Warnock is available, but we might go for Slade, and you expect happiness? We are settling for second best at a fairly meagre restaurant, and now there are people here saying we are never happy. We just got relegated - after a couple of near misses. We have been turned down by the managers of Rochdale and Northampton, we are now being offered the mediocrities and non entities that our position next season fully entitles us to, and I read here that 'some people can't stop moaning'. Well whoop-de-doo! We are playing in league 1 next year, we can expect to lose any of our players who looked half decent last season, and a month after Riga shipped out, we still haven't got ourselves together enough to appoint a successor, but if we do , the names being bandied about are micro personalities. That's without moving beyond the here and now, and looking into the shambles we have been for two and a half years. Yes @cafc_harry , I'm going to moan, and until I see some real changes, starting at the top, it will be quite hard to make me forget the likes of Karel Fraeye, Colchester away, Preston home and the stewarding at the Burnley home game. You seem easily pleased. I'm not.
I'm far from easily pleased but I don't see why people see Slade as such a bad appointment. You'd rather the Rochdale manager to him? Warnock won't be dropping to league 1 no matter what. Any club in this league couldn't afford him not just us.

cafc_harry is ONLY talking about the moaning re the possibility of getting Slade or a similar level English manager. I'm surprised people can't read what he has said.
As for Warnock, he wants £1M pa which is not realistic for us. He is worth it and will likely get it elsewhere.

Like Powell did. Managers will give you 2-3 years if they're not sacked after 2-3 months like this lot have been doing. Warnock is worth the money compared to what we'll lose.
My boss is an O's fan, and is very complimentary about Slade. Says they played great football under him, and would be a good choice for us. Any available manager is available for a reason. We have to be realistic in the circumstances who would even want to join us. For this reason I'd actually be pretty happy with him.

This sums up one of my major concerns of where we currently are and what happens next.
Slade may be a reasonable manager for us in our current state and he does have at least some track record and understanding of the English league, which is a step up from what we have been subjected to for the last two and half years. However, if our ambition is to nearly make the play offs in league one then that is no ambition at all. It will be a recipe for a continual spiralling down to the bottom. More people will stop coming, we will be able to afford less and a weaker squad, and we will slide to oblivion.
KM has said that our aim is to be 'competitive' in this league. She has also said that the budget will be one appropriate for league 1. She said the same about us in the Championship. We all hoped that this meant aiming for promotion. It is clear that what she really meant was trying to do just enough not to get relegated whilst allowing RD to try out his silly experiments. She, and the string of hopeless misfits of coaches, failed. Miserably.
My concern is that KM means, again, that we are aiming to avoid relegation, whilst trying to turn a profit on the young players. She would probably see a mid to lower table finish as a major success. It isn't. It would be a stepping stone to further failure and probably further relegation.
So having Slade might be fine, but only if there is the proper investment in the rest of the coaching team, playing squad, and everything else that is currently missing at CAFC, to make us a proper football team again.
So, to answer the question "would people moan if we nearly made the play offs", the answer is yes, because it would indicate that those currently in charge have not learnt a single thing about what it takes to be a successful club and will continue with the disastrous approach we have got used to in the last 2 1/2 years which will only lead to more failure.

Yes, anyone else would have walked away, because of 1) the chronic lack of investment by the previous regime after promotion (in spite of which Powell led the team to ninth in the Championship, still our highest finish since 2007) and 2) the ignorant interference of Duchatelet in team matters.

Can I suggest we ignore @colin1961 he is a wind-up merchant. He didnt like CP, doesnt like JJ and is more than likely crapping himself that JJ with LL could be the way RD/KM decides to go. If you ignore him maybe one day he'll get bored and go away!!

Its a shame because occasional he'll come out with a proper comment that you'll agree with.
e.g. When asked who he'd like in charge he mentioned Derek Adams from Plymouth... So he has the potential to be sensible!!
