Sounds like it's Darren Fletcher until the summer. Assume they think they have a shot at Glasner?

Darren Fletcher talks a good game but I'm surprised he has left TNT sports and BBC 5 live to go to United !

It sounds amazing after the Fergie years, but Glasner and Guehi can probably do better than United...

Unless something major happens Glasner will be gone from Palace at the end of the season. He ain't signing a new contract.

He'll be gone, but will have lots of options across Europe.

Basically confirms it was his comments that did it for him. An interim appointment now makes no sense as they won't do any better than Amorim, he talked himself out of a job for the next 4 months
I don't think he did, he'll probably be somewhere within a month, especially if there's any clubs out there that already play 352 and want a manager that that's reputation won't be that harmed by the shambles that ManUre have become

Amorim should for his health,  spend time with his money and family until the summer and his agent can be working and he will get a job that suits but if he wants to be a manager and not a head coach that will rule out quite a lot of the "global brand" clubs even if they would want him still ?
Football ever since the advent of the Premier league and especially since about 2010 with the TV money is so different from the way some clubs were run even 20 years ago when the likes of Ferguson and Wenger were managers of the whole football structure.

Amorim gone according to Fab Romano
Hilarious, wrong manager at the wrong time, he tried to shoehorn them into a 352 and then didn't fully back him in the summer to turn them into a 352 squad.

    Long may their demise continue
Remember they sacked Dan Ashworth as sporting director after just 5 months because he argued with the board that Amorim was the wrong manager because of the formation he played.

    Utter shambles of a club.

It was Dan Ashworth that travelled to Portugal to convince Amorin to take over but at the time he was playing a 3-4-3 which worked fine at Sporting but when he arrived at United it manifested into a version of 3-5-2 which can be fine but not when he had a slow central midfield and average Premier strikers up front which coincided with Rashford dip in form and Hojlund not being a top striker. The players brought in under Ashworth didn't hit the ground running !
It was Dan Ashworth's poor relationship with Jim Ratcliffe (INEOS) that saw him move on after just 5 months and the big money paid to Newcastle for his services, though there were rumours that some stress with all the management at United occured with the sensitive Amorim from the get go.

Could, but depends what is out there. I wonder if they have already approached Glasner and he said he wants to make a decision at the end of the season.

The transfer window is open, so makes sense they would enquire at least.

Fletcher leaving TNT sports and BBC 5 live is like O'Neill leaving talksport he'll be back after his gig.

Honestly until a couple of weeks ago had no idea he was even there. Hadn't heard anything about him since he was at MK Dons and Bristol Rovers

    Couldn't agree more.

Useless board now sacking to Director of Football as well in the transfer window, chronic mismanagement.

Nancy was always a bizarre choice but the problems go much higher within the club. The board got lazy and complacent after years of easy success.

Quite bizarre how someone who had a managerial career with lower league southern England clubs, ended up  Head of Football Operations for Celtic.

Man U AND Celtic sacking their managers on the same day must be a first  :D

I've got them in a treble with Arteta, fingers crossed.
  • I thought Nancy was doing a terrific job up there. To say I'm upset is an understatement of monumental proportions.

More a musing than anything based on the 2 sackings today both being managers who were absolutely wedded to a philosophy and a formation at all costs , are we losing the adaptable managers that have 2/3 different formations up their sleeves?

Nancy's 3421/343 was never going to work at Celtic how he played it in Columbus, wingers as wingbacks and fullbacks on the outside of a back 3 but they overlap a lot is just suicidal management. That's the type of thing that needs a whole preseason to get right you don't just jump in and make such a radical style change straight away.

Doesn't Glasner play wing backs the same as Amorim? The difference is his system works because Palace have decent wing backs, United don't. It's no shock to anyone that Palace's form has fallen off a cliff since Munoz got injured.
