Just an observation but my Dad did notice people wearing Black and White Protest shirts in Crossbars pre match a recent game, not sure that paying CAFC/Roland extra cash whilst displaying the protest colours is exactly the message we are trying to send?4

Maybe not but each to their own.Ketman said:Just an observation but my Dad did notice people wearing Black and White Protest shirts in Crossbars pre match a recent game, not sure that paying CAFC/Roland extra cash whilst displaying the protest colours is exactly the message we are trying to send?
It does show that those going to games and using bars etc aren't all fans of the regime as some would like make us think. These things aren't black and white (pun intended).23 -
It's slightly curious, but then while the vast majority of Charlton fans want RD and KM out, that doesn't mean that everyone agrees with how to achieve that aim...Henry Irving said:

But then I've never bought a replica kit anyway :-)3 -
To reiterate please try get down for the photo even if you, like me, can’t bring yourselves at the moment give any of your money to RD, and pay and watch the game. It doesn’t have to be just for this, before or after, try out the new refurbished Bugle, get down to the Anchor and Hope maybe see some tall ships, meet up with friends, whatever. A big show of people will send a powerful message.6

was gonna try and make it down but as usual south eastern screwing around with trains AGAIN.0

bugger didn't know it was a "protest day" saturday, thought it might be for game for a fiver when there were more people there.
same last season would see people in Black & white scarves drinking/eating on the concourse & going into Crossbars afterwards, don't understand it myself.Ketman said:Just an observation but my Dad did notice people wearing Black and White Protest shirts in Crossbars pre match a recent game, not sure that paying CAFC/Roland extra cash whilst displaying the protest colours is exactly the message we are trying to send?

No thanks , pub sounds much more appealing. If anybody wants a protest shirt inbox me as i will have a few with me on Saturday and I can make sure I have the size you require with me1

I can possibly understand somebody wanting a beer at halftime though personally if you can't go 105 minutes without having to have a beer you just might have a problem.SouthWest_Addicks said:

What I don't get is why anyone would want to use crossbars, its like a northern conference hall with a bar, absolutely dreadful. Its quite a few years since I've been in there but I can't think it's improved in any way since.

Here's a letter we've written to AFC Wimbledon fans today.

Good stuff, CARD...
As always.
Support the team NOT the regime.0 -
I'll be wearing my black and white protest shirt tomorrow and, as always, I'll be in Crossbars before the game with my parents.Ketman said:Just an observation but my Dad did notice people wearing Black and White Protest shirts in Crossbars pre match a recent game, not sure that paying CAFC/Roland extra cash whilst displaying the protest colours is exactly the message we are trying to send?
We've been going into Crossbars for years (apart from one year in the Millennium Suite when they hiked up the Crossbars price) and we're not stopping because of RD - we're terrible creatures of habit.
Don't tell us to go to a pub instead; Mum and Dad have never been "pub people" and they're not going to change now, a few months either side of their 70th birthdays - they just want somewhere in the warm and dry to sit for a couple of hours before the game instead of sitting in the car, especially during the winter months.
[Personally, I don't think that boycotting a pre-match glass of coke with the oldies will bring about RD's downfall. That is probably a discussion best kept to one of the many 'boycott this, boycott that'- style threads that have started over the months instead of taking this one off-topic.]19 -
its "valley gold day" saturday so obviously the protestors dont support valley gold either - funny how whenever a protest is planned the witch arranges some sort of day.6

Convenient that all of a sudden its Valley Gold day on Saturday. Its appears to be just being raised as a distraction & a story to sell to the press as opposed to the narrative to the Black & White day that will be grabbing the headlines.2 -
Great stuff CARD. I particularly like the reference to 'our incompetent chief executive'. Sorry I can't be with you tomorrow (elderly family member reasons). One of the shirts I bought has so far been worn in Nottingham and Glasgow and slowly working its way round the UK.0

I think it was in the calendar they released at the start of the season. However, having read the story I am none the wiser as to what it entails. The only relevant point of substance is that former academy players are likely to be in the team, which is hardly unusual.vff said:

What do you think will bring down "RDs downfall" and are you party to such actions?Briston_Addick said:

Tomorrow could be one of the most important games of the season for us and not because of anything that happens on the pitch. The regime have had things bloody easy so far this season, and one could be forgiven for thinking there was nothing up, except for the unusually high number of empty seats. After the absolutely brilliant protests at the Brighton and Burnley matches it really feels as if we've lost momentum, first with the close season and then with Card's moratorium on protests. We also seem to be caught in a cleft stick concerning the question of match boycotts: If we boycott, we're not there to protest; if we don't boycott, were funding the regime. There's no consensus amongst us as to which approach would be better. I've always believed that a 100% boycott would be more effective - if we all stood together absolutely determined not to give them a penny, the club would be up for sale within a month. Sadly that ain't going to happen though. Far too many of us are too entrenched in our ways to have a boycott of the magnitude.
This muddled approach has given the space for the regime to start clawing back some ground in the battle for hegemony. Over the last month or two there seems to be an increasing number of people who somehow think that the regime have changed their ways (quite why exactly, beggars belief). It's also noticeable that the very small handful of pro-regimers have been more vociferous. Or at least, they seem more vociferous amidst the relative quiet of those who would protest.
I realise that for lots of people who've decided to boycott, the idea of coming to the match on Saturday will be really difficult. I admit that if I hadn't been given some freebies, I would have really been wrestling with my conscience. The more I think about it though, the more I think that for this one occasion it would be better to go to the match and protest than to stay away. Let us show the regime and the wider footballing world that we still hate Meirchatelet with a passion and that we won't rest until the gruesome twosome are out of our lives for good. We need to re-ignite the spirit and fight that there was at the end of last season. There will, unfortunately, be more matches in the future that we can boycott. Before them though, let's make tomorrow's protests the biggest yet!22 -
If there isn't a big protest turn out tomorrow then CARD need a re-think.
I really hope people make the effort and attend, I know quite a few of us who have been boycotting are attending and have protests planned.3
