I am repeating myself a lot. Surely the issue isn't that he swore, but said to a travelling loyal supporting fan, miserable at losing at Bury ' if you don't f****** like it, don't come '?
Pick the bones out of the whole "hoo hah" though and that is great advice...

Agreed, and at the start of this thread 15,000 posts ago I think that was the general consensus.

So I've not read through the entire thread, but has it been confirmed that he did in fact take direct/personal abuse against Bury? If so, well still think he's a bit of a wrong 'un and not a good footballer but am not that fussed if he took stick and gave it back.

The abuse at Bury wasn't anything directly personal at Johnson himself, it was a frustration at the poor performance and lack of apparent effort and footballing ability at the team as a whole
Just as no doubt everyone on here would have been verbal towards the team at some point in the past due to a poor performance after you have spent your hard earned money to go and support them.
For Johnson to react the way he did shows the type of person he is, not just at Bury to say what he did, not just on Tuesday night to react sarcastically towards the Covered End before hiding off into the tunnel, not just his language and abuse he gave to younger players in pre season, but for his history at other clubs too.
He is a person I never want our club to be associated with, and unfortunately, because we currently are, shows the level we have fallen to.
He isn't man enough and big enough to apologise for what he has done, so as fans, you'll find everywhere that he will get the treatment he has.
Do you see Fox giving it back to fans all the time when they're on his back for not being up to the standard in the past? Same with other players for us. They don't do it because they're decent, hard working, respectful professionals.
Something that you can't say about Johnson.
Surely this has to be the end of the matter now as long as he never plays for us again.

wasn't quite sure what relevance the 'Roger Johnson, he sleeps with his mum' song was all about
disgusting
Clearly all the pro-Roland fans sang this as we've been told by @Leuth and others that the atmosphere was so much better with the "moaners" staying away.
Now we find out that every single pro-Roland fan booed a Charlton player and sang songs about incest.
The pro-Roland people should be ashamed.
I blame SE7 Valiants
The atmosphere was better on Saturday and that also included abuse for Johnson so sort of invalidates your point.

Doesn't invalidate this whoooooooooooosh though ; - ) @colthe3rd
I was at the Bury game to the side of the goal walking out and witnessed it first hand.
All I can say is, we indirectly pay the guys wages. He is meant to be a PROFESSIONAL footballer, he has played in the premiership. He would have had media training "what to say" "what not to say"
He should not have retaliated regardless of what was said. In this day in age, where stuff like this spreads like wildfire, he only has himself to blame.
This is the same player that has fallen out with almost every club he has played for.

Trouble is it was a disgrace at Bury because 1000 fans wasted their Saturday... Had Johnson turned round and just said f**k off the abuse then I'm sure many wouldn't be bothered, but its more the fact he told fans that if they dont like what they see they shouldn't bother going that I dont like, when in all fairness we're Football fans, we understand that there is always the possibility of seeing your team lose, whats not acceptable is seeing your team not trying
Against Shrewsbury I didnt hear one bit of abuse towards Roger Johnson other than the booing when his name was read out (Which is fair enough as he hasn't apologised to the people he directed the abuse at), then at Full-Time he walked off the pitch and in my eyes sarcastically clapped at the North Stand which was very similar to how Alan Pardew reacted when he came back to the Valley with Southampton many years ago.
For me, the moment he (or the club) comes out with a line like @Henry Irving has just mentioned, all should be swept under the rug!!
Bury behaviour, pretty disgraceful. However, nothing wrong with his walking down the tunnel at Shrewsbury, what do you want him to do?
Agree with @cafcdave123 . I think supporters have made their point, lets have some fun with it - unless the pain of being sworn at by a known twat is really still digging away at you a couple of weeks on.

He could dig a tunnel from the dugout to the tunnel like in the Great Escape, he has nothing else to do there.
Failing that he could get a motorbike and skip the fence, motor past the big screen, bounce up the staircase to the Sam Bartram, and leap the railing to freedom.
As I mentioned before, in 1992 Simon Webster swore at fans (all 2000 of us) after a League Cup loss to Bury (what is it with that club) at Upton Park. But three differences. One, he was a good guy. Two, the immediately apologised (I have a personal letter from him) and three, the internet did not exist so it all went away. I suspect even back then Johnson wouldn't have thought of apologising ... and Webster didn't need Curbishley or Gritt to point out that his behaviour was out of order.

Yeah but to be fair, he was a footballer who gave his all and cared. Not a typical modern-day thick-as-pigshit monosyllabic (look that up, Rog) money-grabbing piece of turd. Who's shit at football.
That Centre back Rojo likes to Swear on the field or anywhere. He will curse at a fan, or even at his own old Nan. I would like to wager a bet, that RoJo might have a touch of Tourettes. Is Johnson just a lout. Should the management say Roger; Over and out.

Still, football is a passionate game and players and fans swear.
Johnson is a pro and shouldn't have reacted the way he did regardless of the provocation or lack of same. End of.
Problem is that it was left to fester.
The club knew what had happened but did nothing.
It is still an issue as he's still getting boo'ed.
So ring that expensive PR company and ask them what to do.
Or they could just run a quick story on the OS and twitter from Roger saying:
"Sorry, passionate guy, heart on sleeve, said in haste and regretted it.
Have apologised to the gaffer and would like to apologise to the fans.
Will make a donation to the Upbeats, time now to move on and all work towards our shared goal of
breaking evenmounting a promotion run".Against Shrewsbury I didnt hear one bit of abuse towards Roger Johnson other than the booing when his name was read out (Which is fair enough as he hasn't apologised to the people he directed the abuse at), then at Full-Time he walked off the pitch and in my eyes sarcastically clapped at the North Stand which was very similar to how Alan Pardew reacted when he came back to the Valley with Southampton many years ago.

Booing him every week isn't going to change anything,
