatched kind
Well that was a lesson in brilliance from one of my hero's! I always had niggling doubts that he might not make the step up as well as I hoped. He always seemed to be a nice 30 or 40 man but never the massive one. But the world T20 showed he could do it and he has backed it up here. Hope he carries on and takes it to another level. I know Bayliss rates him very highly.
I think so. He really reminds me of KP in his batting style..a joy to watch.
I'm not sure. Last year he was very good in div 2. He has struggled more in div 1 but so has the whole team (including sanga). His average of 37 is distorted by a few seasons towards the beginning of his career where he was forced to play as an opener in the longer format and struggled massively. Whilst I am and always have been a huge Jason Roy fan and would love to see him in the test side I am not sure he has it.
I know that Bayliss rates him and wants him in the test squad so as I said at the beginning of the season I wouldn't be surprised to see him given a go. Especially with Taylors place now up for grabs.
Hopeven I am proven wrong and he makes the position his own. There have been other cases where players have come in after not really setting the championship alight and been very good. Trescothick averaged low 30s before his debut but was a top class test player. So no need to rule Roy out.
Good score by England today 324-7 - they really are turning into a very capable batting unit, everybody chipped in with Root top-scoring in a strangely clunky innings (for him)

The oval is a long way off being close even though tickets are more available.

Crazy looking ground with the flats behind.
That's what happens when you play internationals in the south of England, you get all the bad weather...
Shame ROY didn't overtake Smith
Ruthless from England (not quite like Woy...)
I love the way DLM adjusted the target from 306 to 308 :-)
