  • Club must be closing the academy! Cut backs.. We're in big trouble! Skint..

12 have left the Under 21’s. A big number there in one hit. A bit of stream lining with more first team players and under 18’s involved

Big group of U16s (12) stepping up to U18.

Successfull U18s step up to U21s.

Squad probably was a bit too big in terms of purely numbers but a lot of those U21s released haven't featured much this seaso

The other way of looking at it is that it leaves room for signings like Maclorg, Cant and Phillips plus some Mount Pleasant lads.

Need @Scoham to give us an updated squad list🤞
  • Yes we may see one or two lads from Mount Pleasant on trial. If no good then the club can always return to sender

    They're not.

Hope the club keep us posted on their progress.

  • Released
    Adegoke
    Molyneux
    Adigun
    Roddy
    Bakrin
    Ladapo
    Santos
    Williams
    Viggars
    Okechukwu
    Dench
    Hand

    Offered new
    Toure
    Huke

    Retained
    Bower
    Hobden
    Kedwell

It is nice Toure has been offered a new deal as he won the Bolangi award a couple of years back so clearly a good egg and has had injuries in his time with us.  Hope he signs and can push on.

Huke looked good in the U18s last season with plenty of goals so again seems a sensible one to try to hold onto.

From the little I know of those leaving Adigun and Williams both looked good on the occasion I saw them and I would think have careers in the game; of course good luck to all of them, it must be really tough hearing someone say you are not good enough after the dedication and commitment each will have put in to get this far.

The 3 retained maybe start to get to an age they could do with a loan or some first team time depending on where they are with development.

Overall, reducing the number of kids this way seems sensible as it creates room for those coming through and also room for first teamers out of fitness/form and needing minutes.

With the slightly older age group I really hope we can tie Leaburn and Mitchell down with longer contracts soon and maybe give Casey an extra year or two as well.

With the younger ones it will be interesting to hear who signs pro.

Have those three signed? Nothing been officially announced has it?

Maclorg seems to have been here a while.  The others are/were on trial so possible but nothing confirmed.

The club may feel that there are decent players at other clubs we can pick up.
  • Henry Molyneux signed for Sheffield United according to twitter. Seems a bit strange to me but good luck to him

    24/25 Fixtures have been announced.

  • That's a big clear out.
  • Nearly half the home games at the Valley. Another benefit of the new pitch
  • https://www.broadbridgeheathfc.com/teams/55467/match-centre/0-5937595/report?utm_campaign=match_report&utm_medium=post&utm_source=twitter

Looks like the U21s won 3-2 at Broadbridge Heath last night , no scorer names just squad numbers.
  • If attending an U21 game at Princes Park and going by car it is very convenient to simply park in the Dartford FC car park for free.
When such games were played at the Valley there was usually free parking available in the Charlton car park, which made attending in person convenient too, as with the usual late season lower age group cup semi finals and finals.
As with the parking at the Valley for away evening matches coach travel it would be great to get a bit more clarity, especially with regard to the U21 afternoon games.
  • Disappointing that a tier eight club can post a match report, but our supposedly upgraded off-pitch team cannot. Ditto most non-1st team fixtures.

There’s a large car part within the grounds of the sports complex that includes Princess park, which is shared by the pitch and putt course and various football pitches. This is a free car park, but I’m not sure if it would be busy when the under 21’s games are in progress, but I would doubt it. Take the 2nd turning after you turn at the Darenth road lights, if you take the first you will end up in David Lloyds.

They seem to be asleep. A new Head of Women's Football started a couple of weeks ago. No mention yet. She will find - New signings not added to the team page and no fixtures showing yet.

I watched him playing for them last year - they were very very poor and deservedly got relegated.  He didn't particularly stand out in fairness

  • We are slated to play an under 21 match against Wigan Athletic U21’s today at 1pm. Far from ideal fixture given the match this evening.
I believe it is at the training ground so no access for ordinary season ticket holders, so the next question is will it be on Charlton TV.
The official site does not say, following the recent club tradition of not communicating in good time with the fans.

Due to the men's first-team's Carabao Cup tie against Birmingham City also taking place on Tuesday, the club will be unable to stream this U21s clash. However, supporters can follow live updates of the game via @CharltonAcademy on X, and read a full match report on the club website following the fixture.

No mention of spectator entry details to Sparrows Lane.

    Information posted five minutes ago.
So no chance of seeing the game for me, despite the ‘offer’ for Charlton TV subscribers.
I think they ought to let us in to Sparrows Lane if you have an ordinary season ticket, or evidence of Charlton TV subscription.
There won’t even be 100 people like me who would like to do so.

As for updates on x I have no words for that quite scummy offer. Not everybody has x or wants to enrich that tosser Elon Musk even further, am I the only one to read reports of how he is fuelling the flames of trouble in the UK recently?
  • Oh great, lets get yet another thread closed because you can't keep politics out of a football thread despite numerous polite requests from admin to members to not reference the current situation.

Oh great let’s give you another opportunity for a personal dig that does not respond to the issues. Nothing I have written would merit the closure of this thread.
I have not in any way politicised this issue, but maybe you need an alternative to your regular bullying of @RonnieMoore.

You really should support Liverpool, you are so good at playing the victim.
