The fact that a club like Charlton are finding it impossible to find a manager with any credibility shows just how far we've come under this regime.
Absolutely bloody scandalous.
Far be it from to defend Meire who I hate with a passion, but to say we're finding it impossible to find a manager, at this point in time is patently nonsense.
Wilder turned us down, but I'm not aware that anyone else has.
If we've not made an appointment by this time next week, then it will start to be concerning.
it's very concerning now. They knew a couple of weeks before the end of the season that Riga was going. They had a Plan A, Wilder. They completely ballsed that up. Onto Plan B, oh wait we haven't one. Now they are scrabbling around and basically fiddling whilst Rome burns, attending conferences etc. Other Clubs would have been identifying targets, speaking to players and agents from February onwards, preparing for the new season. Not only do we not have a Manager we also have no Head of Recruitment. A position for which applications closed on 11th March. At this rate we will have a new manager by Christmas.

Agree. They were massively surprised not to get Wilder and had to start again.

"Wilder turned us down"
Exactly my point. Essentially a league 2 manager. I'm sure there have been others.
Chief scouts, comms managers....we are the laughing stock of British football.
This regime have single handedly flushed this club down the toilet

Which others ?
This tin pot regime knew Riga would be off over a month ago. Are you saying they have only spoken to one potential candidate in that time?
Day 16 in the Big Roly House, since Jose managed to escape. Again!!
Latrien has spent most of the time in the hot tub interviewing anyone with any experience of managing, anything, in England or anyone at all with a vaguely Anglo-Saxon name.
By previous standards, she has now seen 320 potential managers, but not one has kept a straight face when told that they have to report in to her!!
Perhaps Roly, just perhaps...you need to find a new recruiter!!
It speaks to the paucity of the knowledge of the industry.
It speaks to the inexperience of the executive. The background to this process is part and parcel of every day working life. From the people you interact with, from the proposals you receive, from the meetings you go to, you build a profile of people in the industry.
If you have the right person of influence at the helm then they will "know" the key targets who will fit what you want to do and who will be prepared to work with you and your club to achieve want you want to achieve.
It is called market intelligence. In any industry you work in a "bubble" at your peril. Many of these candidates will have been in and around the game for decades, and you will know from the talk in the game much of their strengths and weaknesses.
It is where board members and particularly CEOs' will "network" for the good of their business not (Katrien) for their personal profile.
You know this stuff because over the years you get to know people, who know people, who know people.
Lennie Lawrence for example was targeted by Middlesboro not only his track record to that point but the professional manner in which he tried to bring in Alan Kernaghan.
Why to this point do you think Duchatelet has made the head coach appointments he has? He knows them - unfortunately tucked away in his isolation it is a very small world. It is another in the line of failures by this regime. By not attending games, by not networking with other club board executives, members, managers, coaches your market knowledge can never develop.
Why do you think Murray was successful with Curbishley & Gritt? Because he knew them. Every other decision he has been involved with was a bloody disaster until Powell comes on the scene. Why was Powell the right appointment at the time because he had ability and "we knew him" and he knew us.
With Curbishley for example any number of people said they would happily employ the guy outside of football because of his professionalism, personality and business acumen.
It is why many people towards the end of their business careers move into consultancy because they are known in their industry because of their personal and business interaction they have had across their working careers.
It is not just a case of "who you know over what they know" it is a balance of both. Do they have the attributes you seek and are they the right person to deliver what you want?
There are of course still no guarantees.
I have little doubt our CEO is working hard to find the right person to fit the remit she and Duchatelet have laid out but the events of the past two or three weeks give little indication they have moved forward one iota in terms of the nature of their thinking, the management of the process or their ability to deliver.
Lack of preparation, lack of joined up thinking, lack of understanding of the role and quite simply the lack of commitment to get even the basics of the business right.
I really hope it's not Parky. I've been to watch Bradford a couple of times this season and it's the same old long ball football, not to mention bottling it in big games, I.e. Millwall.
Richard Cawley @RichCawleySLP 2m2 minutes ago England, United Kingdom Doesn't sound as if #cafc set to make appointment early this week. Just over two weeks since season finished.

It will take a while to negotiate with Louis Van Gaal so might have to wait until next week before we announce him.

I too have heard that we will have a Manager by the end of the week although they havn't even spoken to him yet so who knows

Cotterill,Adkins?
"Former Celtic number two, John Collins, was also strongly linked a couple of weeks ago, but again, the trail appears to have cooled."
So it is
A Colin is Ketts
B Colin copies his "scoops" uncredited from Ketts

Appointing him would be several steps backwards.
Has someone already suggested Parky?
We could then starve him of funds, sack him, appoint Chris Powell and start the whole nightmare all over again.

What a complete joke we have become..
