Mick Harford appointed interim manager of Luton. We are delighted to announce that Luton Town legend Mick Harford - and self-confessed Mackem - will lead the team into Saturday's huge Sky Bet League One clash at his boyhood club Sunderland as interim manager.
Our 59-year-old former player, coach and manager, who has fulfilled a vital job for the last three years in helping build the Hatters’ squad in his current role as chief recruitment officer, will prepare the players for the second v third game, with Steve Rutter continuing in his role as assistant-manager.
Mick, who masterminded one of the club’s finest moments in his previous role as manager when winning the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Wembley in 2009, will have the backing of 3,000 Hatters behind him for what is sure to be a proud moment as he takes the team he loves to his hometown club. https://www.lutontown.co.uk/news/2019/january/mick-harford/
How odd!!... think Nottingham Forest have kicked themselves in the balls by allowing that though as Colin Murray was saying on the Football League Show the other week how they were considering letting him go so wonder if he's taken it out of their hands
Have to go back to Billy Davies (2009 - 2011) to find the last Manager there that has lasted longer than a season
They've had sixteen Managers and Caretaker Managers since then
Another club that were back on the up after being in a bit of mess for a while under the previous owner.
Then their greek owner goes and appoints a director of football that he had with him at Olympiakos and within a month Karanka wants out. Can't be a coincidence.
Wagner at Uddersfield gone. Asked to go apparently their fans thought he was the best thing since sliced bread after he had taken over from CP.
another job lined up ? .. did a decent job with a mini budget .. Huddersfield look doomed this season but look like hitting the parachute jackpot as compensation

So said that annying leedsbasedfan troll who used to come on here.
Shows how little patience there is now. Wonder if they will go for an old school rescue type like big Sam?
Last time we played them Henners in that 5-0 drubbing when Henderson was hung out to dry with the press a number of their fans I spoke to coming away from the ground backed up the troll's opinion sad to say. All the usual candidates no doubt will throw their hats into the ring.

He clearly did a great job for them but couldn't sustain it without more money and a goalscorer.
Wagner performed a miracle to get them into the premier league, then another miracle to keep them there. When he couldn't achieve a 3rd miracle he's rewarded with the sack. Ridiculous.

Wasn’t sacked. Went to Dean Hoyle and said he needed a break from the game. That’s what’s being reported up here anyway.

Said on radio that he was going to leave at the end of the season anyway but they agreed that he should go now.

It’s the main story on Look North. Dean Hoyle has said he had absolutely no intention letting Wagner go, even at the end of the season. Apparently he said ’by mutual consent’ does not reflect what’s transpired today with DW’s decision.

Not sure how attractive the job will be as Huddersfield look doomed, and it's hard to see a new manager making enough difference to save them, as the quality is clearly not there
On the other hand, a genuine chance of promotion again next season, it's not as if the squad is going to be plundered by other clubs!

Shame to say but I don’t think it has to look attractive anymore. The same old type of managers just move between the relegation threatened teams each year. One of the usual suspects will be appointed, get paid handsomely until end of May and then leave once season is over and Huddersfield are relegated.

I don't think Huddersfield think like that, I can't see them appointing a Mark Hughes type, they're more likely to go for someone young (and foreign again?)

I can't see them going for Jacko, who's very inexperienced and I doubt he'd want to go there at this stage of his career anyway
Aitor Karanka has asked to be released from his contract as the manager of Nottingham Forest Football Club.
The club have agreed to this request and the terms of departure have been agreed. Both parties wish each other every success for the future.
There will be no further comment from either party.
Simon Ireland will take charge of first-team affairs until a new manager is appointed.

Ok he's an ex player and will get some goodwill but it will all end in tears.
Ex Addick Mark Hudson to take charge.
Mullered Cardiff on Saturday.

Sure he won't be out of work for long.
