Nigel Adkins has emerged as the new favourite to become the manager of Bolton Wanderers. The likes of Peter Reid and current Southend United manager Phil Brown remain in the spotlight as well, but the emergence of Adkins has to be of interest.
Billy Davies has entered talks with Charlton Athletic over the vacant manager’s job according to a report from the South London Press.
The Addicks have been looking for a new manager after Jose Riga resigned as their head coach following the end of the season and the South London club are hoping to appoint the man who can take them back into the Championship.
Steve Evans, Billy Davies and Russell Slade are all pretty pants IMO
Adkins is certainly my preferred. If he's not interested then tell him to go forth and multiply but please don't resort to one of those journeyman types listed above
Why?? Davies has been out of the game for a while.
Steve Evans did a great job with Rotherham and Leeds' fortunes seemed to take a turn for the better when he took over there. Likewise, Orient fell apart when Slade left and i thought Slade did a very admirable job at Cardiff in the face of unhappy (unreasonable) fans and an impossible owner.

For me, it would be: Slade Evans Davies.
Slade has the worst win record percentage and is the only manager to not gain promotion with any of the teams he has managed.
Evans seems to do well, hopefully he will get hungry at the interview and eat katrien
Slade has done well too but look like a twat in that hat
Davies has had his day. I wanted him to replace curbs but that was 10 years ago. He couldn't get in his car and drive away from the valley quick enough 10 years ago. Let him keep driving away

Just my preference. Evans is a joke (refer to Boston days), Slade has had more clubs than Tiger Woods) and always comes across as everybody's favourite uncle. as least with Davies there will be fireworks.
Whatever happens were going to get a dud. Anyway I've backed both Davies and Adkins so I might as well make a couple of quid.

Evans is a prick and not someone who's antics I particularly want associated with Charlton, but his record results wise is decent. Davies is also a bit volatile. I'd pass on both of them but like you I'm not too sure what everyone has against Slade.
Especially if he brings Super Kev and Dave Mooney home!
Honestly, after Riga, Luzon, Fraeye, Peeters Id take Davies in a heartbeat. Yeah hes been out the game a while but he will still have contacts all over the shop, be hungry, and know the style of players he wants. Most importantly know the football league.
Its one (very) small positive step on the management side in 18 months. IMO
I just hope we bring back Karel Fraeye. I never thought he got the proper chance he deserved last season - give him a full preseason and he will be able to fully implement his squad of 11 players plan.
I think Davies would be a decent appointment - as long as he gets the power he needs. If they shore up the dugout seats, then it is going to be Evans! When we drew with Slade's Cardiff with 10 men under Peeters I said thank god they had a clueless manager!
