Slade is probably one of the least inspiring candidates we have been linked with, and indeed compared to many of the other managers has the least impressive CV. He would not be my pick.

That being said, he is a step above the shite this lot have employed in the past, and maybe with some decent signings we at least may begin to resemble a decent (on the pitch) football team again.
  • Slade and Jacko not even on there, unless I'm being a technological cockwomble which can never be ruled out.

Friday before bank holiday + possible announcement + start of 2nd test + "good lunch" = not a whole lot of work coming out of me today
  • I cast my mind back to a home game against Cardiff under Peeters - we were behind and down to 10 men. Peeters decided to risk three at the back and go on the attack, hoping Slade was inept enough not to respond. This is an issue with a lot of rubbish managers - when a manager does what Peeters did, you have to go attacking to exploit the weakness, but you have a lead to protect. The cowardly and tactically inept don't respond. Of course Peeters was daring Slade to respond and he didn't. Rubbish manager, but maybe a good match for a rubbish owner.

Did we draw that 1-1, backing up your point? If not and we lost then he chose the right path - but I think its the former.
Yeah that was the one where Gudmundsson did a sliding tackle on their player...

Got back up with the ball just outside the penalty area and slammed it straight into the back of the net

Was also where Harriott got himself sent off for a sily straight Red-Card

Has Warnock taken a job yet? Warnock with JJ as his number 2 for a couple of seasons.

    wishful thinking
  • From below average Belgians to below average Englishman.

How many promotions has Russell Slade got from League One?

I hope it's not today. I want my thread to remain a sticky for more than a couple of days.
  • Just told a non-Charlton supporting mate it looks likely to be Slade: 'They haven't got a clue have they?'
  • I hope it's not today. I want my thread to remind a sticky for more than a couple of days.

Why, what has the sticky forgotten?

Russell Slade nailed on to implement RD and KMs plan to make us the Leyton Orient of the south-east. There'll be a Leyton Orient-shaped gap in the market following Wet Spam's theft of their homeland.

CAFC to be renamed Charlton Orient.

Dont worry Canters... Live long knowing that you at least remembered to put the "+++" symbol in the Thread title... The other sticky (Transfer Rumours) really is lacking the imagination that you created

Remain I meant remain. I'm gonna blame it on fat thumbs and a small phone..

Hate to say it but Slade must be like Dowie in the sense that he's damned good in Interviews!!

He's been a Manager at eight clubs and has never won anything...

How he got from Leyton Orient to Cardiff is beyond me, plus if he is appointed I hope we dont finish in the Play-Offs, three times he's got to Wembley (Grimsby / Yeovil / Leyton Orient) and has lost every time

If it is Slade, he'll have gone from Orient to Cardiff to Charlton. A UK tour of barmy owners. #cafc

I would prefer Slade instead of Adkins or Davies but any of the three would be much better then I thought we may get under this lot.

All three will struggle for true success under our Belgian overlord but they will all have enough about them to keep us from slipping in to the fourth tier for the first time in our history whilst Roland edges towards selling up to a proper owner.

Not a dig at all, as I am no expect in this area, by why Slade over Adkins or Davies? They have both proved to be successful in the past and have promotions on their CVs where as Slade just seems to be a nearly man.
  • Ever seen Slade and the comedy actor Steve Speirs in the same room?
  • If it is Slade, he will be gone by Christmas.

Davies is the most likely to not stick it out, when his and the regimes insanity clashes, we really need someone who will see out the entire season if we are going to stay up next season under the current madness.

Adkins because I think he is on the down with his career, not done well at all since Southampton and I would argue that any half decent manager could have achieved back to back promotions with that the money and exceptional talent for that level they had in the squad, neither of which he will have here.

Slade may not be flash or exciting but that is the last thing we need right now, simply for me he did a great job as recent as last season in a tier above us so he is the best choice out of the three.

None of them would be even in my top five though but those are the three we seem to be interested in.
  • Slade, about as exciting as a weekend away in hull.

The sooner these owners do one the better, So had enough of this bullshit now.
