Just been reading the Sean Bartlett thread, how about him returning as manager? He has his UEFA licence. Could he become the next Chrissy Powell who will storm league one, only to be replaced by some shoe in?
No . Legend or not we need an experienced manager at this level.
All this talk about interviewing or talking to managers makes me laugh (to prevent me crying), because there is nobody able to conduct an interview or make a decent judgement anyway. Katrien? Murray? Duchatelet? What makes them able to make a good appointment? Their track record? Even Curbs and Gritty was a needs must situation.
Anyway, whoever is appointed right now will start heavily tainted because they will be in thrall to this regime by dint of applying and accepting. I for one will start off with zero trust, giving the new bloke a chance is so last (two plus) year.
Although Evans has previous with working under awful owners he also wilted in front of them and does what he's told rather than stand up to them which worries me somewhat.
Evans is a wrong 'un, don't want him anywhere near our great Club.
Wrong un is harsh.
He's definitely a bit of a knob though.
reading his bio on wiki he shouldn't come anywhere near our Club, even bringing an opposition team to The Valley would be too much. Dear old Katie complains about us being abusive, doubt she has ever been sworn at during an interview before.
I'm a hare's breath away from saying 'I'm out' but if Steve Evens rocked up as manager then that would be it for me I think.
I'm in a similar frame of mind but.
Serious question. What would you do if he did really well and got the team flying ?
Honestly don't know. But the same would apply to Roland, Katrien, the lot. Even if I did turnaround, it would never be a full one and I'd never get the same enjoyment out of Charlton under this mob even with success that I have in the past of non-achievement, they've simply soured to much for me and I can't go back on that

Shaun Bartlett with Benni McCarthy (ex-Sain Truiden asst manager) South African dream team.
With Cawley saying that he expected the scout role to be announced after the manager job I personally think there's something in the 'he's worked with adkins before' rumour. I don't think Steve Evans will have even thought about the Charlton job, he's on holiday at the moment and is due to be back at Thorp Arch tomorrow.

Steve Evans.....good God, we really are in a bad way. That's a no from me. Adkins seems best out of the names mentioned apart from the obvious who won't be back till this lot do one. Can I dream that the lack of activity is due to the impending sale of the club!

He's fatter than me,
Our new Manager, is fatter than me.

Surely someone as spiky as Evans would butt heads with his seniors sooner rather than later?
