So Mr Slade, perhaps you could tell us about some trophies and achievments of yours at previous clubs?
er......well......er....
Okay, and how did you manage your Budget?
I persuaded some players to play for free. Others took a wage cut after three months and another every time we lost imporant games. We had the cheapest squad in the league!
I would prefer Slade instead Adkins or Davies but any of the three would be much better then I thought we may get under this lot.
Not a dig at all, as I am no expect in this area, by why Slade over Adkins or Davies? They have both proved to be successful in the past and have promotions on their CVs where as Slade just seems to be a nearly man.
Nearly promotion will be good enough for me next year. At this rate I'd take avoiding relegation on the last day of the season.
7th in the championship last year! Can't be that bad
Indeed. Unfortunately it's got to the stage where some people's attitude is just so negative (for understandable reasons) they aren't looking at things objectively
Slade took a little club to the brink of promotion and then took Cardiff to just of the playoffs ..... if we finished just out side the play offs this season would people be moaning ........??
Like you were moaning when Chris Powell did you mean?

Yes, because we would still have a couple of liars ruining the club.
Whilst I wouldn't be ecstatic with Slade, we have to be realistic.
He fits the profile the vast majority of fans said they wanted.
He's English and has experience of both League 1 and The Championship.
He has more experience of League 1 than most managers.
I'd be interested to know any current manager, who has served longer in League 1
He's a decent fella, a sort of Charlton type guy, unlike Warnock, Evans etc.
He's not Mr Personality (nor was Curbs) and he hasn't got a wonderful CV in terms of getting teams promoted. But having said that I don't think he's been manager of teams that you would have expected promotion.
I'm not aware of any baggage, like some of the other candidates.

Some of the moaning on here is pathetic. Want a British manager and go on about it for 2 years, (possibly) get Slade whose just taken a fairly average Cardiff side to 7th in the championship and people still moan. Yet want Billy Davies who literally lost his mind or Adkins who finished 11th in league 1. Honestly I'd be fine with either Slade or Adkins, only real step up from them two would be Warnock and that's not going to happen.
i think i might have a little moan as we got relegated and are a basket case shambles of a football club, with a bufoon for a CEO who dosnt care about our history and has a plan to "boost" attendances which she learned from the film Blade Runner

thats if its ok you u twonk
He's talking about the moaning re appointing a manager, that fits what the fans said they want and fits what is needed. Not all the other bollox.
If we get Russell Slade, he'll bring back his go-to players ... Kevin Lisbie and David Mooney .... Noooooooo
He did get good performances out of them - similar to TWWW at Cardiff. We could do worse than Slade - a lot worse. And probably not much better under this lot.

but how much of that is down to him or down to the coach who has just replaced him in the hot seat, Paul Trollope? After all, if it were down to Slade then why have Cardiff ditched him to replace him with his own coach.
Great thread and I think Russel Slade may be the best option of a limited bunch. Expectations are low because of the regime who appear to, at best, wish to 'consolidate' our position in league one, almost as if we were promoted, but with players of lower standard and with some league one experience.
As an aside Andy Hughes thinks that JJ wants the job and is also under impression that RD is not going anywhere.
I think the regime are really trying to hold off a network manager for as long as possible, but would not rule them out of being incapable of attracting a non network manager.
Warnock is available, but we might go for Slade, and you expect happiness? We are settling for second best at a fairly meagre restaurant, and now there are people here saying we are never happy. We just got relegated - after a couple of near misses. We have been turned down by the managers of Rochdale and Northampton, we are now being offered the mediocrities and non entities that our position next season fully entitles us to, and I read here that 'some people can't stop moaning'. Well whoop-de-doo! We are playing in league 1 next year, we can expect to lose any of our players who looked half decent last season, and a month after Riga shipped out, we still haven't got ourselves together enough to appoint a successor, but if we do , the names being bandied about are micro personalities. That's without moving beyond the here and now, and looking into the shambles we have been for two and a half years. Yes @cafc_harry , I'm going to moan, and until I see some real changes, starting at the top, it will be quite hard to make me forget the likes of Karel Fraeye, Colchester away, Preston home and the stewarding at the Burnley home game. You seem easily pleased. I'm not.
Slade not the worst choice. But would I have him over say Adkins or McDermott? Probably not. But in turn I wouldn't not back him. He's British and he knows the leagues

The job is yours, can you start in mid august?
Honestly I don't know what you lot expect sometimes.
Been going well hasn't it?

It's a cautious yes from me.

Bit odd as you say - 7th place was a very decent effort with the squad he had available
